@@NeonCoffeeCat I think most people know that, but Jeff Lynne wrote and composed almost all of the ELO hits (apart from the early Roy Wood songs), he plays several instruments, is an extremely good guitarist and he produced, played and sang on albums not only for ELO, but also for Paul McCartney, Del Shannon, George Harrison, the Travelling Wilburn's and Tom Petty. You don't get to do that unless you're very talented. So yes, quite underrated.
My dear mother who passed away in August of 2018, was born in 1942. I was born in 1962. I was born 2 days before her 20th birthday, on 12-24! Now she is the one who introduced me to ELO! IT was this song!!!! She had it blaring on the stereo!! I about fell over! I had no idea that my Mom was darn cool. I was in junior high when she did this!!! This song, I dedicate to my mother! Some day, hopefully we will rock in heaven with Jesus together! Thanks for great music!!!! Bless you for posting!!! Made my night!!! I miss my mother so much, we would sing this song at the top of our voices!!! RIP MOM, happy Moms Day. Love Michelle
showed this to my 10 yr old grandson and his face was a picture! He kept on about it so I bought him a guitar for Xmas. I told him " be a quarter as good and you will have made it" Time will tell
One of the greatest bands ever. Wish I was 17 & hearing this for the first time again. Gonna build a time machine & go back ! Who’s with me ? Ha ha. If only. 👍👍👍👍
Many have tried to sing Chuck Berry Classics. And Many have failed but this is one of the few that actually improves on the original version! Credit goes to Jeff Lynne! Roll Over Beethoven! Rocking in two by twos!
Another band that doesn't recieve the recognition it should! Mr. Jeff Lynne..genius with this rendition!! Watch, Listen & Learn young musicians of today!!
Jeff Lynne was a GENIUS who did things with classical instruments and progressive Rock NO ONE ELSE EVER did. Rosie Vela compliments his songs PERFECTLY!! Long LIVE JEFF LYNNE & ELO. I'm 64 and I listen to them still...every week.
I listen to Jeff and ELO as it gets me out of bed and in a good mood as I have depression and anxiety badly and it’s hard to do. Thank you Jeff and ELO.
Please review Dr. Daniel Amen’s two books “The End of Mental Illness” & “Feel Better Fast & Make It Last “. These 2 books will give you tips and strategies to improve your situation! Best of luck to you!
You're not alone Debra. I've had depression in varying degrees all my life and had every "treatment" from "raw" ECT in a straightjacket to hypnosis. Music has and continues to help me more than ANYTHING. Keep listening Debra , you will "get there ". God bless you and good luck. Sending you all my love, from a fellow sufferer.❤.
Probably the only cover version of a song that I ever thought was better than the original. Awesome Jeff, you were my idol in the 1970s. But all credit to Chuck Berry for an awesome tune and lyrics.
Jeff definitely has one of the best voices in rock n roll. He's overlooked because people often don't appreciate the best until it's gone. That voice is unique and instantly recognised. He rocks! And that guitar playing is fab!
Where TF are you getting that? He's loved and LAUDED all over the world. You think that saying he's underrated makes you sound like a real music appreciator? No.
This has got to be the BEST live performance of "Roll Over Beethoven" - EVER. It's so damn tight and zappin' in the groove. Jeff's lead vocals and guitar riffs suck the breath out of me. Pardon, while I reach down on the floor and pick up my jaw !
Utter genius, he and many others influenced me to play the guitar and the piano, bass and drums and obviously the guitar 🎸 I'd also like to add that it doesn't make a difference in what year you were born, if you've got good taste they you have good taste. The golden oldies are the fucking best 👌
One music lesson mr Sunderland asked the class to bring a piece of classical music in as our homework. One lad duly brought the lp in . Ah very good said mr Sunderland. He only saw the word Beethoven! He duly put the lp on the turntable. The lesson started so well and quickly descended into laughter. Tbf mr Sunderland took it well!
Outfuckingstanding. Jeff Lynne is one of the most underrated musicians in the world. He's worked with and produced the Beatles, Dylan, Harrison, Roy Orbison you name it. perfect engineer, perfection in musical recording itself. master craftsman
This band is awesome the kids today don't like this music it not pop I hate pop and rap I like old country and old rock and roll thies guys know how to get with it great guitar
Good to see Richard tickling the ivoyrs again as he does so damn well! Funny, but unless you've seen Jeff play guitar live as I have, most people don't have a clue how damn good he really is!
Jeff Lynne *is* a genus and is still performing. ELO is on tour right now in the U.S.A. Check listing for tickets, because at 76 years old, this will likely be Jeff Lynne's last tour. Spread the word.
I think you might be confused. You speak of talent and there is sure as hell not any talent any longer.Saw P MC.The band took a break and it was Paul by himself. He said to us if you can handle it i can.Give this bullshit what is music, give them an acoustic guitar and push them out on stage. They wouldn't know whether to go shit or go blind. Two people that i think could make a record by themselves is Jeff Lynne and Todd Rundgren.Don Mac said it best,The day the music died.
because they love to make music, today it's only the record companies that want to make fast money and with differnt electronics the worst fake singing to sound roughly or less good
Jeff Lynn is a musical genius. You all know he writes everything including all orchestra music. Go figure he and John Lennon were schoolmates and lived about 4 blocks from each other growing up.
thank you, yourself Mr. Lynne. I've been castrated these 35 years for being a fan of EL0, and for certain this is the most listenable rock song youv'e ever done live. Maybe it will take another 35 years for all the tone deaf rock fans to adapt to real genius-- but you and Mr Wilson have been keeping my heart alive
Ohhhhhh so amazing, that's still music that rocks. Forget all these pop stars who only look and nothing else. It catapulted me back to the 80s. Thank you for sharing.
Wow. I loved this. Listened to it over and over. Brilliant. I see there are 77 people who gave it the thumbs down. WTF did they expect to hear FFS? Unbelievable.
