For our first Elements, we decided to arrive on Thursday to allow for an extra day to get set up, familiarize ourselves with the festival grounds and of course enjoy some pre-party action. But nothing in my world ever goes to plan and we ended up being extremely behind schedule for most of the day.
Luckily there wasn't anything I was too upset about missing. Ophelia records was doing a takeover for the Pre-Party Thursday with Seven Lions as the headliner but after seeing him a handful of times, I know he's not the vibe I'm after. So rather than setting up camp and then rushing into the venue for the Pre-Party, we got camp situated, ate some food, hung out and then made our way for the end of the Pre-Party. The first night ended up being so chill that I didn't even really vlog much of our wandering and saw such a small amount of Seven Lions it didn't seem worth adding extra time to the vlog. But as always, I wanted to show you our arrival and camp setup process.
Our first official day started around 11am on Friday with birthday shots for Bre. After hanging around camp for the morning we made our way to the festival to film for Trowl at 4pm. After Trowl we stayed in the fest and wandered the forest while also checking out Olaf shortly before I took the stage. I played one of my most experimental sets to the biggest crowds I ever played for and then later got word that John Summit was also in attendance!
After my set at 8pm we headed back to camp to drop off all the camera gear, unwind, and get ready for the night. Unfortunately I think I unwound too hard or spent too much time unwinding because by the time it was time to go back in to the fest, all I wanted to do was lay down and sleep. Sadly this affected the vlog and allowed for no clips to be filmed between 8pm and 1am. But the only acts potentially missed were Lotus and STS9, some more funkadelic, groovy, jam-bandy kind of vibes and Tchami and John Summit which I could have definitely got down to but also am not all that mad I missed. The one set I am pretty salty I missed was Mersiv but the only way I was seeing that set was running off stage and digging into that large crowd with all my camera gear.
When I realized it was time for Ganja, I quite literally came back to life and saw and filmed most of their set from the VIP section. Those few GWN clips were the last clips that were filmed for the night and that was pretty much the end of my night as I just went back to camp and got the sleep I actually needed.
