Hopefully this video is a balance of entertaining and interesting to those following the electric dredge project. I went through over 30 Impeller designs to get a winner, so I won't bore you to death with all the testing I did behind the scenes. This video starts with a sunny jog by the beach to show you a part of Australia I really need to showcase more often! It's absolutely beautiful here and it's been great to get out and see a bit more of this place for the last few weeks between getting some chores done and doing all these impeller tests.

Thanks Alex!! I'm hoping some of the new skills can be used for a wider variety of "thing creation" after I finish this little project... I still get a kick out of watching your waterslide videos from 13 years ago! You're Practically a RU-vid founding channel at this point!

What you do is really great, congratulations for your patience, your rigor and your perseverance! At that level, it’s engineering! I hope I can support you financially again because you totally deserve it and I know that tools and other materials are expensive. We appreciate the effort and detail that goes into this - keep it coming. Now you need to design a micro dredge header that replaces an existing high banker header and feeder.

I was looking forward to buying a Highbanker off of you here in Calgary! You put a lot of work into that design. Love how much though and effort you put into everything!

If you take that Scenery and Crap it Up a bit it really reminds me of Townsville. XD Also good to see you have the Required HandBook for Guests of Australia listing Insects and Critters that will Totally Mess You Up! For Venturi Suction I Used to use a 3/4" Brass Swagelok T with one of the 2 parallel fittings a 1/4". This allowed me to Swage in a 1/4" Tube which exited the other 3/4" fitting. The feed came in the 3/4" Perpendicular fitting and flowed over the 1/4" pipe inside a 3/4" pipe. End result is a fair bit of suction through the 1/4" fitting. This could easily be scaled up and replicated with PVC cheaper.

Interesting engineering Kyle, 40% is a significant improvement for a 2,000 GPH bilge pump powering a 12V dredge!

Looks like you may have created a nice niche market with those impellers. That just might make a good pump for my battery operated Le'Trap and Geo Highbanker.

Thanks John! It's interesting that there is such room for improvement in efficiency, I was a bit surprised to see it! I suspect these impellers would be good when using longer hoses that leave you further up from the bank, or if you want a higher pressure spray of water. At wide open, there isn't as significant of an advantage with this design compared to when jetted down to 11mm. A highbanker running a 18 or 20mm jet would clean gravel fairly well I suspect. Regardless of how useful these are for highbanking, I'm very optimistic for the ability to power serious full size beach boxes with electric setups, even on multi day trips with the assistance of solar panels. It wasn't that long ago a 100AH LiPO4 battery was worth $1200CAD and yet now the prices are WAYYYYYYY lower. Super cool! I still love my WX15 I bought new in 2013, and it provides me with water when running 150 feet of hose way up over a wide gravel bar... But I really need to ad an electric/solar setup to my arsenal for packing into places! PS: I hope you are enjoying some open water and a warm spring!

I have seen that toroidal propeller design, it looks cool! I'm not sure it would work for a centrifugal pump impeller, but I love seeing new design ideas being put into use!

R&D in the lab, R&D brought to the field the next step? 40% volume improvement . Lots of beach there? . Gold in the beach sands? . Ram water pump from beach waves ? For non motorized gold mining rules? A trip to PNG for man eating gold ? Soon the NSR will be ready to go

Just buy an Iwaki sump pump they move 40 gallons a minute. I can mail you two for free youre not rain man with these obtuse calculations.

@UtmostOutdoors theyre 3 prong outlets needed to run the noiseless pumps, theyre $300 online new, heavy full of copper. The scrap yard scammed me only gave $2 a unit, when they got $35 of copper inside.

You can find them behind petshops that flush fish tanks constantly and are tired of breaking their backs moving a garbage tub of foul water out back. Instead they run a pvc tubing out to the compost.

Very good job on the improvement! You've been working hard at it and im glad your efforts have born fruits! On another note, in terms of suction dredging, I think you should consider doing a power jet. With a suction nozzle the water is being pushed up the hose, in my experience that lead to more clogs and noticeably less suction than a power jet. Plus with a power jet you dont have to move a second hose around while youre dredging. Id imagine its also more efficient than a suction nozzle because the pressure hose isnt nearly as long, maybe 2 feet as compared to the nozzle where the pressure hose needs to be almost as long as the suction hose. Just food for thought.

I think you are correct about the placement of the suction nozzle. After the point where the jet and the dredge hose combine flows, you will get more resistance in the hose because it has to contain the water from both inputs. I think a suction nozzle could be useful for people who have a gas pump laying around and just want an affordable nozzle to test with... My main focus will be on making the electric dredge work as efficiently as possible.
