why is it every time I think I've recovered from Lis' passing, I go online, look for more interviews and then am confronted with the fact that she is gone. It's strange, it almost feels like I'm waiting for another series of the Sarah Jane Adventures to come out or something.
I was soooooo sad when I was told that Elizabeth Sladen had died. it was like a bit of my heart had melted. I admired her greatly and was a massive fan of The Sarah Jane Adventures. R.I.P Elizabeth Sladen.
Sarah being attacked by that Zygon when she's on the phone in Terror of the Zygons is pure Who. I watched it air when I was 4 or 5 and almost crapped myself. Brilliant scene!
Old school Dr Who fans are in mourning tonight.......it wasnt her time.......she seemed indestructable........R.I.P.......Sarah Jane Smith ........Liz Sladen.
R.I.P. Elisabeth Sladen. If I was to appear on Doctor Who as an assistant, you would be the one who has inspired me to appear on this amazing show!!!! XXXX
Tom and Lis... the quintessential DoctorCompanion pairing. Just watching this brings a tear to my eye... I met Lis several times and she was a wonderful and kind woman. The shock of her passing is only matched by how sorely missed she is a decade later...
I met Elisabeth several years ago while on holiday in Italy. She was a very charming and warm hearted person. She was happy to have a chat with me for a while about stuff. Its so sad that she has gone. ATVmidlands
Sarah Jane Smith is the most iconic character of Doctor Who, Its sad she has moved on and passed to something better than living on earth were as humans we have destroyed the planet
Like good wine, Liz aged so well. Such as shame she succumbed to cancer. I remember her best from her Dr Who heyday. Sarah-Jane Smith and Jo Grant are still the most memorable companions, as Amy Pond and Rose Tyler will be for the generation growing up.
When at 5:55 Elisabeth says generously of David Tennant et al "to play the Doctor you have to be a good actor and have that little extra charisma" ...I thought yes that's true. However, to play Sarah-Jane Smith for almost 40 years and keep fans of all ages interested and entertained took one hell of a talent. God Bless Elisabeth Sladen and how about a posthumous BAFTA.
Sad that they didn't ask her about working with Tom Baker. They seemed to have had a great chemistry together. Tom has always spoken fondly of Liz. When she passed away Tom wrote a beautiful rememberance about Liz and put it on his website. It's still there. I have seen some of the new series. Like it but no one has yet to match Tom for me. Just started watching classic Dr. Who and love the Baker years.
I love the part where Sarah Jane & Rose are comparing what they've met & Sarah Jane winning the contest with the Loch Ness Monster. Rose's reaction is great: "Seriously?"
The only thing missing from that scene is when Rose says she met the Dalek Emperor Sarah Jane should have come back with That she met their Creator Davros
I imagine plenty of people will think I'm messing around, considering Liz has just passed away, when I say I actually won one of those DVD's but honestly I'm not. I just came across this clip when I did a RU-vid search for her after hearing the sad news. Winning it feels a lot more special now. R.I.P Liz, brilliant actress :(
One of my two favourite female companions, both sadly no longer with us. I can only echo the previous comments, a lovely actress, lady, companion, a joy to watch. R.I.P. Lis If you do not mind, I will "Add To" my page.
+RassilonTDavros The other wonderful lady was Mary Tamm as the original Romana. As I`ve said before, I`m not keen on picking favourites, but when push comes to shove I would have to pick them. As they were the two companions to make the biggest impact on me. Romana`s character challenging the Dr. on an even footing as she did. :)
Elisabeth Sladen, you left too soon. I wanted to see some more Sarah Jane Adventures. You played the first companion I watched. What a terrible disease cancer is. Rest in Peace.
Man... Seeing this after all these years... still feels like yesterday when I heard the news in Secondary school. Still miss her. But, as the Planet of Spiders countdown clock for episode 6 says, "one they will remember forever." Rest well my Sarah Jane.
elisabeth sladen is amazing i would love to meet her i think she is a great actress and the doctor very best companion. K9 is also cool too. i cried my eyes out at school renunion and journey's end. i
The lovely Sarah Jane! I shall remember her for the rest of my life and as log as I'm sentient. A beautiful spirit See you in the next life.....maybe. X.
The Tom Baker Doctor who episode that scared me the most was the sutekh episode. Tom and liz will always be my faves, I grew up with them but David and billie come a very, very close second.
Looking at her vid preview photo I thought this would be a clip from the john noakes Blue Peter days in the 70s , Im amazed how young she looks I never thought I would fancy a women her age but Ive got to say I do!
I knew people would be writing stuff about her death just now....No more Sarah Jane Adventures...to think there was back to back episodes of Sarah Jane Adventures today on CBBC today which I watched.... and I was actually thinking I hope there will be a few more series! Only 63....
Hi Razza - not that I'm an expert on these things, you understand, but it was Katy Manning who got closer to a Dalek than was perhaps wise. She played Jo, the previous companion
