@@pepincuatro2865 And start directly on a flamenco guitar. learn compás first by learning rasgueados with muted strings. You cannot progress until compas is internalised and rasgueado techniques of which there are dozens should be also mastered separately from falsetas, arpegios, tremolos, etc. imho
@aadigard85 I disagree. I don't subscribe to the traditional way of learning an instrument by starting off slow/easy mode for months and years on end. I find many lose interest. Especially folks like me with ADD. The challenge is what drives me and makes me learn quickly. When learning new instruments, I always targeted some of the most difficult songs. In them usually contain every technique and difficulty in them. Yeah, you'll bash your head off a wall for a year mastering it, but by the time you do, you'll be really familiar with many fundamentals and techniques that will go a long way to learning much easier songs and picking up new things. Not saying going back to properly learn and practice the basics is crucial... but I pick up instruments much faster this way.
My flamenco teacher told me he had a much easier time teaching students with no previous musical experience than those like me who had spent years learning classical. I think part of the problem (at least for me) was the idea that I should already know most of the beginner stuff. It was very humbling realizing that I did not. I can only speak about myself tho.
@@EliteGuitarist I've been trying to learn flamenco for years. The only real teachers out there are rare . I like Ruben Diaz as well but he is more into intermediate and advanced lessons. Love to start a few lessons in October.
That's awesome! Yeah, at first that combo is kind of like trying to brush your teeth while dribbling and basketball. Glad to hear you got it! Keep it up!
The explanation is flawless, but I could have done with at least three or four rounds of strumming to fool around with. I´m so used to 4/4 that I need a lead to snap out, and thinking of a walse 3/4 don´t do the trick. But I´ll try again tomorrow :)
One thing I’ve noticed about a lot of people who play flamenco guitar is the flourish of the hand after hitting the final chord. It’s useful for swatting away all of the women who will throw themselves at you once you’ve mastered it 😎
For anyone trying to learn flamenco, GET A FLAMENCO GUITAR! Not a classical. The action is too high on a classical and when you try to golpe while strumming, your fingers will end up catching the strings
