Elizabeth Boleyn, née Howard (circa 1480-1538), was a key figure in the English Tudor court as the mother of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII, and grandmother of Queen Elizabeth I. Born into the noble Howard family, she married Thomas Boleyn. She had three surviving children: Mary, Anne, and George. Her daughters both became mistresses to Henry VIII, with Anne later becoming his queen, drastically altering England's religious and political landscape. While Elizabeth remained somewhat in the background of these dramatic events, her status as a mother to key figures in English history secured her place in the annals of the Tudor era. After the execution of Anne and George on charges of incest and treason, she retired from the court and died just two years later, her death primarily overshadowed by the tumultuous events of her children's lives.
