That area is normally very shallow and walkable until you get close to the west side and then the current kicks hard in a deep channel. Please check the fallen trees on the west side of the river bank behind 101 Market as anyone swept under that tangle of branches will not get out due to the strong current.
It’s a little late for that and I don’t believe comments like this are needed. A mistake was made that has caused this family trauma and now they will all suffer this tragic accident. You can’t change the outcome so why ask questions like this that are irrelevant now? We are human and we all make mistakes, just some have greater consequences than others. My heart aches for this family and to me this father is a hero.
