yeah, that's a sad reality for a lot of people, this would allow them to play, socialize and partake in at least some parts of life. not a bad life, all in all.
Especially when he said his favorite game is civilization. He said he had such trouble playing it with the mouth control. It's awesome to see someone who can have a decent life, hopefully this will be affordable for everyone who is paralyzed.
Obviously this isnt perfect, to ppl stating the obvious and wanting to focus on the negative, rather than appreciating how far we've come technologically and continue down this path with no slow down in sight. We're gonna be living in a totally different world in the not too distant future. And im excited for whats ahead, for better or for worse, this is reality.
In the future, most of us will have cybernetic implants to compete against and work together with our AI counterparts. We'll have AGI/ASI coworkers who will outperform people on virtually all level and for us to be comparatively relevant, we'll need a neuralink ASI. Plus, we'll all want to hook into the Matrix for work and fun.
This guy would pop off on Twitch for sure. He’s a nice, cool guy. He’s great at explaining stuff, and the novelty of using his brain to control everything is just so cool.
Super fascinating! I think most people don't repost this sort of thing because they have opinions of Elon, not because the news isn't amazing. Thanks for focusing on the news, it's why I love this channel.
Elon has changed humanity for the better. Probably the most influential person of this century. I love that guy, he rescued me from shitty ISP DSL monopoly who I payed for 20 years only for them to let the DSLAM overfill and downgrade my speeds because they refused to upgrade a single thing. That is coming from someone using Starlink at 300mbs down instead of DSL 3mbs down. He helped created some of the most efficient rocket engines that have actually been used, launched the largest spaceship into space, created what many thought was impossible with reusable rockets. Innovated electric car production creating some of the fastest street legal electric cars, also helped push for vision automated driving which is 10x safer per mile already. Founded openAI and helped move us forward towards the AI that many of us use everyday to increase productivity. On and On and On... Elon haters can't think for themselves, they can only do what the news programs their NPC brains to do, no original thoughts what so ever, only what they are programmed to think.
The fact that they are so invested in anti elon brainwashing that they'd shit on this kind of miraculous technology tells you a lot about their character and none of it is good
This is the worst this technology will be. Fast foreword 5yrs n he'll have an Exoskeleton helping him walk on the stage of a Ted talk. 10/June/2024 for reference. We are on the brink of crushing many paradigms of today. 🖖🏽
Not even using a exoskeleton he will be walking using his own body if youve seen the nueral link conference than youll know what i mean (they sent signals to a pig to control its leg)
My money is that the science breaks away from the idiot that proclaims to be the reason for advances is removed so he stops being the limiting factor.....
I know i was not looking at the screen when he said it.. he sounded fine with that, almost in a happy tone, yes guys its great, let me show you one sec, ill just kill myself and we can move on with it :) 10:19
Lol naw it's cool, I used to delete myself in video games, sometimes the way things line up, make it necessary. Stay off the Internet, and touch grass, talk to real people , who have fun, if you actually think this is wierd.
@@northofbrandonTo be clear they did not fix it mechanically, they boosted the sensitivity of the ones still connected. This data will probably help avoid this in the future.
I've been fascinated by brain-computer interfaces ever since I saw a segment about it as a young man 20+ years ago. It's hard to put yourself in someone's shoes who's in that sort of situation. Truly, you don't even know the freedom you know.
I would like to say thanks to the team, this is fulfilling the promise of technology. It might not seem like much but it makes a difference, it's the little things. ✌️💚
"i want to do it right now instead of taking to you right now" as he's clicking targets while he's talking to us, that ability to multitask for a person who has his handicap, who can only accurately handle things with his mouth, it's like he was gifted a new hand, every time I imagine myself in his position I tear up
Thank you for uploading this, this gives me so much hope in our future. Such technologies can improve the lives of so many people that are with disabilities.
if I was in that guy‘s position I would volunteer as well I can only imagine the bitterness and depression. He struggles with daily being trapped in a broken body! I hope for him it improves his quality of life even if just a little
I am so happy for him that he can do these things now. Imagining how it must have been before that, it's probably like people caging up animals for all their lives, but he seems lucky to have a family who cares and that technology came that far. Who knows, maybe he will be one of the people to be able to move again by himself. I wished more people would see the positive side advanced technology can have like in his case.
"I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved."
It's amazing. Way, way bigger than the level of attention it's getting. Sure, problems at the start like all tech, but downstream, this is game-changing for so many. Rogan should totally interview Noland.
Wes, I find your "More info" section a little barren at times, for example it would have been helpful to include names and links in a readily accessible form without timestamps. I appreciate the fast-moving nature of the space, we just need more info!
I'm particularly impressed by the fact that he is able to control the cursor while he's talking, that the brain waves that signal speech and thoughts do not interfere with those that signal intent to effect external movements.
17:00 If I had to go decades only being able to move my head and then was suddenly granted the power to move a cursor, I don't think I'd ever stop moving it either.
I wonder if there are any emergent control loops that happen between the human neural net and the machine neural net... like could the human-machine system get into a feed-forward loop where the machine neurons start amplifying the decisions of the human and speeding up the human's processing speed?
You can tell that this man had completely given up on trying to be happy and you can hear how much hope this tech gives the most disparaged life anyone can live. ❤️
Thanks for sharing this. It's FASCINATING to me how they have been training him. And this video gives such great insight into the process. I've now followed him. He has such a great personality and attitude.
I'm interested in being able to read images of people's minds. Like if they think of a school bus, our virtual view is shown of what we are visualizing. They've done basic studies of this at universities back in the 2000s. So if they could do that a decade ago. What could they do with it now with a higher resolution?
Neurolink is a brilliant technology and i think it should branch off to at least two different versions. One version should focus on forming this type of control or control of other machines without a surgical implant, something like a headset. And the other version should remain an implant but rather then allowing a paralysed person to control computers it should create a link between their brain and the rest of their bodies so their paralysis could be cured. Sure what i am saying probably will not be available in the near future, but it should be the direction we take. I am pretty sure engineers and scientists in neurolink are already thinking about such things and probably even more.
Really cool to see this in action. Okay, so what I'm wondering is, we have a person with thoughts and brainwaves moving a cursor... Could we reverse engineer that brainwave/thought connection to give the cursor (linked to a system of hardware and software) its own set of thoughts, feelings, etc. based on its environment by linking it with some simulated brainwaves and associated thoughts (via LLMs configured with mechanisms for memory, recall, self reflection, Visualization of Thought, etc.)? Like an autonomous and conscious cursor?
The amount of data Neuralink is gaining in regards to mapping the human brain is insane! Imagine this being the data that creates true AI, and then that AI destroys us thru Neuralink.
I WAS LIKE WHAT,??😕🤨 I was not looking at the screen when he said it.. he sounded fine with that, almost in a happy tone, yes guys its great, let me show you one sec, ill just kill myself and we can move on with it :) 10:19😌😌
I’m glad he’s alright and I wish him health and good fortune. And I hope people at Neuralink will be able to bypass the rather barbaric coin sized hole in the head thing in the future.
I'd like to sugest you something that will change your life if you trust me. A Quest 3 + VR Chat. If you cant play because of controllers, tell me and them I see if I can help
Well the technology is about 20 years old if you have been following it. This now has a lot more funding then how it when earlier studies were done. I mean whats next for NL my guess they will follow the work of Miguel nicolelis. The training seems a lot like a decade ago when I was using Emotiv and their eeg system. Though in this case it seems like they are able to repurpose more of the neurons because they don't have to inhibit actual movement. It is exciting though to see it moving more main stream.
Moving the cursor with your eyes, or your mind may be an old tech, BUT, this is a WIRELESS device, where as the older version was NOT. The wire had to be attached to an battery pack, but this device is totally self contained inside his skull with battery attached. Also, it used to take hours and hours for them to attach the probes, and it only had less than 15 probes, but now the surgery is mostly done with a MACHINE totally in an automated mode after the skull is drilled out, and there are much more probes that is attached to the brain itself.
@@1flash3571 yes I understand there are infrastructure like aspects to it that are more advanced. But moving a mouse cursor is not new. It does seem they are likley also using better algorithms behind the scene. We have advanced a lot in that area also.
Thank you for sharing. It’s incredible and will give so many a new lease on life… Too bad having this being covered by Health Insurance will be denied as a cosmetic surgery … Ya know breast implants, brain implant so I can have partial control of my life .. Same Same … Denied
I value your content for the awareness and analysis you bring. This is more of a rebroadcast with light reaction which seems less valuable to me as a subscriber.
We are all already cyborgs, recently watched the transhumanism upload by Dr Waku yesterday and he explains cybernetics in a very easy and ellaborate way.. Thanks and Goodevening Wes
i could see average people just wanting this for laziness. Holding up a phone and moving your thumbs gets tiring - plus it's dangerous cuz it causes neck problems and carpel tunnel
