Yes, these trains won't be using the main shed at Paddington (with the big step up) once the full Crossrail/Elizabeth Line service starts; they'll be stopping at the new platforms underground, hopefully with level access between train and platforms.
@@ameerali.ouarda Ah yes I meant that did you know if they were fitted with onboard signalling like the TVM system they would’ve been able to go at 140 MPH?
This makes me think that I wished that the full line was operational. But they keep delaying. If it was open now, there would be so more shortcuts to other stations.
The Liverpool Street to Shenfield local service is also running as "Tfl Rail" at present. Both will change to the "Elizabeth Line" when the two lines are connected up to become one long through route via the new tunnels. (This also includes the new branch in from Abbey Wood).
Before the pandemic closed T4, some were going into there instead. When the service opens fully via the Crossrail tunnels, it's intended for some to run to each, T4 and T5.
Ughh this train is so silent. I hope that trains in the future aren't silent like this one, it's why I love the 96 Stock, the sound on departure is incredible. I just hope trains don't become like this one. But I like literally everything else about the Elizabeth line, its carriages looks so comfortable.
The fish-eye lens view of the empty train and the blurred sounds from outside are very similar to Kubrick's " 2001: A Space Odyssey " - computer voice and all.
Don't forget the use of the mainline shed is only "temporary." When the cross-London service starts, these trains will be using the new platforms underground. These may well be at the same height as the entrance door bottoms.
Get the ticketing right. The price gauging of rail costs in England is pathetic. If the media was not so lousy the brits just might realise how high their rail fares are. Utterly pathetic. The rail should be in the hands of the government. As it is it is subsidised.
I thought they demolished Acton main line station years ago? I used to travel that line when it was Thames trains from Slough to Paddington and still remember the stink of curries at Southall. Trains never ever used to call at hanwell or iver. What a waste demolishing a station only to remake it later. I guess the Heathrow express doesn't stop at those pesky little stations? That train is insanely long but almost empty. Must be lots of people like me boycotting public transport until masking is abolished and using the car.
No, that was Westbourne Park they got rid of (just the Main Line platforms, not the Underground ones). Acton Main Line hasn't gone anywhere in the last 70+ years, and has recently undergone a major refurbishment. The Heathrow Express runs non-stop from Paddington to the airport, first stop Terminals 2&3, then on to 5, but these slower Tfl Rail trains serve most stations, including Acton M/L, Ealing Broadway and Southall. And, yes I agree with you about the face masks now.
The seating looks bloody awful, too many sideways seats. I see people are already putting their feet up already on the facing seats. Also no luggage storage spaces. Knowing the British public, even though the aisles are wider they will be blocked with suitcases quite often.
I've sat on the sideways seats. In comparison to most of the recent deliveries of trains, they're a lot more comfortable than most, thanks to some relatively deep seat cushions. If you want a really uncomfortable ride, try the ironing boards on the 700's (on Thameslink) and the 717's (Stevenage/Hertford/Welwyn G.C. to Moorgate services).
@@adnanabid6444 Journeys go into Heathrow and out to Reading and Shenfield. These are not "Central London," and I would have thought the requirement for luggage on journeys to Heathrow would be obvious. Plus passengers changing onto longer distance trains at Reading, Abbey Wood and Shenfield, implying overnight stays.
