Electro-Harmonix Tone Corset Analog Compressor | Reverb Demo Video 

The graphics and the creative names is what i love about EXH. People complaining can go and buy some ugly DOD pedal with a serious name.

Modestoney I love it about them, unique names that are relevant but not boring or overly technical.

That said, I think this might be the ugliest pedal ever. If I end up liking it, it's getting a paint job.

The graphics are simply dated, and not in a retro or cool way.This is actually a perfect example,- maybe the ugliest design they produce.With the logo only on the top, and the rest left bare, IMO,- just not a good look.The more extreme logos, - like the Muff, or the Cockfight ,are more classic EHX, but if you're making inexpensive enclosures, keeping it simple, - like Walrus, or EQD, two color,- is the way to go. EHX never had any single " style" until they started mass producing the top only graphics.The company has gone through several fits and starts.

@@ebeep It's relatively easy to just pull all the interior and sand the top off.I've done this with a few of their pedals.IMO, this is one of the better comps going at any price.

For a cheaper alternative (still with P-90 on the neck and humbucker on the bridge) check the G&L Fallout (thank me later B-) )

I have the same question. I have a Keeley Compressor Plus, but I need to keep the Level at 2 for unity if I have the Blend at 100% Clean, otherwise I get volume drop. I'm also looking for a compressor with blend that allows for a real parallel signal. Or are we misunderstanding how compression works?

Fuzz kind of act as a compressor on its own, so its best to not use your compressor pedal on top of it

I agree. I just sold my compressor pedal. I was getting so much noise with the it turned on if I had and distortion or overdrive after it. Clean it was okay. Listening to this I hear a ton of noise again when joe has it turned up. He does say in the video it’s typical for compressors can be noisy so maybe that’s just the trade off. Like it or lump it. I’m not sure I like it

Like any pedal it's situational. No need to use it all the time. But sometimes it may be just what the doctor ordered. When playing clean with a lot of reverb and some delay a compressor is a nice addition to the sound.

You mean jazz? =P Try Joe Pass, Wes Montgommery, ... for starters and if you want the more reverby dreamy stuff there's an oversaturated market on that nowadays (mac demarco would be the starting point there probably)

the bass channel did a great demo of it, check it out! It has a blend knob and attack knob which should make it versatile enough for all basses. compression is something you have to try out yourself to really tell how it reacts

Does the Tone Corset tie the clean signal to the pedal's volume/output like the Vise Grip does? That's the only thing I don't like about the Vise Grip.

It's probably far off, but it kinda sounds like he's jamming Rolling On by the Murlocs.

Choppy playing would be the best to demonstrate effects. Obviously with compressors but also reverb, delay, filters etc.

Yes, I understand what they do. And in theory might be useful. But I have yet to come across a demo that demonstrates one in a positive light, to be honest. This one included

Same. I have this pedal but still. I prefer the dynamics and over all tone of an uncompressed guitar.

@@hammill444 that’s because if you use a compressor for what it’s actually supposed to be used for, you won’t hear it on youtube. RU-vid already compresses the audio, to save bandwidth. Subtle compression is used to even out small dips and peaks, to enrich the sound and make your instrument easier to play. It also makes your instrument fit in a mix better. And lastly it can just be a tone betterer knob, fattening up your sound ever so slightly. But all these things get lost in the youtube squash, so it wouldn’t make sense to demo it…

The only one I haven't liked is the Cathedral. It's a generic name and kind of a bland design, but it's still a great stereo reverb.
