@@flaviogarcia7105 I actually don't think it was a "sham" marriage. At that time, Elton really loved this women and thought that - despite everything - he could make it work. And she also really loved him and was not just after money. Apparently she was devastated with the divorce.
Im happy that He had David right now. But i think she suffered a lot, she was really into him and Loved him honestly, but He is gay, this marriage would never work.

@@RebecaTaylor If you've heard of Cold As Christmas (In The Middle Of The Year) that's about a marriage that failed and it's like Bernie knew that was gonna happen. I can't imagine how many people told that he was making a big mistake and going to hurt her really bad when she finds out he was gay and never loved her in that way at all. She lives in the UK and is a recluse. I don't think she's got over Elton hurting her and sued him for $3m mentioning in his book several things she allegedly did when they were married and said she didn't want her name mentioning at all. Lots of people claim that Elton was tired of his relationships failing with men and thought marrying a woman would solve it.
I'm sorry, but the marriage could certainly have worked. Lots of them do, despite one partner having same sex attraction. An attraction does not mean one is forced to act on it. Marriage, as anyone who is married can tell you, is not all fun and games, but sacrifice because you love your partner. In short, he had a choice.

Ehhhh I don’t think so. Everyone lumps together Elton John, George Michael, and Freddie Mercury into these debates. While Michael and Mercury were attracted to women at least physically, it think Elton John was definitely very much in the gay spectrum.

She said he was a virgin....I got a bad feeling when I saw her being interviewed by that old noseybody Piers. He later slept with a man (his mgr) after coming to the U.S. in 1970.
She was very beautiful. I’m sure she still is. I’m sure being married to a famous man came with a lot of trauma, especially a famous man with drug and alcohol problems.

While ice, and leather weren’t as big in the states…they did do very well in European countries.

Furthermore, wrap her up I believe as a top ten hit in many of those countries. “Leather “ indeed did not do well…I think top 10 in only one country. Of further interest was that both songs were videoed about women. Nikita was indeed a romantic one and I think it worked…sure he looked awkward at times, but there was a sweetness and sincerity about it, the way he looked at her . i think he was so alone and full of addictions, surrounded by self-serving people, the various relationships that he had didn't work, emotionally he was not well and i think he really liked renate, desperate for someone to really love him, the problem was what in fact he was and he was deceiving himself.
