In order to access the drivers, you need to remove the grille. Lay the speakers on their backs, remove up to 4 screws from the bottom of the grille that are at an angle, not the 2 that are perpendicular or straight. Then slide the grille down toward the bottom to remove it. There you will see the front driver panel and the associated screws. You'll also see the options you have for tweeters. These could be ordered as a kit that you assembled and fitted with drivers of your choice.

I built my Electrovoice from scratch using plans from Electrovoice the Aristocrat is a amazing speaker they where crafted bye Paul Klipsch one of the best speakers ever made where crafted bye Paul Klipsch , except I am using a set of Altec University mustangs for the drivers , another speaker I crafted from scratch is the Sentry 2 and i use Electrovoice TRXB 12 , 16 OHM driver , these speakers where also sold as a Kit from Electrovoice , the plans are listed as open source and any one can build them like I did mine are all hand crafted , made in Canada a 15 inch driver can also be used in the Aristocrat enclosure not many even know that unless you do the research the history of early EV enclosures .

Also, they are meant to be placed in corners to sound their best. It uses a similar principle to the klipschorn.

Wow not bad for $150, those cabs will clean up very nicely. A classic piece of hi-fi history.

I own a pair of Aristocrats with the 12 TRX speakers and the 8HD fiberglass horn and an Atlas PD - 5 mid driver. They are beyond fantastic. These Aristocrat cabinets are way under rated. They were designed by Paul Klipsh as were the "Seeburg Jukebox Extension" corner speakers. if you have a pair of Aristocrats in the front and a pair of the Seeburgs in the back (I put Altec 409 speakers in the Seeburg cabinets) you have a wonderful surround system.. just add a center channel speaker. Maybe an Electro Voice Marquis

Recap and rewire they will sound fantastic . look up the specs too you dont want to over drive them.

Already sound better than 90% of the speakers on YT. Bass seems underwhelming. Could be caps as mentioned or dried surrounds. Stiff surrounds greatly limit driver excursion. You did quite well my friend!

I have a pair that a friend and I gutted in the 80's and replaced with a new 3-way driver and crossover setup. No longer vintage (gasp), but astonishing. We also layered damping compound and foam inside them to cut coloration and echo. These speakers actually have a very special bass response (I'm a double bassist, BTW). Drivers DO matter, and they are VERY placement sensitive. With the right drivers, and corner placed at the right distance, you'll have an incredibly uncolored bass that can extend fundamental tone down to 20Hz like it is child's play.

@@MetalPackMan It was over 35 years ago. I'd actually like to refresh the drivers & crossover again. They are nothing super fancy... but they are much more powerful. A matched 3-way Peerless set with a dome tweeter and sealed mid. I've refoamed the woofers once. The problem with updating now is that a good sealed midrange driver seems hard to find.

how to remove the grill there is a piece of wood on the botom of the grill you unscrew that then slide the grill off the bafle board can be removed easily just unscrew it there where several drivers that could beused the EV3 EV2 EV1there where three difrent mmodels to choose from , you should use a tube amp to run them nothing past 40 wats better to be safe then sorry the t35 tweater is rated at 25 watts so you do need to be careful when playing them a good tube amp for that is a 16 watt tube amp .
