@Hiponakte You surely do not know anything about Elizabeth 1. First of all when the Spaniards tried to invade England in 1588, they were defeated by England. When Elizabeth inherited England, after her sister Queen Mary 1 died in 1558, England was a very poor country, by the time Elizabeth died in 1603, England was the most powerful country in the world!! Elizabeth was the first monarch to financed trips to the new world through Sir Walter Raleigh and the state of Virginia was named after the virgin Queen by Walter Raleigh. She was definitely a hero in more ways than one!!

@@nancyhunter3293 no. England was not the most powerfull country in the world in 1603, not at all. But she paved the way for Englands greatness :)
@sirmaneigarodriguez7019
@sirmaneigarodriguez7019 2 года назад
@@nancyhunter3293 , all that you assure is a stupidity. England was not the most powerful country in the world in the beginning of 17th century. Spain dominated Europe and seas all over the world, at least, 60 years more after the spanish armada were defeated in 1.588. In fact, the war between Spain and England lasted more or less 19 years, since 1.585 untill 1.604 and SPAIN won this war, not England. The spanish armada in 1.588 was only a little incident that have been enhanced by the english historians to strengthen the british pride and english patriotism. England only started to be a great country in the eighteenth century but queen Elizabeth marked the way.

I have a fascination with Queen Elizabeth, mabye its because she sticks out as female monarch in a male dominated European world at the time? bu there was Isabella? also Kate Blanchette is perfect casting , I cant think of a better modern day actress who could pull it off. Although I always imagined her calmer,introverted and more collected than how she is portrayed in the film yelling 'off with their heads!!" and running around crying but then I guess it wouldn't be much of a film.

The Royal Navy was defeated multiple times by the Spanish Navy, but History omits it. Francis Drake, was defeated in Veracruz in the battle of San Juan de Ulua in 1568. The Invincible English, invasion fleet sent by Elizabeth I to defeat to the Spanish navy, was defeated by Spain and its navy in 1589. Edward Vernon was defeated in Cartagenas De Indias by Blas de Lezo in 1741. Horacio Nelson, the great victor of Trafalgar, was defeated in Tenerife, Spain, 25 of July of 1797. Before the Royal Navy was the owner of the seas, its predecessor was the Spanish Navy, who dominated the seas and made Spain the first global empire in world history, and also has the merit of discovering the American continent. (America is a Continent not a country).
