George Harrison: I'm the tax man. KC (& the Sunshine Band): I'm your boogie man. Allman Bros: ramblin' man Bob Segar: travelin' man Michael Jackson: man in the mirror EMP: lucky man REM: man on the moon Neil Young: old man Mick Jagger: street fightin' man Beatles again: I wanna be your man.
I can't help but to cry while listening to this song. It reminds me of how fast life passes you by. I was twenty just yesterday. Now I'm 78, with one foot in the grave. I, too, am from the NYC area, including Hicksville and the Village Green-area. A great song for the ages.
I feel your emotions. I only heard this version last year on the radio. It was 9am February 13th 2021 and my husband and I were on our way to his sister's house to join family (during covid restrictions) to wait for the hearse carrying his 53 year old sister and take her to her funeral. We looked at each other and wept. I held my husband's hand and said we need to be strong for the rest of the family now. 💜
I know how you feel. Im 45, and like has gone by so fast. I feel like 70 is just around the corner if make it that far. I can't believe how fast it all went.
Still kicking, old timer? I’m just messing with you. Hell, your generation has thick skin. You’ll be alright. Perhaps you’d like to spark my curiosity? Probably not but it’s worth a shot. I’d like to ask you a question, if I may. Well, a few questions actually. What are your current thoughts/feelings towards death? How have those feelings changed throughout your life? Are you at peace with it? Thanks in advance if you choose to entertain my morbid curiosity. Now for some context. I’m a 33 year old man who’s had my feelings towards death change drastically over the three decades I’ve been around. I won’t lie. Death used to terrify me as a child. Even as I grew older, I would find myself having anxiety over the thought of my own demise. It was a fear that I’m sure every human being that’s ever walked the Earth has felt. The fear of the unknown. Over the past five or so years my views have changed. I feel that I’ll be much more receptive, even welcoming. I feel as though I’ll be at peace when the day comes. If you’ve made it this far I thank you for your time. Please, only answer my questions if doing so will not upset you in any way. Again, thank you 🙏 Raise a glass to your good health! May you live to be 100, my friend!
I went to a billy joel concert in the nineties, he sang the first few lines of the opening song and hardly sang the rest of the night cuz the audience of about 15,000 drowned him out singing along and they knew every word of every song by heart!! Incredible really, ive never seen another concert like that before or since.
Hello There, Billy would approve of my cover then, Because there are NO SCREW UPS, But don't just take my word for it, If you could spare some time and go and have a listen to my cover of this great song on my channel, That Would Be Great, Many Thanks, STAY FRIENDLY ; 0 )
Elton is a classic, he makes a big mistake and just plays through. This is a sign of a real pro musician. They don't get phased by losing track of where there at and recover like champions.
@@marktobin8144 he missed his entrance on the line "I have squandered my resistance" so Art paused and they got back in time with barely a pause. It's my favorite version of the song.
Little known fact about this performance that I only know because I was there... But when Elton messed up the last verse and they ended.. Jay Leno came out and said "Elton wants to do that one more time..." And then he went on to say how this never happens because everything is filmed live. So we got to hear it AGAIN! But apparently they ended up using the first take anyway! lol Glad we got to hear it twice though!!!
4:16 Elton John: It's nine o clock on a Saturday and the regular crowd shuffles in, and the manager says. It's me you've been coming to see so forget about life for a while. Billy Joel: ok...
@@valentinacardile4771 Don’t make it sound so mediocre lol. If it was that easy everyone would be doing it. There’s a reason I know Billy Joel and not the musician you mentioned. So he must be doing something right.
Bennato appena passabile .... Anche nei testi Joel è fenomenale : Summer Highland Falls... Honesty .... Shades of Grey.... Vienna ... River of a Dreams ... Ecc ecc ecc
Shows that Elton John is a true pianist and professional, to be able to play another person's song, in pitch as the person who wrote and sung it (Joel), even though he sings in a completely different pitch normally. I would never thought of this being played as a straight duet on two pianos; and the fact that they are different pianos and be able to keep to each others time and pitch. True musicianship and rare to see.
It's 2023 and I could watch these two play piano and hopefully will until the day I die they are such a great musicians. I'm definitely partial to the piano as I took classical lessons since I was five I could actually read music before I could read
Its nine o'clock on a saturday and the regular crowd shuffles in And the manager he says is me youve been coming to see to forget about life for a while :D
The brilliance of Elton John is supplemented by the brilliant lyrics of Bernie Taupin. Billy Joel writes the music and the lyrics. So many fantastic songs from both camps to last us all a lifetime.
Queen, Elton and Billy Joel are all my favourite!! Although Billy is probably my favourite just because his music helped me through a tough time in life.
Imagine if new artists today were this good. Even with all the tech stuff out there now, you still can't replace genuine talent. Well, I guess real talent never needed help.
They’re both the reason I started playing piano when I was 11 and it’s been 11 years later and they still inspire me and bring me joy. Two wonderful legends.
There was a time when I thought Billy Joel was Elton John's successor. I didn't know there was such a great collaboration. You can get a kick out of their singing voice. Thank you for the precious video.
Honestly it just shows that these two awesome legends are truly singing and playing here. No lip syncing, no just going through the motions. Just two amazing talents displaying their gifts. Truly badass in my opinion
Although I have seen Billy Joel 6 times (the last time at Hyde Park on 7th July 2023) and I have seen Elton 3 times, the concert tour with them both performing together at Wembley’s old stadium was my biggest disappointment as Billy was unwell and had to pull out on the day. Fortunately the night was saved by a tremendous virtuoso performance by Elton who carried the whole night by playing both his own and Billy’s songs. Quite a few people in the queue turned and left but he was amazing and did everyone who stayed proud, especially when he moved everyone from the cheaper seats to the nearer rows. Billy is a great performer but on that night Elton played his heart out and really win my respect!
I've always hoped that Billy Joel and Elton John had collaborated at some point. I don't know why, but I've never gotten around to checking until now. It's great seeing two legends singing together and having a great time.
Beginning in 1994, Elton John toured extensively with Billy Joel on a series of Face to Face tours, making them the longest running and most successful concert tandem in pop music history.[1] During these shows, the two have played their own songs, each other's songs and performed duets.

I love this! I remember listening to “Piano Man” on the radio in 1977 while prepping cabbage for coleslaw before the restaurant opened for the evening.
Two of the BEST piano players of our generation. Look at the skill concentration required too play both the piano and harmonica at the same time plus some singing REAL SKILL!!!!
I've always enjoyed this song, but both Elton John and Billy Joel together?? Absolutely stunning! Don't think I've had ever goosebumps like I got from this duo. 2 fabulous performers. Thank you, gentlemen! ❤

Seeing them perform this, and all their other tunes, back to back....at a live concert...was just mind-blowing. The entire audience sang along with every single tune both of them played. A truly highlight of my concert life...starting in 1961, age 14.
I remember hearing this song on the radio back in '74 I think it was. Heard it many times since. Many times at concerts including Hartford with Elton John. I guess that was 2002. Now I am the old man at the bar making love to his tonic and gin. From young to old, Billy Joel has always been there for me.
Well, I'm 25 and can say, this is music. Thats exactly how to touch the Soul. Sad to see that this times are over...at least it seems like. I would love to see them live together
WOW I can't believe I never knew about this version! what an amazing performance even with Elton messing up at the end! what a pro just keep playing the show must go on! Jay was right it doesn't get much better than this! Billy Joel and Elton John playing one of Billy's greatest songs! fucking awesome!
I remember hearing this played at the end of the jay Leno show in the 90's. I was amazed how well they sounded together. The talents of these 2 entertainers is awesomesome.
I saw the two of them performing together in a concert back in the late eighties early nineties in South Philly! It was so awesome that I went again the second night!!!
I had not seen this performance before and WOWOWOWOW!!! what a great combination!!! Even with Elton's goof, it was still a stellar performance!!! Thanks for sharing!
What a blessed to a late night show to Jay, A rare to ever see together, I love for years them both and have them to early in then the older years. This is Great! ♥
Being a musician and singing and performing are tough but the genius of Billy and Elton is their incredible talent as songwriters..Composing is a whole seperate rare talent...They are two of the best ever...Rock on Elton and Billy...The Best
