ELO's - Standin' In The Rain

From their 1977 album Out Of The Blue this is the opening track from the side dedicated to the weather (which ended with Mr Blue Sky).
A great track which stops, starts, goes fast then slow then fast again, ooh its all o'er the shop! I played this at full volume when I was 14 and next door would thump their disapproval in morse code.
Again I've disabled the comment rating cos some dick-head with questionable parentage has it in for me.
Sorry the synch is a little out during the quiet bit. Windows Movie Maker's fault!

Well it is only this track that is called Standin' In The Rain. The album Out of the Blue was origianlly 4 sides of vinyl and 1 whole side was dedicated to the rain which consisted of 4 tracks running into each other; Standin' In The Rain, Big Wheels, Summer And Lightning and the old chestnut Mr. Blue Sky. This collection of tracks was called 'Concerto For A Rainy Day'. Hope that helps.

I found this video maybe 10 years back. I come back to visit every now and then. My dream as a teen was to have and play keyboards like this. I guess it’s still not too late, but why bother when I can enjoy this. I am not even nearly this skilled a player. Bravo!

Superb talent here . Standing in the rain probably my favorite elo instrumental along with fire on high which i feel has the scariest opening to a song ever then elevates into something else . Daybreaker another great jeff lynne classic no one can come near the abdolute genius that is jeff lynne

My brother and I used to listen to Concerto for a Rainy Day when the weather outside was disrupting our skateboarding. Summer holidays 1978....happy days :-) Think this is your best cover....it's SO close to the original! Brilliant.

Yes, M1 and DW for 'synth' sounds, Korg O5R/W module for mostly strings and drums, Roland RD300 for the piano parts. I also have a Korg MicroKorg for vocoder parts but I didn't have it when I made this video so no 'Big Wheels' vocoder segway at the end! Many people have found the chords useful. Glad you like the vids. New ones soon - as soon as I figure out this new AV capture card!

The black/white monitor computer is running the sequence that I play to, when I reach over I'm disabling the metronome (which you can't hear but I can as an annoying beep). The 'bars' screen shot as the drums kick in are notes in the sequence. The other computer on the right is recording the video you see via a good old analogue camcorder.

OUT-FREAKIN-STANDING. How long did it take you to do all the programing,figuring out all the voice's and parts. I don't know of any sheet music available for this piece. Alls thats missing is the vocoder parts. Again hats off for a great performance!

Very nice ! I think you are an experienced player. Is it easy to play the songs of Electric Light Orchestra ? The synthesizer borrows parts of the earlier ELO track Daybreaker.

Wow, I've been working on a E.L.O. tribute for such a long time and all I needed is a great bass player but now that I've heard what you do, I think that you are a 'must' in my tribute.... ;o).......
