I was a young black child in the 60’s. I loved Elvis I’ve seen EVERY movie he stared in when I was a kid a 100x over. I thought him to be the most handsome man on earth and Artist. My favorite movies in this order: Girl Happy, Girls Girls Girls, Jailhouse Rock, Clambake, G I Blues, Roustabout, Spinout, Speedway, Blue Hawaii, Viva Las Vegas. and It Happened At The World’s Fair and Fun In Acapulco and yes I own all of them on VHS. I never believe he was racist never! What sealed it with me about him his love for God. R.I.P. Elvis ❤️
He showed the world he loved all people of all colors. He was truly a good hearted ,loving person. Knowing that he wasn't racist and had demonstrated so clearly. If you ARE A TRUE ELVIS FAN YOU KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. 😊❤❤❤
iLLNIGMA. rubbish!! “Back then it wasn’t heard of” whats that?...narcissism? There were cameras ‘back then’ so there was the opportunity to show off his kindness, but he chose not to. Seeing those he gifted happy was enough for him.
I discovered recently that Elvis donated to over 30 charities in Memphis. That satellite show he performed for in Hawaii to over 40 countries it made $US75,000 for a cancer drive.
Not a single person that worked for Elvis had a bad thing to say about him. He treated all his staff & his fellow people that performed with him on stage with great respect. That says a lot about the man. Not a single person has come out to say a bad word about him but all good loving memories of him.
It's sad people said this man didn't like black people. But you not going to buy a house for someone you don't like. Also I saw a video of the cook talking about Elvis and it seem he really cared for her. So to all Elvis hater u ain't nothing but a hound dog crying all the time!!! 😂
@NM1Raider I had no idea you were doing this crap on my channel.. You are now blocked.. Wow man you are stupid if you think white people are the same as the were even in the 70's towards other races.. If they are I don't see it in my groups!! Bye!!
I've never, ever heard or thought him to think that way. Anybody that tried to be right; black, Mexican, Chinese, etc. Is alright with Elvis Aron Presley. He seemed to truly enjoy loving to give you anything he either knew or thought u may want or what he felt you may want or need. That is the Elvis Aron Presley I have ALWAYS known.
I worked at a gift shop across from Graceland in 1986 and Mary was in our shop for a week visiting with fans. She was very sweet and still went across the street to cook for Aunt Delta who still lived at Graceland.
I met Ms Mary at Graceland when I would go down to see Elvis. She was a sweet, kind and lovely lady. She had the prettiest smile. She really loved Elvis and she called him Mr. Elvis and he called her Mawee. She really had a lot of funny stories to tell about him. She never said a bad word against him. She and I always remained good friends. I wanted her to meet my son (Kenny Presley) so he and I went down there one week-end and actually stayed with her. She was an excellent cook. Before she died her request was that Kenny sing at her funeral. He told her if that was what she wanted he would be honored to do it. Kenny sang at her husband's funeral who preceded her in death. She was a wonderful lady with a big heart and if she told you something you could count on it being the truth. Kenny and I both loved her so much.
I looked up Barbra Rushing the person who left this comment. I wanted to know who she was and how she person knew Elvis or Ms. Jenkins but Barbara passed December 1, 2020 she claims the Kenny Presley is Elvis son. 🤷♀️
Elvis step brother said that Elvis didn't wanted to be call the King he said that Elvis said that there's only 1 king & that is JESUS CHRIST IS THE KING that tell me that Elvis was a humble man & love JESUS CHRIST
@Lowie Patat What the hell r u sayin? He gave them 100 dollar bills for bringing him his tray, on top of their salary. His housekeepers loved working for him. Some people enjoy housekeeping and working as a Chauffer, maid or butler. There is nothing wrong with that kind of work.
@Lowie Patat Did Michael Jackson treat his employees the same? Does Beyonce? How about Taylor Swift, Amy Winehouse, Celine Dion, Dr. Dre, Snoop, What about the rest of the singers/entertainers? Hell no. And I bet you idolize at least one listed above.
@@annp.whitaker4091 Well, I'd have loved it but I'm also thinking realistic. It couldn't have always been the best job ever. I'm sure it was probably fantastic in the younger years!
@@bigrig0625 Actually you have a point there. I would've probably left that job in the later years because having to watch Elvis's health decline and not be able to do or say anything about it would have been heartbreaking, especially towards the end when he was being taken, out of it, with severe physical issues and exhausted, into city after city, then dropped onto stage after stage like a puppet so that others could line their pockets. I think I might have seriously injured someone! Why did no-one take charge? Where were those people whe supposedly loved and cared for him? Oh - hang on a minute - they were there, around him most of the time. Bunch of cowards the lot of 'em. OMG where the heck did all that come from?! Been watching the movie and it always winds me up! Apologies. 🙄
@@annp.whitaker4091 I believe this to be the 100% honest truth: They either did try to save him or just knew to shut up! Elvis seemed to be very controlling with everyone. You can't help someone who will absolutely delete you from their life if you say what he doesn't want to hear. Elvis said it himself many times to his crew- "You're either with me or against me"
Elvis was so kind and generous. He wanted to give people gifts and make them happy. He never forgot what it was like to be poor. Mary definitely was like his second mama.
Felt sorry for Elvis think he had a very sad life deep down. He was searching for something that he didn't have in his life to fulfill him but struggled to find it. A very kind, generous soul by all accounts. So sad.
@@briroberts7714 Yes think he had too many hangers on as well that he supported but felt he couldn't dismiss through being too kind hearted and loyal. It must have been a real struggle to keep that pressure up. Read somewhere that he got to the stage where he just wanted to retire to his ranch but the expenditure was so great he couldn't afford that lifestyle and had to push himself to keep bringing in all the income. Very sad that all these people didn't realise what a financial drain they were. Especially as Col Parker pocketed half Elvis' income...that was shocking.
@T P: I think that no other artist has donated more money than Elvis Presley. When Elvis died in 1977, the world first learned that Elvis has regularly donated to 34 charities. One fan once said, "Elvis gave everything to people - his art and all his fortune, he loved making people happy and people happy."
I read that Elvis' father had fears that he'd go broke, for the amount of money he gave away...to charities, along with the cars he bought, the houses he bought, the medical bills he paid off, all for others and often for total strangers.
This is true example of loyalty. She could have made more money if she’d put salacious tidbits in her book. They don’t make them like this anymore. These days people will sell you out all the way out for a little bit of nothing. RIP Ms. Jenkins
I saw Mary Jenkins speaking on a couple of documentaries and watched her make that famous peanut butter sandwich and then made one myself and it was good... Total respect for Mary for not betraying the trust of Elvis considering she was an actual fly on the wall so to speak to all that went on at graceland.... Another great piece of the puzzle... Thanks as always
Noel Fee Wow me too. Because I believe that stars have it so hard finding loyal people while they are living. So it's awesome because she stayed loyal beyond his death...which speaks VOLUMES!
No jelly in those sandwiches, huh? I would've thought so because that Fool's Gold Loaf that Elvis once flew to Denver to enjoy in an airport hangar contained grape jelly. Trivia: Elvis had a well-known liking for peanut butter, and so did the late conservative author and bon vivant William F. Buckley Jr. A couple of decades after Elvis passed away Buckley was given a private tour of Graceland and wrote a book titled "Elvis in the Morning". (I bet Spa Guy already knew that, though!)
@@scottgarner7656 man... Everybody and anybody goes into any bathroom to use it or in his situation or that situation (buying the house or had bought the house), pulls open or slides the mirror, ....and looks! Com 'on.....
@@scottgarner7656 "digging around" friggin rude to comment words together that way about Elvis Aron Presley. Ok,, I'm sure u ment it to b funny, but hey! Alright, If Elvis, was ther, here whatever and u him in same room and u mentioned about "digging"...he'd of laugh'd I reckon 😉
One of the things my mom told me as an early teenager, (because I was madly in love with Elvis lol), was that he was NOT racist. She talked about his giving, his love for Mary and his over all disposition as a white man coming up in a racist society. She never said she loved Elvis, or was a fan, but I could tell she really did like him as a person, even as she talked proudly about his personality and lifestyle. R.I.P. Mom #IREMEMBERMOMMA!!!
Thanks for sharing! I hope a lot of Black people see the film. I am Black, and have had people make comments to me whenever I wear anything that says "Elvis" on it. I always correct them.
I wish I could have met Mary Jenkins before she passed away in 2000. I bet she had some amazing stories and great memories of Elvis. My grandmother raised me growing up. She loved Elvis Presley. My grandmother passed away about a year and 7 months ago. It's heartbreaking it's hard every day but I can always feel her close when I'm watching something about Elvis...
DEB ... I imagine she missed him very much. She seemd like such a sweet lady .. He called her Mar Wee ... the house looked much nicer when he purchased it for her. She was a very loyal employee and friend to Elvis. I think she was like a family member, staying on after his death for his father and grandmother. 💖
What Elvis did for this lady was amazing love. Elvis should of put is career on line March with Dr King during Civil rights oppression in deep South. I never heard him spoke up against Governor Wallace of Alabama and rest of those oppressist hick States back in 50's,60's. Helping is domestic helper was very humble of him. He had really love this lady like mother.
I have read the stories where Elvis really liked this lady and that she was so kind to him. It's nice that he did something like that for her. She deserved it for the kind person she was.
Oh Lord, what a soul he was !......How could Cilla have ever ever have left a heart like that. I knew about Elvis's generosity. I didn't know this story. Thank you so very much.
She left him because of his drug abuse and womanizing. Then when she had an affair he wanted to kill the guy. He could have affairs (one night stands) but she couldn’t.
Watching this twice.. I guess that's why i love Elvis such personalities attract me and inspire me we need more people like him in this world to change the world.
Yo Elvis bought his cook, a black women , a new house I'm so shook. You can feel the genuine love for one another they were like family. My Opinion on Elvis completely changed & I feel so ignorant to believe what Ive been told w/o researching the truth. I got hella respect for Elvis now R.I.P 😘😘
you should see the video where she talks about Elvis at her house. there are pictures of them together everywhere and you can tell she deeply cared for him. so sweet. have a great day!
Elvis did alot for alot of people. Bless his soul. He truly was a good person. Some people that were around him said that everyone always fot paid. No matter what. Even if he didn't have it to pay. Somehow everyone did. Even complete strangers he did good things for. No one like him. That's why he was The King.
They have asked many people over the years to tell juicy stories of Elvis & non of them would. This tells me how much respect they had for him. He treated all the people around him with total respect & love. How many super mega stars have ever done that?
I'm a black woman and I've been a fan of Elvis since I was a child in the 60's, I'm still a fan to the laughter of my kids and grandbabies. He was a gorgeous white boy who sang Elvis style music, the movies were fully entertaining. He died young, but his legacy lives on😊⚜️
There was just something special about him.. I enjoyed the movies too.. You are right his legacy lives on.. If your kids and grands gave him a chance they would be fans too.. By the way the only thing better than Elvis is grand babies!!
Elvis was a genuine soul and humble. Fame didn’t go to his head. I certainly think many people around him took advantage of him. Mrs. Mary was a sweet lady so glad she was there with him bc u can tell she truly cared and loved him. Thank you for the video.God bless you!!🙏🙏❤️
You talk just like Elvis 🕺!!🎶. How sweet it is! Our “doll Elvis “ bought Mary a “dollhouse “! A perfect example of The generous man he was.! “Thank you very much “ for this lovely 😊 story...I’m looking forward to the next ☝️ one!
That was great what Elvis did for Mrs Jenkins. But I knew he help a number of people. I got to get that book if I am able to find it. Thanks again Spa Guy God Bless you.
Mrs. Jenkins had a really loving bond and respect for Elvis. Otherwise, she would not have stayed on his staff for so long. Elvis was a very giving person. It was just his nature, I assume.
Lowie Patat so I guess all the cooks at the restaurants, fast food etc you’re eating at are your slaves? She was paid for her awesome cooking , let alone got a house fully paid and cars! She was a family to him! I hope you find some peace with yourself 🌹
@@justmeok3609 My "toy" is actually a speaker. This is the only one I've ever seen. I bought it at a yard sale. I just thought it looked cool. :) Bought it for a dollar.
I cannot see how anyone could think that Elvis was a racist, the man sang Black music for Gods sake people!! If you know anything at all about a REAL racist they certainly would not be singing the music of a race they despise. If you look at the Memphis Mafia none of them were black, however, most of the Memphis mafia were members of Elvis' family or guys he met in school. In those days, the school days, you did not have white and black kids playing together so it's easy to see why he did not have any school buddies that were black. I also noticed that many of the comments are from people shocked that Elvis bought her a house. There are plenty of stories of Elvis buying homes, cars, trucks, motorcycles and all sorts of things for people. One guy met Elvis in Las Vegas and was admiring the belt Elvis was wearing, a few months later he received a package and it was that belt! Elvis read a story in the local Memphis paper about a young disabled man living in his home taking care of his elderly mother. The man did not have a wheel chair and would literally be crawling around on the floor to do things for his sick and elderly mama. Elvis got the guys together and they went and purchased the man a brand new wheel chair. The story goes that Elvis and the guys went to the home with the new chair and it was Elvis himself who picked the man up off the floor and set him in the wheelchair... THAT shows you what kind of a man Elvis Presley was.
Probably when he said... the only thing black ppl can do for him is shine his shoes, and drive his car. I guess we can add cook his food. Smh He was a racist!!
@@monaecoles1960 that attribution appeared in 1957, in an article by Sepia Magazine. A white owned sensationalist publication geared towards a black readership. You know why you've never heard of this mag? The main point was to stir blacks to get them to buy the magazine, yet offer nothing towards the deeper issues like the civil rights movement. They were playing on the fact that he was from the same town as a racist congressman (forget the name...) that the black community hated. That's it. They offered nothing of the circumstances where Elvis was alleged to have said this... Yet years later it still gets churned even though it has been debunked since the 60s at least. The quote did not appear in white publications that arguably would've advanced his early career in parts of the US. It's a surprise for those that knew Elvis because his music heroes were black and he made the effort to 'go across town' to listen to black artists. There's even a 1956 picture of him talking to black reporter ladies backstage. No one in 1956 would've batted an eyelid if a Southern white boy had refused to be interviewed by blacks yet he gave them access....
It is very sad to me that Ms Mary's home has not been maintained. The two seemed to have had such a special bond. I think it's very pure and beautiful.
Great research awesome video with tidbits revealing what a great loving generous and compassionate man Elvis was. Many celebrities put on a facade for the world but this man was truly a great soul no wonder his music never ceases to inspire me. My Elvis record collection remains one of my most precious possessions.
Elvis was such a generous kind man and lover of all colors of people. His relationship with Mary was special - he considered her trusted family. What a beautiful soul. RIP Elvis and RIP Mary
So Called celebrity of today will Never know the true meaning of loyalty by their "staff" such as this fine, genuine lady. They just Never will. 🖤 Great insight with content, thank you!
Wow! What a lovely sweet awesome thing to do for someone with such great huge LOVE! Thank you Elvis for being so kind to this lady! What a cool unique brick home! Elvis has great taste.
Christina what a great story about Mary. She was such a loyal friend and employee to Elvis. He was very special and so very generous .💕 Thankyou Spa guy
My dad loved the old station wagon's. Thank you for the memory, as alway's I enjoyed the video. I'm happy Elvis had Mary as a cook and a confidant. Mary loved Elvis and he loved her, true love between 2 good friend's. They were both blessed to have one another.
What I like about Elvis 🕺 the love and respect fir his fans In his kitchen in Graceland there is a silver cup, sent from UK from his fan I was really surprised
The other ladies that you mentioned at the beginning of video that went along with them all house hunting (you mentioned unsure of who they were), their names were Myrtle & Portia Fischer. Myrtle was a Realtor in the area and was acquainted with Elvis from helping him purchase other homes for people. And yes for anyone wondering, (more evidence to counter the myth Elvis didn't care about black folks) they were also Black American, and they spoke very affectionately about Elvis. Just an fyi extra info. Enjoy the videos. Keep up the great work
As a stone mason, and someone who has been to Graceland, I can not lie, the stonework at Graceland and this house is Hideous. Elvis a Great Singer (The Best In The World) was not too concerned with architecture😅, I saw some 'plywood patch work' done on Graceland as well. ... he was a true country boy, God Bless him.
Elvis had Native American Ancestry on his mother’s side. One of his first girlfriends before he became famous was black, he dated black women and had a relationship with one of his backing singers. He loved Soul Food but had to cut back because of ulcers and digestive problems and was put on a strict no spicy food diet, of course he didn’t stick to it. The guy who slandered Elvis as a racist had never even met him, Elvis had never been to the location where the conversation was said to have taken place. I would stake my life and my kid’s life when I say “ELVIS PRESLEY HAS NEVER BEEN A RACIST” It hurt me deeply when I was old enough to understand what had been said about him and it still cuts me deeply because it’s a FLAT OUT LIE but at least over the years people have learned the truth. Elvis refused to play to segregated audiences. His only vices in life were food and women, he never claimed to be a Saint, he never claimed to be perfect because only Jesus Christ was and is perfect. I’ve loved him since aged 5 and have all his songs on vinyls which were handed down to me and are insured. I transferred all his songs to my Itunes Library. I will love him until I take my last breath ❤️
Elvis dud not just have the House purchased for her. He actually chose it herself, took her there himself , and told her , "this is yours IF YOU LIKE IT"... That is RESPECT. Only a Man with great self respect and nobility of character can have that kind of Humbleness.... .... Love you my King...
Elvis was a very giving person and that shows you what kind of heart he had. Such a loving person. Yes, he had a temper, but..don't we all? I know I do. Great video, Spa Guy...Thanks for sharing!
