The man uses higher quality chips with "better" (cleaner more headroom) sounds. I personally like the analogue character of the Boy and Analogue delays based around the same chip so it's really a matter of taste. :)

I agree, I bought an original Memory Man when they first hit the market, I meant the first week, & I do wish I would have kept it...BIG TIME...LOL, and this pedal here doesn't come close to what the original did...I LOVED that pedal...I can only acredit the loss of it to the fact that it helped me to get my first Custom Shop Special tobacco brown sunburst Les Paul Delux w/treb-bass-boost, & out of phase toggles on it...but...I STILL miss that Memory Man...

WELL WORTH THE money...I bought a real echoplex for $400 but the hell with it, give me two or three of this babies its fine, much better and they will "work forever" THANK YOU EHX!! TAKE MY MONEY

I find it interesting when people insist that something is too expensive. It's not as if things are produced and the manufacturer simply makes up a price at which to sell them. The components cost a certain amount, the labour to produce them costs a certain amount. Add to this a profit so that the company can continue to offer a product and a reasonable estimation of what the public are prepared to pay (and the availablility of units/numbers produced) and you have an approximate pricepoint.

That would be a ridiculous amount of work. They have 967 videos, most of which are pedal demos. They already have a huge back-log of pedals they still want to do, so I'm sure that'd be insane for them.

This pedal is a fair amount cheaper then the Diamond Memory Lane 2 and with a couple more options and in my opinion better sound. A more usable loop that you don't need to buy a trs cord for. I'd love to get one of these. Hopefully they don't run out of chips anytime soon.

Great demo burgs - trying to compete with the Strymon pedals is a tough one but I like the features they have gone for - saying that I'm still saving up for a Timeline - I dont think there is anything on the market that sounds as good right now.

I could give you countless examples of how wrong your point is from all points of music history (recent and old), not just in guitar but in other areas as well. Besides that, it's a matter of choice, but quality resides in all price ranges. Don't deny that. I can't even count the hugely successful bands I've seen with budget gear and tone to die for.

Its just not priced to be competitive. My Strymon timeline was 450, my empress super delay PGS edition was 400 JHS has one out too thats only a few bucks more.

It's a question of budget, you're not obliged to buy it if it doesn't match with the price you wanna pay for it... It's the kind of pedal that the RHCP would buy for example... Sometimes you need to do amazing pedals for amazing artists... That's the way it works.

this sounds nothing like the deluxe memory boy. DMB is a lot more lofi. this has clarity and brighter repeats, but still a natural decay. it's like combining the best parts of tape, digital and analog. plus for those bitching about the price, authentic japanese NOS ICs (a lot of fakes out there) cost a lot more than new production chinese ICs. hell, the MN3005s in the $470 1100ms DMM go for $50 each. and there are four of them in there.

See, I am not big fan of this, I am not one to mess with my sound or with the mod. like he does, I know everyone has a different style, I am just old fashioned I supposed, I like fuzz and my original memory man with EQ, compressor and a couple cool distortion pedals. Simple yet effective in the art of face melting.

I understand the argument that good tone comes from expensive, high-quality gear, but I really dislike the argument. First of all, "expensive" and "high-quality" are not synonymous. Lost of high quality products are quite inexpensive. And many great guitarists have gotten great tone with surprisingly humble gear.

There's way too much that I find unusable about this pedal to even think about spending that much coin on it. I'll stick with the Carbon Copy. Simple, and does what I want. I can understand why someone might want it, but I couldn't find any uses for most of what that thing can do.

@ 2:55 - That distortion on the repeats doesn't sound analogue at all. Same as the Deluxe Memory Man w/Tap Tempo 1100, which I owned for about a day. I found all sorts of other issues I didn't like. Don't believe the hype about this pedal.

That's BS, and it's sad to see this way of thinking today. Good tone comes from your head, your sense of offering your best to the song and your ability to match whatever you think is right, irrelevant of cost. IF you were correct, then the most amazing tones in guitar history would only come from the most expensive gear available... which of course is not true, something that is easily being proven daily from star and workingman setups alike.

And your examples is very one-sided and irrelevant: a rather crappy Peavey compared to a classic 5150 which is basically not used for the same tones at all with a JMP 100... and a digital delay compared to a true analog. Each one has its uses, strengths and weaknesses. They are all tools. Just make sure you choose the ones that sound correct to YOU for each job.

If you're getting a Memory MAN, just get the regular Memory man, forget all these features, they don't sound as good as the original.
