Just stumbled across your channel specifically to fix this exact same dryer. Has taken me a few goes but I reckon I've nailed it thanks to your vids. I love what you do. Legendary! Not only are you keeping junk out of landfill but you're educating the masses as well. Keep it up.

G'day mate, thanks so much for taking the time to comment. It means a lot. And well done! Doing anything fan related in one of these things is about as hard as it gets 👍

@@DIYDumpRat You're welcome mate and honestly your the difference between throwing it out and giving it another crack. I replaced the belt and realised after your video my idler was stuffed. I also fixed the fan prior to that but it never really extracted as much air as it used to... So I finally pulled it all out again and have realised I put the fan on the wrong way! What a goose. 😱

@@cprichmond Oh wow 😯 Mate it's like a whole new machine now! Good on ya, you totally made my day. It's not overly difficult really. The hardest part I reckon is just deciding to give it a shot. And the sense of accomplishment you get is the best 😀

Cheers for this mate. Helped me sort out a simpson with a split drive belt. Then just checked the idler pulley, and it was 25% collapsed. Remember to lube your idler pulley.

No worries Chris, yeah most of the time it's the idlers that kill the belts. I don't lube the idlers any more mate. I've done it a couple of times in different videos but I actually now think that in the long run it may be more damaging. Alot of lint and dust gets trapped in the greese and can do more harm than good. Dust and lint is basically what kills the main drum bearing as well. Although it can be a great temporary fix to a squealing noisy idler that's for sure 👍

My dryer has a clear belt for the fan at the back so its different. Its a Simpson Sirocco. Looks like the back end plus the drum have to come out as a unit due to the wiring. Where you have the drum bearing nut, I have a pulley wheel. I'll work it out eventually but need to pull it apart to replace the element which is large and round.
