I spent years waiting for the right time to sing this to my wife. Now I’ve lost her. I deeply regret not signing this to her all of the times I had a chance. Guys, don’t wait. You never know when you may have run out of time. RIP honey, and you were definitely my “One”.
I will never be with my one. Circumstances just will not allow it. I've loved her for 17 very long years. Since I first saw her. I'm very glad you were with your one. Its sad you never sang this to her. But no doubt she knew she was your one and knew how much you loved her. My one will never know the depth of my love. I'll never be able to show her just how much I love her. Hearing that she is happy and healthy keeps me going. Its all that matters to me. I always love to hear she is doing well and living her best life. Just because she's not with me is irelavent. I need her to be happy and healthy til the end of her days because that is love. When you rejoice in the happiness and health of someone you love even tho they are married to another man that is true love. And I hope her husband is absolutely wonderful and I hope she loves him completely. I love her you see. It's the real deal.
I can NOT agree with you MORE. I wanted to do it for my last girlfriend but I lost her.. My 10th anniversary with my new G/F is in November. I will do it at that time.. Thank YOU and I am so sorry for your loss
This was a bonus track on the "Believe" cd single and instantly became the best song I'd ever heard. The studio recording is brilliant, but the simplicity of just him and the keys live with some strings at the end truly elevates the beauty of this song. My future wife doesn't know it yet, but this live recording will be our wedding song!
I don't know how it's even possible, but soft rock music can make me kinda nostalgic for a world I've never been and never seen. It calms down and gives a feeling of infinity of time as if our life is not so short at all. It gives me meaning and desire to keep living through this difficult time
I'm going to see him in September 2019 in Las Vegas for his farewell yellow brick road tour. I've seen him so many times. I will cry when the concert is over. I will miss seeing him in concert. I've followed him for 46 years. He's like family.....you are brilliant Sir Elton...♥️
Agreed. I love that man. A brilliant artist and the fact that he sounds BETTER live is a tribute to his talent. There will never be another like Elton.
Just him and his piano. Nothing else. Nothing else needed. A towering genius. He is immortal. He'll live forever. When i hear this i think of the love of my life. Shes a woman i can not be with. Circumstances have been against me for the last 17 years since i first saw her and fell deeply. So deeply. My love for her will never ever end.
Its amazing how his singing is detached from his piano. Those who sing and play piano must know exactly what I mean. Its so hard to master both at the same time time.
There's an old video here J2e4NlnLr28 of him singing Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word that also exemplifies that sort of tempo rubato of the voice that you're talking about.
He is! And how wonderful that he has figured out how to live his life off the stage without drugs or alcohol. Had he not learned that in rehab in 1990 at the age of 43, we would have lost him years ago as well as all the wonderful (a lot of it sadly under-rated) music since then!
Loved listening to him when I was like age 7 now almost 50 years later still love him and his music he is a pleasure to watch and hear him sing these legendary songs
Meu pai era fã de Elton John especialmente dessa música. Faleceu há 7 meses. Meu DEUS queria tanto voltar ao passado e poder abraçar novamente meu pai. Te amarei pra sempre pai. 😢
OMG I found it!! The footage of the live version on the CD single "Believe" !!! My absolute favourite song AND especially the version of it. I hope to play and sing this some day when I finally find my love ♥♥ Thanx for sharing.
I first remember hearing this rendition on the B-side of one of his tapes I bought. The other side had "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" Finally I actually get to _see_ the performance.
I am so excited ! I am going to see Elton John on 9/22/18 in DC for his Yellow Brick Road Farewell tour... I CANNOT wait to hear him play this !! my favorite song of all time !
I remember being there one of those nights at The Greek. Pretty sure it was this night. And I remember this song as the best of the night. Still a breathtaking performance.
Comes from the album The One...1992 i think. Some lovely songs here. Check out Cold as Christmas one of his best ballads but not played often. So many good songs. Tragic Elton fan.
Elton, seeing this performance ...the killer piano, the killer vocals, it’s like a religious experience. I don’t know what was going through your head as you sang and played but thank you. Thanks Bernie for the spectacular lyrics. . I devoted this to my adorable, gorgeous husband on our 8th anniversary.
I saw you dancing out the ocean Running fast along the sand A spirit born of earth and water Fire flying from your hands In the instant that you love someone In the second that the hammer hits Reality runs up your spine And the pieces finally fit And all I ever needed was the one Like freedom fields where wild horses run When stars collide like you and I No shadows block the sun You're all I've ever needed Baby you're the one There are caravans we follow Drunken nights in dark hotels When chances breathe between the silence Where sex and love no longer gel, oh For each man in his time is Cain Until he walks along the beach And sees his future in the water A long lost heart within his reach And all I ever needed was the one Like freedom fields where wild horses run When stars collide like you and I No shadows block the sun You're all I've ever needed Baby you're the one And all I ever needed was the one Like freedom fields where wild horses run When stars collide like you and I No shadows block the sun You're all I've ever needed Baby you're the one
out of all the 'strangers' in the world today. Elton would likely the saddest for me if he were to exit this world. The profoundly amazing music this man has produced is ridiculous
Não sei porque mas penso isso também, apesar de ter por ai muitos cantores com qualidade. Mas esse viveu em uma era diferente e sua voz é inconfundível.
Just him and his piano is what I like the most I also love Billy, did you ever notice he never did solo concerts? The true genius of Elton, versatility, it's a lot more challenging to take your songs and strip them down for a solo show. Elton needed those challenges. Legend, one of a kind!!
While Billy never did solo concerts, the closest you can get are the QnAs where he performs some songs like New York State Of Mind, Vienna, She's Got A Way, etc. solo. But I do agree Elton is the better pianist and he's a genius.
From the start I knew you are my guy, you're the answer to my prayers, you're the man of my dreams, you're the ONE. I never had a single doubt about you. God gave me you and we both know we're for each other. I will love you with all I have and with all my heart and soul, for life and beyond you'll be my only man. I love you so much my Jimbo. Kissing you ~ Ranzie
