I like the pattern interrupt and getting others involved. I thoroughly agree with the idea of being brief, passionate and not trying to sell the moment you meet someone. Great advice, well shared.

Thank you so very much, Mr. Gilkey. This is exactly what I was hoping to find. You made the process of crafting an elevator pitch short, sweet, and non-gimmicky. You've shown people who are launching a business how to sell themselves and their product/service in a way that's down-to-earth and not pushy. I don't think a person would feel like they were being pushed into a sale if the conversation starts this way. Again, many thanks for this video.

Amazing video, clear and concise. I love the firefighter example. I too love Simon Sinek. I was on youtube looking through elevator pitch examples and your video resonated with the why, catching the listener off guard and draw interest. Very useful video.

I work in sales, and also happen to make videos. two things to make your videos better if you're looking to grow your channel. 1. Vary the shots. You have essentially 1 shot from the same angle for 5 minutes. People start to tune out after 2 - 3 minutes of staring at a stationary subject. 2. include examples. Howcast has narration while showing representations of what they're talking about. Showing a pitch in action with some explanation of what's happening will be much better. I learned how to sell by watching other people sell. In contrast, I used to watch videos like this before i started working in sales. I learned more just watching people sell, then listening to the theory behind it. Theory helps, but most people just want to see it in action. That's what I came here for anyway.

Just heard about this 30 second pitch in an elevator. Everything I do is about giving IOs there such a thing as giving to much. Love this idea. Will let you know how this works for me excited.

Awesome video. Simon Sinek's video I found, gave no way to implement his suggestion of the why. This video is practical and makes sense. It can be easily adapted for a group 30 second intro. Shared a few places. Thanks :-)

Why not say “let me ask you a question vice can I ask you a question?” More likely to get a yes if you tell them your going to ask the question vice asking permission to ask them. Good guidance that I learned a bit more on building the relationship
