@@EnJoony Indeed. That is why I specify, "without the baked in metal". The LPB-3 is essentially the metal zone without the distortion, plus a toggle switch to switch between 2 Qs for the mid cut/boost, and a few bells and whistles. The Metal Zone makes a great booster, but it always adds distortion even with the dial set to 0. The LPB-3 solves that.
Right on!! Definitely gonna snag one of these and put it in front of my Rams head!! Dig the schecter guitars by the way,i gotta Nick johnston lefty in atomic green with the 3 single coils I love it!! Cheers😎
It is extremely useful and does the job of much more expensive pedals like the boosts from Origin Effects. IMHO, it’s a perfect solo boost or tone shaper.
I bought this and I cant be more excited! Put it before any pedal that was sweet (Keeley's Muse Driver, Blues Disorder, Boss OD3...) and itll make it sweeter! Being able to control the mid frequencies allows great tone shaping!
@@JoeBat95I’m an old guy, had an LPB-1 back in the day, but I also managed to miss the LPB-2! (Actually had the original LPB-1 that plugged into the guitar, which couldn’t be used with a Strat with its angled input jack, and later had the version that plugged into your amp.)
Me too! Even earlier - more like 1969. I had a Silvertone/Danelectro with lipstick pickups going into a Dual Showman Reverb. SO MUCH CLEAN!!!! I desperately wanted to get the crunched-out tone my friends were getting with their (unaffordable to me!) Les Pauls and Marshalls. The only way to even get close was to jam that LPB-1 into the input and crank it. Those were the days!!!
So I picked up an LPB-3 and tested it against my DryBell Unit67 and I have to say that the LPB-3 sounded better to my ears when placed in front of my drive pedals! This pedal has everything I wanted in a solo boost… Clean boost, gain for a little grit, comprehensive EQ, and of course, a sweepable mid range. Placed in front of any of my tube based drives it elevates my sound to absolutely monstrously, beautiful solo tones. To anyone considering this pedal, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It’s a perfect boost and the price can’t be beat especially when you consider it holds its own against other boost pedals that are 2 to 3 times the cost. Thank you, thank you, thank you EHX!
At least, it's a Holy Grail with an artwork not seen before. I don't think EHX would release a new Holy Grail without important upgrades, and I can't see any aditional knob, toggle, button or footswitch.
I just ordered one from Sweetwater. They only had 3 in stock! I can not wait to throw this in front of some overdrive and fuzz pedals. It will be a sweet addition to my pedal arsenal. 🤘EHX RULES!
+15 and -15. Those could just be test points on the circuit board for measurement during assembly and it could be using a charge pump to boost 9V to an effective 30V, giving the pedal much more voltage switch for much more clean boost than 9V can provide.
That looks killer! Parametric Mids. I wonder how favorably it compares to the Spark? The control feature set suggests that the LPB-3 has added versatility.
