I've been looking for a video as helpful as this for about 3 years

Hands down this is the best demonstration I have ever seen of the MicroSynth. I have this pedal and I have never really used it, after seeing this demo I now have a new appreciation of it. Many thanks Gary I feel inspired to use it again.

Dude. Funny you mention the Fender Blender... I bought my Micro Synth when I realized it could do Fender Blender tones! Are we the same person?!

Well I traded a pedal for a 24 volt v3 Microsynth. Thank you, this video has cost me a Fat Metal Pro.

I love it. Just don’t forget that it’s a total tone sucker : have it’modified for true bypass orherwise the dry sound from the amp is FUCKED.

Justice sound, love it!! Do you recommend overdrive before or after the micro synth?? Thanks for your great video
@Garyclintoncomposer
@Garyclintoncomposer 7 лет назад
Glad you like the Justice setting Joch! Using this with overdrive would depend on what you have in the voice mix. There is scope for distortion before, or after, if you are using very little square wave / octave / sub oct and just the guitar signal. So you could apply envelope filter sweeps and settings to the overdrive. Personally I would try both before and after but you will probably have most success with overdrive after. As a general rule in pedal chains, apply any EQ before you do anything else. BUT you should experiment as filter based pedals can also sound cool after distortion. Personally I have found that overdrive in conjunction with the Micro Synth is too much i.e. the signal just clips and you lose power. Having said that there are so many variables which can affect the sound so with the right tweaking - pickups / gain / tone etc, and perhaps a solid state amp rather than a valve amp, you could get some cool sounds.

Hey, I saw a reissue Fender Blender for $165 on Reverb. I bought it without a seconds hesitation on your recommendation. Will send it off to be modded to orginal specs, who to, I don't know yet. Really excited.

Thanks for the video! Curious to how you’re powering this? Did you need a specific sized adaptor to go into the pedal? I just bought the same era one of these (without a power supply included) and all my usual connectors wont connect to the pin in the pedal. I’m thinking I’ll need to get a voodoo lab doubler adaptor to go from two 12v outputs from my zuma but unsure if that will connect to the pin. Any suggestions? Cheers!

Check Gary's later video in this playlist where he shows you exactly how the pedal board and the pedals are hooked up. Cheers

You can also make it sound like a trumpet. All you need is a fuzz pedal after the Micro Synth with the sub cranked, attack delay on half, frequency start/stop half way, and a healthy sprinkling of resonance. It sounds exactly like brass instrument I swear.

IS the POG the same thing or why are they different?
@Garyclintoncomposer
@Garyclintoncomposer 4 года назад
Sorry for incredibly slow reply on this I just noticed there were questions! So you've prob found out by now they are different. This biggest difference is the Pog is polyphonic meaning it tracks more than one note so you can potentially play chords. It doesn't have the 'sweep section either but it does have a LP filter. It also has more voices to play with. The Pog2 has more voices again and it has a low pass filter with 'Q' setting and you can save presets.

Can you use this as a distortion pedal? For chords?
@GuitarandMusicInstitute
@GuitarandMusicInstitute 4 года назад
Yes, I'm pretty sure that Gary describes limited use with chords but it's discussed later in the video...
@Garyclintoncomposer
@Garyclintoncomposer 4 года назад
You can use the square wave as simply a fuzz. Works best with single line lead stuff / riffs. You can almost get away with it with power chords. It's not very defined for chords with more than 2 notes.
