Very interesting, so good to go back in time and see Jessie's homes and the places he worked at. Just shows you how generous and caring Elvis was to buy his Grandad a car.

If anyone is interested, you can look up the Columbia Mantel Company and there are images of the building from 1928. It also shows images of the inside. Thank you so much Billy for all your continued research and introducing us to new Elvis information! ❤️

This is very cool. That Beaver Ave house is aboout a block from my family's house when I was growing up. My best friend Greg and his family went to the same church as the Presleys. When Greg and I were in grade school around 1970-71 ( I was about 9 or 10) we were selling candy door to door as a fundraiser for school. We went to Elvis' grandma's house on Beaver Street to sell her some candy. I lived on Picadilly Ave. Greg lived on Bicknell Ave around the corner. When she answered the door I asked her if she was really Elvis' grandma and she told me she was and she bought some candy from us. I went home and bragged about meeting Elvis' grandma. A few years went by and I was telling my older brother we saw the "Cadillac" Elvis has bought them parked in the garage...all I could really see were the fins on the rear fenders and assumed it was a Cadillac, because that is what Elvis always bought as gifts (or so we thought). My brother knew cars, and he always doubted the story about Elvis' grandparents living around the corner. We showed him the garage and when he looked in the window he saw a 57 Ford...not a Cadillac. So we figured she was just a nice old lady who was humoring some dumb kids. Fast forward some 30 years, there was a story in the newspaper about a man who owned Jesse Presley's 57 Ford and was restoring it. The article talked about the Presley's living on Beaver. I believe that car is still in Louisville somewhere. Can't wait for part 2.

SG Kentucky is so amazingly beautiful this Spring. Elvis knew family was important. The furniture I have had a number of beautiful pieces that even from the 70's that I got that were cheap for my first marriage that are even nicely made and today are worth alot. Thx for another INTERESTING story of the Elvis puzzle. 😁👏

So many times I have drove by these places and had no clue of the association to Elvis's Grandfather. I'm a huge Elvis fan. I have a tiktok channel devoted to just Elvis. I went to Graceland last weekend for the first time! I'm going go make plans for a road trip to see all of this also. My aunt dated Elvis when he came down for the Louisiana Hayrides, so I grew up hearing great stories ❤ he pulled up in the yard in Rodessa Louisiana and sang to all the kids (my dad also) and my grandpa didn't know who he was lol my grandpa would not let her go on a date, she was only 16. So they ate ice cream in the car and he played and sang for her 🥰

Another example of exploration into the Elvis puzzle and local history at the same time. The buildings and company histories are amazing. Also the fact they operated for 115 years and the buildings still exist !!! I am curious how they powered operation this size when built ? Hope your able to follow up on Columbia. The rocking chair grandpa picture at end is nice teaser for more installments. Looking forward.

100 dollar gift back then would be 1000 dollar gift today. J.D. was a real piece of work from what I've read. But it appears Elvis wanted no hard feelings and tried to get along with all the family. Dodger is buried at Graceland which shows how close Elvis and Lisa Marie were to her. One thing Elvis got from his grandpa was his passion for nice clothing.

I've been waiting for this one. I'm born and raised in Louisville and have known about Jesse living here and working at Pepsi but couldn't find anything else really. My father in law still works at that Pepsi plant today although hes a merchandiser so most of his time is spent at stores around the area getting their orders. He has worked there over 30 years but he said he doesn't think he ever met Jesse, which would make sense if Jesse worked as a night guard. Anyway thank you Billy for this and cant wait for part 2. It never ceases to amaze me how you find out some great information. By the way, you were exactly right about most of those houses being bad parts of town. That's what we in Louisville call the west end and it's where 90% of the shootings and Murders in the city happen. While most of the people down there are good hard working people who just want to live in peace, there are gang problems with alot of the young boys and that brings all of the problems that come along with gangs.

Elvis was always a generous person- I like to think I inherited that from him! I owned a Ford Crown Vic in the nineties, I didn't know they existed in those days! The same year I heard "Return to Sender," my parents bought a brand new 1963 Ford Galaxy station wagon Country Squire edition (license plate #5W6466) a few months later, and about three, four months before the JFK assassination.
