My husband and I started our love of e-biking on a whim after all 3 of our kids had "left the nest." We needed something new to bring excitement, good health, and adventure into our lives that would last well into our eventual retirement. So, we bought our first e-bikes and haven't looked back!

Im ordering one for myself as a birthday gift in like a week!! Im so excited, i only have a cruiser bike and my town has alot of hills and its annoying having to get off my bike and walk up the hills
Beware - Ride1Up has really poor product support. Installation manual for the Roadster 2 Gravel was for the wrong bike, online videos also for the wrong bike, and after 5 months of mild riding both brakes are terrible. I contacted them, they said they don't cover normal wear and tear (5 months!) and then sent me a link to Amazon to buy new brake pads. Not exactly the support I was hoping to receive. Very disappointed.
I have both the XP 3.0 (high step) and Portola with their respective long range batteries. My wife rides the Portola and the XP is mine and both are setup for class 3 and all the performance. Here's what I can tell you about them. The higher wattage motor and higher torque rating doesn't seem to make a difference on the road or trails. The XP is is actually quicker by a fuzz. The Portola has a bit more rake in the steering so it feels more tame where the XP has quicker steering. The Portola does have nicer shifting and drivetrain components. I feel it is a just a bit nicer of a package overall Sorry Lectric, you're still my favorite though. The bars are closer on the Portola. My wife is 5'8" and I am 5'10". She does like the Portola bar position better. I am at the size where both are fine for me. The battery lasts about the same on both. I believe the XP controller and display is a design and setup. Both controllers limit the current to the motor to that 20-21 amp range so you get the same power out of both. Riding both on pavement and dirt trails, the Portola get the nod for its on-road manners and the XP has it on the dirt. My wife much preferred the color options of the Portola and is the main reason we bought it. If you are still trying to decide on one, they are close enough that you'll be happy with either one.
I just got one and it is a very nice smooth riding bike. Motor is quiet and very responsive. Overall really impressed with build quality and paint finish. Nice job RAD.....
@ebikingtoday Best part is I feel I kind of stole it as a customer purchased it in July and it was still new in the box I had to open and assemble and I got it for $1200. I did have to get a new front fork axle because the factory over torqued it so it came apart. I saw a couple others report the same issue but RAD sent a new axle to owner I bought it from.
You can pedal without using the battery: Flat ground, sure until you get tired, depending on your fitness level; hills will be hard as with any heavier electric bike. The best idea is to check the bike's "specifications" for the rear rack weight limit to see if it'll work for your child: alnk.to/dew3rZw
I have to say this ebike is totally awesome. I just purchased 2 a large for me and a regular for my wife. We took them on our first ride the other day and boy oh boy this Discover 2 is one of the best ebikes we have owned. The ride is great, the features on this bike are the best and even the app on our phone was excellent. We love this ebike and can't wait to take it out again.
That's crazy. I walk that path below the park a few times a month. I use my electric unicycle through it while birding usually. Small world. I'm looking at this Engine Pro 2.0 as well.
Thanks for bringing this hidden gem to our attention. Did you check the local laws re e bikes. Most likely no class 3 allowed. But are throttles legal over there? Did you go by plane or by boat?
You're welcome! It was amazing! They don't have the three-tier classification system and an e-bike is treated like a regular bike. But there is a speed limit of around 15mph (25kmh), supposedly. We saw many regular bikes on the Wild Atlantic way that were going faster than that!
Concerned with the Portola’s ability to accommodate a 6’ male…have heard comments re: it being a bit “cramped” in terms of leg extension ability if you are over 5’10”. Thoughts?
The Portola says it can handle riders up to 6'4"... but it really has a lot to do with your inseam and other specific measurements. I'd check out the "Dimensions and Sizing" (go.ride1up.com/SH5A) to be sure you fall under each requirement.
Anyone have advice on how to store a folded Portala bike, like in a PLASTIC storage box (what size?), or on wheels somehow, it's awfully heavy and bulky to move & just seeking some advice -what others do to make it easier to transport from vehicle to garage , etc?
Can anyone with a level 2 tell me the best way to attach the aventon top rack bag to the back rack? I know it should be simple but I can’t get the Velcro tight enough to hold it steady.
