Thanks so much for doing my request, Teez. This song was written by country artist Marty Robbins and a hit for Frankie Laine back in 1969. Frankie's recording was good, Elvis was better. Hope you enjoyed it and hope everyone else does, too.

Great Reaction. Elvis had a phenomenal & unique voice, & a wide vocal range, as well as a killer vibrato. The fact that he’s been gone now for 47 years, but fans from as far back as when he first began in the mid-1950s, are still devoted fans. I’ve been a big fan for almost sixty years, & my wife for the same length of time. I can’t think of another solo artist that I could say that about …. Not to mention the huge outpouring of grief worldwide when he passed in 1977, & the millions of fans who still visit his home at Graceland in Memphis. He was a megastar. He still is. I’ve just joined your channel for your Elvis Reactions.

No matter how many times I've seen/heard this song, it still gets me moved to tears and goosies. He did sing what he knew and lived. Once he had more control of song choices, he picked those that meant something and that an adult audience could relate to. This song in the verse about his woman had to have been touchy for him to sing as he and Priscilla had recently split. He was the greatest. So glad you younger people are finding it out!!! 👍👍 You've got another subscriber! ✌️💕😊

I find it fascinating that reactors new to Elvis have two things on common. They think every song he sings is about him. That's because he had so much sincere empathy and compassion for others that it came through in his interpretation of everything he sang. And they feel like they're in church. When asked early on in his career what his favorite type of music was he said the colored spiritual. He was heavily influenced as a child by gospel music and it was engrained in his soul. I hope you'll react to "How Great Thou Art".

Elvis was very spiritually inclined. He's "been to church." He loved to hear and sing gospel music. The mountain represents the human journey travelling/travailing up from matter to spirituality, to the mountain apex, to full spiritual consciousness of enlightenment, to "God". We are on an evolutionary journey. We are sparks of the Divine, coming from Spirit and going back to Spirit. Dr. Martin Luther talked about having been "to the mountain" in one of his famous speeches. Elvis was interested in esoteric spirituality and read much of this, including, Theosophy from Helena Blavatsky and the Ageless Wisdom Teachings from Alice Bailey. Both women delivered the wisdom from Spiritual Masters. One of his favorite books was, "The Initiation Of The World", by Vera Stanley Alder who was also a believer in Theosophy/Wisdom Teachings. In some of Elvis' songs these teachings of love and goodwill shine through. He was a disciple on the Path. According to the Masters of Wisdom, MUSIC is the highest expression of the arts. Love, Light and Goodwill to all.
