Another tip for newcomers: Before you visit engineers or super popular systems, switch to solo play until you are ready for a fight. Gankers and griefers spend all their time near engineer stations. With their fully engineered ships, you don't stand a chance in your sidewinder.
@@doursen by super popular I just mean systems that a lot of players visit. Like Sol, for obvious reasons, and Shinrarta Dezhra. because it's the home of the pilots federation. Engineers are places where you can go to upgrade your components. Where you can unlock overcharged shields and weapons and such. Different engineers specialize in different things. Honestly, you'll have to look them up. There is waaayy to much to talk about in one comment here.
Just something I thought of, stations always have adverts plastered over them - so why can't Fleet carrier owners open up their vessel to advertising for a bit of income to help with the collosal upkeep?
Yes, but in my opinion will be a lot more "simple" in the form: don't get me wrong, this is not a bad thing, because I personally believe that star citizen's developers are trying to do something that probably is too complicated in terms of content and they tried to do multiple tasks instead of focusing in few things (like core mechanics and less explorable planets but with more content). I would be really happy to get something like this.

I got my SRV completely stuck in some debris while out on the periphery of the Bubble once. I considered relogging into non-Horizons mode or self-destructing, but opted to call the Hull Seals instead. So glad I did! The Seal arrived in just a couple minutes, nudged his ship into position, and popped me out of the handle like a pro. It was amazing!
The fuel rats saved me I was about 150 ly away from any station without a fuel scoop because I'm new and inexperienced. Well I had someone fueling me up in under 3 mins
@@boundlessmatter4361 Yep there are links online and they will give you Instructions to follow. Most can jump over 50 ly at a time so it usually doesn't take long for them to get to you. I recommend getting a fuel scoop though
@@boundlessmatter4361 Give it some time. Do transportation missions and mining stuff and you will start to get a hang of it. You will eventually get an invite from an engineer. That's when things start to speed up
I literally do none of this. I'm a very chilled player and the freedom to do what you want on this game is never highlighted enough. I just land on moons and take off again. I create my own relationships in each station and mentally remember that I have a wife and child in the R.A System. And I never carry weapons as I just do transport missions. Commoditie trading etc. Buy low sell high. I use an online guide for that and I plan multi drops. I end up very busy haha. Feels like an honest job. Eventually I'll be able to buy a big ship for me and my made up family. I did recently obtain the sol pass and about 2 years ago I thought I'd never get it but decided to grind it out. I'm glad I did. However how I feel like I don't dare leave sol as it's too amazing. They did such a great job on this game. I play on xbox one. Can't wait for odyssey
@@1robdragon1 i bet main reason is becomes its poorly optimize even for pc wi ti 3090 cards. it more then triple the graphics card requirement with that dlc. stupid move and it fked everyone
@ ED has a sort of half cross-play. Every player across platforms affects the same universe in real time. However, you can only see/interact with players that are on the same platform and not in solo mode.
Omg I'm so overwhelmed! I had known about Elite Dangerous for many years but I though it was just an arcade type shooting game in space. I had no idea it was this complex! I just got ED for free on epic games and this video popped up in my subscriptions so i thought I'd take a look at it and now I'm so intimidated to play it. But also super excited cuz I love astrophysics :)
You really don't need to feel intimidated. You can learn at a steady pace and accomplish loads whilst doing that and once you've learned stuff, you can start to learn more. Get used to flying your ship and doing a few missions - trade and combat - then start to upgrade to a better ship and think about engineering to improve it even more. Regarding Engineering, a word to the wise: most people, when starting on engineering, go for the obvious first choice, which is to upgrade their FSD for bigger jump range. To do that, you need to go to the Deciat system and griefers/gankers know this! Make sure you go into Solo mode when visiting this system to avoid the knuckle-draggers until a time as you can at least have a chance to defend yourself.

On my first day back after a two year break I read about that event on GALNET and thought it was a joke because I didnt know players could get fleet carriers now. Only found out later that people were actually doing that when someone invited my friend (who I convinced to get the game) onto their ship. “Oh sweet, these guys are gonna hook me up with free mining gear”
Imagine my surprise today when I docked in Obsidian Gateway and i heard your dulcid tones. I was all like I "know" this voice.. did you and your corporation make the station or are you a part of FDev? I just felt very connected to the universe as I went about my station business knowing that my favourite ED RU-vidr was talking to me. Awesome and thanks for your work Ant. Commander -Ranger- at your service O7.
To play E:D you either have to love The Black, as they called it in Star Trek, or love grinding for hours upon hours, without end. I'm coming from the first group, and there are days I wish I belonged to the second.
I am very new to ED and the amount of work community has done to make the experience more fun, immersive and everything is just... astounding really. You cannot find something like this in any other game.
That's a game review. You can't find anything like this in any other game because other games stand on their own and provide some fun and purpose. People have fun simply playing them and don't have to put so much effort to make the experience bearable.
Margonite yeah, just go to alpha centuri and look for Hudson orbital. When you get there, then you should get a cutscene of an anaconda coming out of the security docking bay. It looks really cool! Also make sure to pick up a mug or two whilst you are there!
I haven’t played in over a year and just came back for the greatly increased bounty voucher payouts. I made 25 mil in around two hours. Maybe I’ll get a fleet carrier....in a year or two
Ah the forums. Nothing spells hate-love better for me. I would only recommend a "read only" relationship to this one for new players, lest they anger the daddies.
Also worth noting is Mobius, who provide a PVE Co-op Experience for Elite: Dangerous. All it can take is one rather nasty person to come blow you up for no reason and set you back quite a bit, and we as humans have this thing called 'negativity bias.' If you don't wanna fight other players, or would rather avoid getting ganked while still having some form of Open play, check 'em out
There are glaring flaws with the game, but it's still worth playing. The experience for several hundred hours is great (until you start to see the cracks) and there just isn't anything like it on the market.
Been playing for about 1 week, I still don't know what I'm doing. Even when I follow a tutorial, I don't know the logic to how the tutorial was figured out. For example... find a beacon to get directions sounds logical, but the pre-logic to figure that out is missing. How do you conclude that you need to find a beacon to get directions. I need the information that leads to the conclusions, not the tutorial after the conclusions have been made. How for example does one conclude that they need to go to MAIA to get materials? I went to MAIA, and they had sold all the materials. The game doesn't seem to lead you to conclusions, it seems to lead you to RU-vid tutorials based on missing information.
Yeaa thats why im watching this video as well. I want to like the game but they made it extremely difficult. Clearly they never tested it with people other than themselves before release
New player here. I finally caved and got it for £6 on sale. Finally hearing about getting space legs made me get it. Although i like the realism, No Mans Sky had way more to do so hopefully Odyssey can bring that flavour in too.
@Tony Stark in terms of realism, yes. But in terms of creativity, exploration and world variation, absolutely not. It’s also much more complicated to really get started. I do like it though.
@Tony Stark yea it’s called horizons, i managed to get that dlc with the game for £6 all together. That’s another thing that makes NMS a bit better, it has free dlc.
I also came back yesterday haven't played in like 2 yrs and hmm for some reason i can't bookmark anything like i used to be able to just by clicking on em, bookmark but it legit does nothing now. I play on xbox.
One of the things that bothers me the most in Elite: 6:43 Look at the size of the ship and the size of those 2 stars... And the other thing as always, the colors and the nebula's are so much better in Space Engine, that I need to stop watch Space Engine for weeks before going back to Elite...

How can you actually know the size? It all about speed. The apparent size is only dependent on camera distance! So in that way it's 100% realistic. It's the FTL and faster-than-FTL that makes it distort the scales.
Lmao really shouldn't be. If the past 5 years have taught me anything its that FD actually doesn't play this game. Literally only adding first person walking to a game with many fundamental grinding issues lol
I off and on have been playing for a few years, but didn't know about some of this stuff. This is why I love your channel. Actually playing a lot of missions out of your station in Maia right now, surprised you didn't give yourself a shoutout in the "interesting places" bit :p

Elite Racers: Elite dangerous racing club and Elite Pirates provide a lot of likely minded people to some other type of activities. Also Fleetcomm HQ is pretty good community.
Great video Ant, nice summary. I am really enjoying the new influx of players, so many are making their way though our doors. It revitalises us as stagnant CMDRs and brings back the joy. 😎

As a former Elite Dangerous player. Take a blank piece of paper. Then take a pencil and draw a line very very very slowly, from one side to the other. That's the basic thrill of Elite Dangerous.
1. You know all the cool stuff you see in trailers and in youtube streams of people who have put hundreds of hours into the game. You won't see any of it.

Hows the death rate? And by that I mean, is this anything like Eve? I left Eve years ago thanks to everyone shooting 1st and asking questions NEVER. I'm looking for a system that I can explore in. The whole "Kill or be killed" mindset takes over a lot of online community based games and I am not wanting to get ganked around every corner
I'm having so much fun with Odyssey... I just picked it up the other day... Honestly, why didn't anyone tell me this game was basically what Han Solo did before the story of Star Wars? It's fucking amazing.
I've been gaming for a very long time on console and PC and I can't remember ever looking forward to an update, expansion, Title like am for Elite Dangerous Odyssey. ED is tight and complete as it is now and if they do LEGS as well as they done everything else so far...this is going to be a WOW moment. Star Citizen is showing improvement towards completion but I just know Frontier has GOT this and "Can't Wait" for this game changer.
Me and my bro just started playing it’s pretty cool but it’s a crazy steep learning curve as the video states lol. But it’s definitely fun once you get the hang of stuff but you may find yourself googling a lot of stuff
potential new player here, not interested in pvp but exploration and mining etc. What ship would you recommend as a first upgrade. i also plan on evading npcs combat i’d possible.

New players DO NOT land on any fleet carrier until you know what you are doing. You will lose your permit to the starter zones and risk getting abducted by the carrier's owner.
Alternative Title : A video new player should NOT see. I mean..man...you know the beauty if ED is seeing things for the first time... You could speak about those placed BUT NOT SHOW IT. I'm sorry for people who still didn't experience these things in the game, as the video is a complete spoiler!!
"the" most important thing for new players to know : never play the open/public mode. Stay in solo because open is completely and utterly brimming with gankers and the likes - just like in literally every other multiplayer game out there. If you want to actually have fun : solo. If you want to feel pain and/or do PvP : open. Be prepared to lose everything in open - because : you will. There is always someone with an OP gank-fitting which will delete your precious ship in less than 20 seconds .... just remember : its possible to oneshot thargoids. Imagine what these weapons do to you.
I wish I could just have fun and not have to read and watch video tutorials on how to dock.. This Game is too Complex and Time consuming to just learn.. Looks cool but just too much!, its overwhelming.. like here's the 6000 page starter guide and watch 300hrs of tutorial and training.. Ugggghhh I just wanted to play a cool scifi game and have FUN.. Very Disappointed and frustrated.. I just jumped from Metat back to Cocholo Station and im about to run out of fuel and its not letting me Dock anywhere.. not even sure what im supposed to be doing.. I feel like im missing out on a lot and have no Help to understand how to play, dock, and not run out of fuel.. I gotta go watch some videos and read more to figure it out I guess.. Think I will just go back to playing csgo..
I just got the game the other day since I was told it was close to No Man's Sky and EVE. Have been loving the game! Currently I'm grinding Exploration with my Cobra through Road to Riches so I can buy an Anaconda. The only thing I'm lost on atm - Is what to do next and the "middle" to "end game" purpose.
