Making tubular frame for the Electric Snowmobile. Light and odd design.
Using ME1115 Motor and Kelly Controller. DIY build of Electric Snowmobile. Got inspired of the TAIGA electric snowmobile and with the experience of my Electric Snowbike build I started this project to make a light, fun and playfull electric vehicle.
I will use parts from Lynx and Skidoo the REX2 chassie and some parts from the summit modells to get it light and manouverbal.
Will build a custom 18650 batterypack heated by the cooling system.
In this episode I paint the frame and do all the assembling. Exchanging the BMS and make transmission finished.
Also do all the wiring, program the controller and make motor spinn.
In this video I do a range test
Batterypack is 96 V and max 400 A, 4 kWh
Motor ME 1115 96 V x 400 A aptox: 40 kW for max 1 minute
Driving time 30 minutes ( 26 min )
Range 10 km !!?? ( 8,2 km)

Hej, Erik ! Ja den fungerar över förväntan. Alltid spännande när det är nya funderingar och lösningar. Är väl 4:e varianten av skoter/snowbike och denna är typ resultatet av trial and error av tidigare försök :-) Mvh Pär

Try to use the bms only on charging, and have discharge directly on the battery. And watch the volt meter manually so you know when to stop.

Hi Pän, great channel and interesting electric snowmobile project! As number of viewers mentioned I would also be keen on purchasing one of such if you would produce more. Any improvements from the last year with regards the frequent need to restart / reset and sourcing better battery pack?

Hello, Julius and thank you ! Happy you like my builds. I usually only build one vehicle and then want to inspire others to do the same showing it is not that hard. Problem with current batterypack is it that is it cheap batteries, whole batterypack gets unstabile. Planning to build a new one with OEM PHEV modules, much better! BR Per

By the way, in case you are not going to create your own EV production company, why not to try to become a local dealer in Europe for Taiga Motors - Canada based Recreational EV startup? They are about to start mass production of their T3 electric snowmobiles if everything goes ok considering the challenges they might be facing as a startup and a company that never produced gas powered snowmobiles. I also have read some prospects of BRP, where they unveil their plans of going electric and aiming for the first EV's in their fleet to appear between 2025-2030. I guess they would have strong cards in their hands considering their R&D capacity, name and existing distribution and service network. What the most possible customers challenge though is real life range... . Lets see what future brings. Your videos are inspiring!

Vad kul med ekskoter, känns lite som att du är pionjär i den branschen. Detta är den enda hemmabyggda elskotern jag hittade. Och vilken kanal du har! Riktigt kul att se dina videos. Undrar hur många år tills folk kommer konvertera sina retro skotrar till el. Vad tror du?

Hej, getberget ! Kul du gillar min kanal och videos ! Helt övertygad om att det kommer att konverteras retroskotrar, märker ett stort intresse för det och får många frågor. Bara en tidsfråga innan folk kommer underfund om att det är mycket lättare med el jämfört med fossila mannicker. Kanske får planera video för en riktig DIY konvertering av nån gammal trotjänare. För oss som sitter hemma i värmen och slipper knuffa skoter så tycker jag du bjöd på en väldigt trevlig skotertur😉 Slår bms:en av utan någon varning när spänningen faller under något inställt värde? Mvh Patrik

:-) Tack, Patrik !! BMS:et klippper precis som du skriver om någon cell hamnar under förprogrammerat värde, oftast då under acceleration. De DALY BMS jag använder i skotern är förinställt på vissa värden. Chargery kan du programera. Man får försöka väga acc mot räckvidd när man programmerar controllern, i Kelly anger man procent av batteri eller max amp som controllern kan ge. Mvh Pär

Hi persteel, why didn't You construct it from beginning to have the maximum weight as possible on the drive train? I can imagine when You have a part of Your body weight and the biggest possible weight of the battery (at least whats manageable/realizalbale...) puzt on the drive unit the machine will grip so deep as possible in the snow to get You more traction... maybe I'm wrong, I try only to give my thoughts and inspirations into Your build... I would like so much to stick with creative people as You are just to try out all the possible, ... AND the not so-possible or less-imaginably stuff, because You're the human that will give the progress to the so much the lazy and 'menefregistic' people in the world, that is okay with 2000plus TV-chanels and a bag full of potato chips, that don't will change anything but their calory household... or s.th. like that... Hello, RoB ! Thank you for all the positive respons. Regarding weight distrubution I had an ide´ about long range battery sitting on the top of the tunnel. But we had no snow this year, maybe next year. Thanks for input !! Having BIG problems to sit still doing nothing.... BR Per

What type of battery is that currently? Storage batteries are not best designed to give large outputs of power otherwise they die fast. I guess your not using storage batteries i hope. I am building a 20s 4p pack from 21700 cells

It is the Heavy Duty batterypack : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6ezTCG2Kiz4.html but another BMS: DALY 250A continius and 600A burst. Nice, the 21700 cells seems to be really good. Maybe an upgrade for next year, keep me posted about progress on your pack !! BR Per
