Love your videos, I just received 100 ft starter kit of the 42 inch plus another 100 ft roll of the green and black for next summers garden. It is 65 by 35 ft. I am going to put a t post about 2 ft back from each corner then run a single electric line about 5 ft high tied in to the premier fence with the connector clips. I have been using reg wire chicken netting 2 ft high for years. Have problems with dogs and rabbits getting in my garden and the 5 ft electric strand has worked great for years. But what a pain rolling out that chicken wire. Can not wait to use next year with the new solar charger. Now the critters will be zapped 24/7. Will have to get use to turning off charger , do not want to be a victim myself. Keep up the great videos. Rick Brown Frederick MD

That poultry net has a problem with grounding due to growing groundcover... My suggestion is add some cardboard under the netting on the mowed perimeter for more insulation. BTW, my suggestion is to add a light to the system that you can see both day and night so you can visually check if the fence is on. This can eliminate accidental shocks AND can help at night when you walk by and notice the power is off so you can fix it before the goats get out or the coyotes get in.

I purchased 4 rolls of 100' each plus a 8' gate and put it up by myself. I did take my lawn mower (raised the blades) to cut the grass to be less than 4". I unrolled the fence and laid it on the ground and then started putting the stakes in the ground. I do recommend the 48' over the 42" and if you can get the stakes closer together like 6-7' that really does work better to prevent sagging. I am out in the country, and I am trying to keep the coyotes out and my chickens in and so far, so good. My cats took a bit to figure out that the fence is live. I am using the solar electric version on low during the day and on high at night.

Love the goats. I had goats in the past. I would feed every afternoon. I would feed just shell corn. One scoop was all it took. My goats could walk through my fence anytime. But would always be home at feeding time. Good luck, I like the goat fence

This fence works well in good weather. But ice and snow cause issues with keeping it up and anything inside of it. And you do have to take the charger in the house and charge it up if you have several days with little sun.

So if you you will stretch it out FIRST around the entire perimeter where you want it, then put both end poles in the ground, you can install it by yourself AND it takes out any guess work. Just stretch and put the poles in the ground as you go! Viola! But you get a 👍🏻 from me for the great review and the mole. Lol 😘

Ive been using these for almost ten year.. well 8 at least. I can't remember when we bought the first one. We now own like twenty to thirty lengths (a few don't work because my hubs hit them with the tractor or weedwacker *facepalm*. To keep the elk and larger predators like bear away from our animals: we hooked them up to a VERY strong charger that us usually used for large cattle. We run eight fences strung together which we move around to rotate. It works VERY VERY well and it isn't hard to move. We did however replace the posts with MUCH stronger ones with these neat loops and 'stoping pads' at the bottom that make getting then in and out of the ground much easier.. THAT makes a HUGE difference.

We have wild dogs in the bush in Australia. They come into our small town apparently at night. In packs. I want to ensure if I invest in chickens. They’ll survive.

I'm curious what you think on the ideal partition size (per day, etc) for rotation grazing with these portable fences? Are you setting it up for like 1 day, or 2 day grazing in one spot then move the fence and how would you calculate how big this needs to be? And how often does an animal get through this kind of fencing, either by jumping or, panicking and going forward instead of backward? Are the portable fences actually stable enough to use long term? You look like you are actually having fun. A lot of people don't understand this. But I don't understand why they all want to be captives in the city where they have no rights; that's more 'fun' right than being able to do whatever you want?

We are considering the same fence but there is no way step-in posts will work for us. Premiere has driveable posts but those are extra. They are supposed to be coming out with a version that has driveable posts integrated into the fence like the step-in posts. We may wait until then. We will be trying to keep goats and sheep in with the fence but we will spend some time training them to it first.

You could easily take T post and slip old bike inner tubes over the top....then zip tie the fence up...there is a viable solution....so I used to be a big mountain bike racer....and if you check your local bike shops and tell them to save you all their old tubes..in a week or so you'll have enough tubes to get the job done....just an idea that would probably work if you did a bit of leg work..hope this helps......I thought to my self "what if a post broke" this was my solution
@cavemanjoe7972
@cavemanjoe7972 6 лет назад
mike34124 You could just make a 'hole punch' for the step-in posts with a stomach-high piece of 2x2. Drill a hole in the bottom, cut the head off a nail or spike just a bit smaller than the diameter of the posts, epoxy it into your driver, and you're done. Pick your spot for the post, hammer your punch in, pull it out, and set your post in the hole. 👍

What energizer did you go with? Do you have a preference for solar or no? I've heard so many mixed feelings on solar. My portable fence will at times be 73 yds from the power source in my barn and that's a lot of additional cordage to stretch out there. Plus, trying not to break the bank! Was hoping to stay under $500 between the poultry netting (which sounds like is best because of the smaller holes) and the energizer. Help!

Not trying to be a negative Nancy but that's just a bandaid. You are in need of a more permanent fencing. A five foot cattle fence will do it. The mountain I live on here in NE Alabama ever person that has goat is using five foot cattle fence. shoot when I had goats in Florida I used five foot fence panels from Tractor supply. I think they were 16 ft long. They were $18-20 each. I even put a electric wire around the bottom outside of the pen to keep out the unwanted.

Circumference = 2* Pi * radius. You want your 100 ft net to go in a circle. 100=2*3.14*R R = 100/6.28 = 15.9 ft. Next time stick in a thin pole straight down into the ground at the center of your intended area and get a 16' length of rope and make a small halfhitch knot at one end and put that end over the pole so you can walk around the pole in a circle and stomp down the brush. Then go back with the trimmer and knock down the circular path you made. Then lay down some cardboard and start adding your netting. Easy peasy.

What I use to keep goats is the hot fence like you got there for your cattle and on the outside I ran chicken wire , 5 feet high , parallel with the hot fence about 10 inches from it . This is from trial and error . They always got out until I tried it this way . The hot fence wire spacing was a trick too . Spacing was from the ground up 6" , 6" , 6" , 8" , 10 " , 12 " , 12 " . Polarity from ground up + , - , + , - , + , - , + . Ran the polarity like this because they may not ground and make that circuit but they definitely will when their nose touches the two . They are not heavy like a cow and may be standing on grass insulated . They have to learn or be " taught" that the fence will hurt them .

I tried this netting 1 summer and the goats loved it. They could free range the whole neighborhood because this stuff is useless. The first problem is low impedance fence doesn't work on goats. I have a high amp charger now with 5 strands of fence and the goats are no longer a problem. Good luck finding the high amp charger, they are rarer then hens teeth now because it will catch a field on fire it not tended properly.

Dude, the freebies has to be much more tightly drawn than what you have there, otherwise the bottom electrified strand week ground out. BTW, you don't need two people to install it. Just anchor the first post and stretch out the netting, lay it down. Then, go back and stretch the meeting pit from the first post and press them in. :)

150’ long. You’re only getting 37.5’ x 37.5’ for a total of 1,406.25 sq ft of space. They’ll eat through that in a day or less.

$20 for 16ft panel, we had cattle, sheep ,goats.horse, mules. donkey, and pigs nothing has got out and some panel have been up over 30 years. look at the long term cost of the net compared to the panels the net not going to last that long, when goats start going threw them they wont stop. love your videos
