Just a very basic/simplistic way to build a makeshift cockpit that makes playing Elite Dangerous a very immersive experience. The video is mediocre a best. Maybe one day I’ll explain/film it better.
Thank you for the inspiration.... How the hell did I not think of making it in wood. I´m 2 failed prints from loosing my mind learning 3D printing.... Old school just works, great job.
Awesome build!! That is everything I was hoping to accomplish in my "inexpensive" setup. I've been planning mine for a year, gathering up items to incorporate. Hoping to get it built this year. Nice job!!
I have this big dream build with a sim chair and everything, but right now I’m just a Controller and a screen, but Buddy! You just brightened my day, cause Some Plywood and Keyboards and Markers and other ends and bits can Start the beginning of the dream build, I can feel I’d appreciate elite more with something simple like that.
Go for it! PS4 doesn’t allow much keybinding to stuff like peripherals , keyboard and toggles/switches like PC does. It’s the only reason I went with a simple build. If I was playing on PC I would have for sure had lots more working elements on the build. Good luck and have fun!! 07
@@vassdesign9021 I’m on Xbox one with Keyboard support, amazing Experience! But hopefully that cross play comes and we come across each other in the Black 07
This should be getting WAY more views. You've made something that's your own, looks fantastic and costs WAY less than shop gear. Unbelievably impressed and will be unashamedly using your design as inspiration for my personal build. Cheers, man.
Rogue System labels, eh? I see you too are a fellow man of culture. :P Seriously though, this is super slick and something I think a lot of people could build in a day or so.
Pretty awesome, would love to make a cockpit myself one day. One thing I'd love to do, but not sure if possible, is to use two tablets, hooked up to the game, to the left and right panels (systems and nav). So I don't have to do the "look left" and "look right" thing to get at them. This is sweet tho
That looks F’n amazing! I just showed Hunter and Dawson your Gaming video first. Immediately afterwards, I showed them the setup lit. And said that is what you play with. They were both stunned. They couldn’t understand how you could have afforded to have such an awesome computer setup. And then I showed them how you made it. Brilliant. Really. Thanks for making the video!
Hahaha. Thanks man. It’s years old now and collecting dust behind a door, as I don’t play ED anymore. Good times. The wife enjoyed watching me play haha
@@vassdesign9021 Hahah I see, well I was planning something like this but for X4 Foundations. In any caseI hope I earn enough points to have wife watch me play too 😂
That looks so awesome, personally I would personally run a something like ED trade pad on the tablet XD That black light looks so good such a amazing build! good work!!
"This video is mediocre at best" I disagree! IMO this is at the top quarter segment of 'look at my gear' videos on youtube, in terms of quality. What stands out? + Sound and voice is clear + Camera movements are balanced, smooth and stable + No effing music overlay + Non vertical video ;) Not to miss out on saying it is a gorgeous project and excellently executed.
WOW - SUPER COOL! The nerd in me is already thinking of upgrades, like turning some of those fake buttons into real buttons. I have been watching videos on building button boxes, and it would be easy to incorporate those into this awesome cockpit. I had no idea a black light would make that much of a difference.
Thinking about doing a similar build - was wondering specifically how you went about printing all the blacklight reactive cutout false buttons? The final effect looks great
Nice work! I really like the combination of highlighters and blacklights! I might steal that solution for my own build. I'm pretty new to the game, and actually use it more as an excuse for the cockpit build, which is my main interest :-) What you are running on your main tablet?
This is very creative and looks super well done! This setup looks great for roll playing, but I recommend you now invest on a PC, so that those tablets you have could be used in-game instead of just be playing aesthetic videos!!! Imagine having usable MFDs instead of using button combinations on your HOTAS!
and now there is the cool app (which got a free-unpaid version too!) GAMEGLASS so you can run those apps on multiple devices and actualy have a real use of the touchscreens on that board! Jeez, I am playing with this idea of making some sort of cockpit (actualy, since I am a builder, carpenter, I think about a whole damn room made as interior of one of the ED ships ♥ ) but I thought I am foolish one and none does such things aside my crazy brain... how wrong I was! ♥
I dig the concept and simplicity. Personally id try and make sure any and all extra screens are actually tied into the game in some way or another, such as for looking up Plat prices and places to sell them or other such things.
This is years old now, but thanks. This was for PS4, which you cannot connect peripherals to. Had it been on PC that I was playing, I would have 100% connected all sorts of systems to the game. The tablets did work real time with sourcing for goods online to help plot routes, but mostly it was all just for looks and resources. Thanks!
@@vassdesign9021 no problem, I've been on my semi annual elite kick the last week and have been scouring the internet for nice homemade setups for inspiration on something I'd likely never actually make
Only because it’s PS4. Can’t customize with actual functional switches and toggles like you can on pc. I would have gone for more functionality for sure otherwise.
Love it, is that the TFlight 4 HOTAS? I got a Next Level flight rig, and with the power of velcro have got an okay set up. This would really improve things...awesome!
Ikarros The smaller white tablet on the left is solely for aesthetics. It has a few different looping animated computer interfaces for ambience. The main tablet I use for various things. It too, can play animated interfaces, but I use mostly for accessing ED web sites for searching for commodities etc. I also use it to keep a ships log/notes, and some soundboard buttons.
Well you got me there not bad at all with the materials you had on a budget .you may in time add side panels for other equipment then able to add your three monitors to it that what i would do nice job mate you could also send the pics to Down to earth astronomy who will show them on his youtube channel as he asks for anyone with pics of there build to send pics to him.
I run a few different things depending on what I’m doing. I have some computer interface animations that I play just for ambience. I have a log book that I use to keep notes/findings or just logs. I use it to access ED apps and web sites for sourcing. Or just use it for browsing the net. It’s tied into the main keyboard.
It’s PS4. Unfortunately you can’t do anything with PS4. If I was on PC, my build would have been quite different. It is mostly for creating a cool environment, but at least there are some functional parts.
The black light really made a difference! how did you get the highlighter parts to look so neat? didyou draw around them with black marker or paint or something?
I bought and returned so many HOTAS ONEs for my Xbox all new all updated before hooking it none worked the French company that bought them out is a joke 😑😪
me imagino que el panel de botones para asistente de vuelo, tren de aterrizaje y todo lo demás funcione, seria triste y decepcionante que también sea decoración!
