Cleaning the gear was not really an issue if I had it to do over again I would do it the same way with the sharp metal pick. It wouldn’t hurt to go over it with a toothbrush after you run the pick over it. The old belt guts are stuck pretty good. I would have removed the tensioner to make it easier. As for brake clean we do allow it in the shop because it smells bad. Bad like it’s bad for you. The best thing to clean brakes with is water. All of the stuff loose inside the rack housing were dry and compressed air did the trick. Thanks for the comment. Hope you have a good year.
I have the same problem with a warning light on my dashboard . It says advanced track service and the blinker doesn’t work . Did you have the same warning light on your dashboard. I will like to know before I open the rack and pinion
@@antoniomaceda1943 the way we checked the rack was to put the front tires on the ground with the engine running and have one guy turn the wheel one way and then the other while one guy was underneath listening for the rack motor to run. If you don’t have a load on the front tire the motor will not turn. Use a screwdriver to your ear or a stethoscope to listen.
$574.00 and you're married to that rack! Yes, I know the price of rebuilt and new. They have to warrant it, not you. You're not going to tell me you don't have atleast 3 hrs fiddling with that
They were going to sell the truck with no power steering because they could not afford to fix it with another rack and programming so it was done with the understanding that there was no warranty and he will actually make his money back from the repair plus some. Thats what we do for good customers. Normally I would agree with you on the married to it thing. Thanks for the comment
