A few big differences between Warren & Bernie: Bernie has been committed to Medicare for All from the beginning. Warren only recently declared she is fully supportive of Medicare for all. Unlike Warren, Bernie is committed to small donor fundraising even in the General election. Warren has said she would only do small donor fundraising in the Primary, so Bernie won't feel any sort of pressure to bend on his policy stances once elected. Warren originally planned on voting for Ben Carson as Secretary of Housing, but then flip flopped when she was criticized. Warren worked with republicans to repeal the 'Medical Device Tax' which would have helped defund the ACA, in order to appease the Medical Device Industry in her state. Unlike Warren, Bernie has a long history of progressivism dating back to the 60s. Warren was a staunch Republican up until the late 90s. Bernie has also been one of the longest serving members of congress, he was a mayor in Vermont, and has a lot of experience in governance compared to Warren. Warren voted twice to increase the Military budget brought forth under Pres. Trump, which appropriated over $81Billion for purchase of Aircraft, Weapons, Missiles, and Combat Vehicles. On top of that it appropriated several Billion dollars toward other parts of the DoD. Bernie wants to cancel all student debt, Warren wants to implement a means-tested solution. A Means-tested program will likely further split people into the "haves" vs. "have-nots" and are easier to attack, dismantle, and weaken. Take a means-tested program like Welfare vs a universal program like Social Security as an example. Welfare is very unpopular whereas Social Security is very popular. There is also a more nuanced distinction between them I'd like to make, with all the political differences aside. The one area I think Bernie absolutely dominates where Warren doesn't, is with rhetoric. They both are offering tons of plans, but to me Bernie is the only candidate with a strong message of how it will all be executed. If you want to implement even a fraction of either Warren's or Bernie's plans you need a radical change in voter engagement in this country, and I have never seen a politician who can rally young people and apathetic people into the political process as well as Bernie has. In 2015 he was nothing but a small Independent Senator from Vermont, and he went on to win 23 contests against the establishment backed former First Lady, Secretary of State, and Senator of New York. Now he is arguably one of the most popular politicians in America, and he has changed the political rhetoric among leading Democrats. Just look at the incredibly influential organizations that stemmed out of his 2016 campaign: Justice Democrats Brand New Congress Our Revolution

Fellow Bernie people, don't get too wrapped up in this. Endorsements don't really matter anymore. No average American knows what the Working Families Party is. Keep focusing on the task at hand. Don't spend a week crying about this. Keep fighting.

The Working Families Party has more than 10,000 members. There are 56 Committee Members whose votes are weighted at 50%. Strongly weighted. Very strange that the organization refuses to release the vote tally.

waitwaitwait...This is simple math. Elizabeth + Bernie got 80% of the vote. Elizabeth got over 30%. If she got over 40%, they would have said over 40%, so let's give her the benefit of the doubt and say she got 39% at most. That means Bernie got at least 41%. The party would have endorsed Bernie if 1 person meant 1 vote, but they weighted it so their leaders could choose whoever they wanted.

WFP endorsed Crowley in the AOC primary and election. They would not take down their endorsement even after AOC won the primary.

Putting it out there, I'm a far bigger Bernie supporter than Warren, but even putting bias aside, I would be highly suspicious of this endorsement for one reason: this same organisation endorsed Joe Crowley over AoC. Something has changed within this organisation. Everything they claim to be in favour of is Bernie to a tee, and in fact they endorsed him over Hillary back in 2016. So what's changed? I think Warren is flawed, but I don't think she's the wolf in sheep's clothing many do. But there's no way her policies match the WFP's stated goals as closely as Bernie's. This is further stink that there is some backhanded establishment plan to push Sanders out for a Progressive they believe they will have more control over and be able to block.

Illicit THC cartridges are making people sick, but it is not being reported properly. In the UK, the government promotes vaping, hospitals have vape shops in them. This illness does not exist there. If kids are vaping, can’t they crack down on stores selling to underage kids? Or put a limit on the amount of nicotine? There are so many options. I have been a subscriber to your channel for almost as long as I have been using RU-vid. I have always respected your opinions and really look forward to hearing it.

Bernie and Elizabeth should run some numbers and give a projected dollar amount of how much more in taxes we’d pay for Medicare for all and the average amount we’d be saving. People are throwing out all sorts of ridiculous numbers to try and dissuade people from being for Medicare for all. If they had the amounts, I think even more people would get behind it.

Is it unreasonable to think that the 56 committee members might be even more college educated, on average, than the rank and file? I have seen them make about 4 ill-advised endorsements besides this one. Locally, they supported a union busting boss with no vision over a union organizer with vision. Unfortunately, they backed the winner. Perhaps that is important to them.

After the WFP endorsed Andrew Cuomo in 2010 and then did so *again* in 2014, it's hard to take their judgment in races seriously. That was as clear a case of "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" I've seen in recent politics.

What kind of voting procedures do You have in America? I thought endorsement of political party means co-delegating candidate, right? Is there no law on public and ballot voting and counting of results? How long do you need to keep the voting available for re-counting? Any political party document needs to be public by default, right?

Cenk talks about the difference in the supporters of Warren and Sanders as being one to do with class and education. It would be more accurate to say that the Warren supporters are more politically engaged than those of supporters of Sanders. Sanders is basically retaining the support of just the socialists and those voters who havn't thought much about it yet but remember voting for Sanders in 2016.

If members only counted for 50% of the vote, that means a minimum of 20% voted for Warren, not 10%(because only half of their votes counted), 25% if 20% of members voted for other candidates. Still they should disclose the numbers, either candidate would be fine with me. And they shouldn't have to choose just one out of all the runners, if the split of 80% of the votes was close they should say both Sanders and Warren have their support in the primaries, they will back either if they win. Sanders/Warren or Warren/Sanders 2020 would be awesome.

I find it really odd that "Working Families" does not seem to believe in "Democracy". Democracy is one vote for everyone with equal weight. Who do they think they are? The Super Delegates of the Electoral College?

I think it would be super interesting to see Trump try to debate Warren. I don't think he could come out of that clean at all. She is way smarter and smoother than Hillary, and he would resort to childish behavior when he was frustrated by her. He would then either be made a complete fool or start attacking a woman outright; probably both.

I think it would be most useful for progressive groups to tell their members to rally behind Sanders or Warren in the primaries, and that they support the Democratic nominee in the general election.

I don't disagree with their decision of declining to release the vote counts. If as an organization you're endorsing a candidate and then and show that, say, 40% of the people that voted were for Bernie, then you're undermining your own endorsement. Yea, Bernie supporters are going to be butthurt, but I bet no one would be questioning the vote tallies if Bernie was the one getting endorsed.

Best case senario is if it comes down to Bernie vs Warren. Neither should step down and let the other go up against Biden and possibly lose.

UFW (United Farm Workers) has endorsed Kamala Harris, but the vast majority of the members of that union are Bernie supporters. I may be wrong, but it seems like it's just the leaders of the union whom are endorsing Warren.

Lack of transparency is always a bad sign.

WFP also endorsed Andrew Cuomo for NY gov in 2014 over the progressive challenger Zephyr Teachout due to political pressure and promises. This was for Cuomo's second term, so his corporatism was obvious by then. However, and likely a result of Cuomo not living up to his promises in his second term, WFP then endorsed progressive Cynthia Nixon in 2018 which caused internal rifts due to threats of retribution from Cuomo against member unions. The point being, there was likely lots of political maneuvering behind this vote.

Endorsements of organizations does not mean so much to me. As a member of AFT (American Federation of Teachers), I was not in favor of their endorsement of Hillary Clinton because they rushed to do this early without a process which was inclusive to members. Many members did not even know they were doing an endorsement process. They you find Randi Weingarten, President of AFT, is good friends with Clinton. A real endorsement is not rushed, is inclusive to those in the organization, and the process if fair and transparent.

It makes sense that The Working Families Party would endorse Elizabeth Warren. I believe that the discussion about showing the vote would help their cause and not enable the right.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did genuinely support Warren, since so much of her platform is focused specifically around the family, but transparency is a must.

As a member of the WFP and a Warren supporter, I think this outcome is excellent for progressives. I am progressive but I am definitely working class, and this development offers real benefits to the progressive wing of the party. Progressives need to spend more time listening to working class people. It will help reshape progressives who are not in the Bernie camp. How we shape our policy goals is definitely impacted by who is sitting at the table while we come up with our answers. I think this move will help move the whole progressive wing closer to a Bernie position in regards to the practical need for progressives to come down from their so-called ivory tower and get to work on the street level. I hope we can all build a bridge between Warren and Bernie supporters. It is the same thing I would have hoped for if Bernie won the nomination.

You're wrong, Cenk. You can't call yourself a progressive organization if you primarily give support and more voting weight to the interests of the college-educated, professional class over those of the working class and the membership, or endorse a candidate who's clearly the lesser progressive, as is Warren compared to Bernie. Between this endorsement and Joe Crowley's over AOC, the WFP has completely discredited itself.
