Elite Wishlist - Atmospheric Gas Giant Flight [Elite Dangerous]

There's a lot of things to do in Elite Dangerous - but it's a game that could also do with so much more - this is the start of a few videos, running out some ideas of things I'd like to potentially see added into the Elite Dangerous galaxy. First off, atmospheric flight within gas giants.
I doubt this one will get any traction with Frontier to implement, but you never know.

A few years back I did find some gas giants listed as having human settlements, so there is hope they will be in the game eventually. They already have both the code for atmospheres and volumetric clouds in the form of the Maelstroms and Lagrange clouds.

You have no idea how badly I've been wanting them to implement this into the game. You can find videos of Braben himself talking about adding this into the game when it was in development ten plus years ago. However, given the state of the game and the company, I don't think Elite will ever get any new substantial content. I wish there was something I could do about it though, or something we as a community could do about it.

Yeah, the original vision is vastly different to what we have - I do have hopes out for some new content, but I'm increasingly getting the feeling that current Thargoid arc is wrapping up E:D and one of the un-named projects that FDev is working on is the next instalment - Elite Deadly maybe? Assuming FDev manage to weather the current storm they're in.

I haven't had the chance to buy Odyssey yet and have kind of stopped playing, because I got a little bored (and kept failing at combat). Subscribed to your channel as I need to start playing again. That X52 HOTAS is not gonna use itself...

X52 is a good stick - that's my go to if I'm not capturing footage (using an Xbox 360 / Xbox One controller is much easier for camera control). Thanks for the sub, hope you stick around 🙂. Oh one other thing - if you want Logitech's software for the X52 on Windows 11, you need to look at the Windows 10 downloads on their site - otherwise the download page throws a blank...

What I want to know is how to get to HD 47246, Helium Giant tourist location have a 9mil mission but no permit. Honestly I just want to go don't really much care for the mission but don't like abandoning them.

It would also be cool if elite put out a new type of ship specifically for extreme atmosphere pressures, but maybe I'm stretching it.

Or at the very least some pressure-resistant engineering unlocks for existing hull and armour. I was also hoping that atmospheric gas giant flight would have come with Horizons or at least Odyssey. I get that procedural generation for earth-likes would be a nightmare to implement, but gas and maybe water worlds I figured would be of a more realistic stretch.
