I can so relate. I used to get the winter blues and cabin fever. But now that I've slowed down and given my life over to Christ, I embrace the gift of this quiet season and all the warmth and cozy it brings. 🔥

A simple life is what I dreamed of my entire working life. We now have it. We spent 15 years building a rural homestead 3 hours from home after the ‘08 crash. Got ducks in a row and left suburbia. Best thing we ever did.

I LOVE your two gorgeous dogs. I love being in my home, and being thankful for all I have. I have become a recluse, and only go out of my rural home to walk my dog, or take rubbish to the end of the lane. I am happy doing that, and feel so much safer staying in my little world. xxx

The dark quiet of winter is far more appealing to me in my later years. This has been a very hard year health wise; I lost my sister who lived with me, my husband had a difficult surgery resulting in a stroke and loss of half his vision, and I was unwell too. But through it all our Lord was with us, and our relationship with him and our marriage deepened and enriched. This winter will be quiet and lovely and lit by His light. Come Lord Jesus.

Thankyou Lea for another lovely vlog. I think covid and the increasingly unsettled world has show a lot of people how much of our lives were fake, how we need to be grateful for so many small genuine things and return to authentic simple living.

I also live with my hubby and dogs on a mountain. I haven’t yet got it all together yet but with the grace of God I will learn enough to help make things easier. This time of year is both glorious and heartbreaking. I too suffered the loss of my brother and many others. Today is my birthday and I’m going to treat myself to a special night of pampering. Thanks as always for your video. I have been subscribed for at least 2 years. I ask for your prayers as I just feel alone and overwhelmed. My son has been fighting addiction and right now he is in jail and looks like he will be for some time. I love the Lord with all I have and study God's Word everyday. I know that He is in control and that if my son is one of His elect, my son has his home in heaven. I do find peace in that truth. God is sovereign and in my deepest heart, I know I am never truly alone. I also know that God hears and answers prayers and I would appreciate prayers for my son and for me. Slow living is wonderful, Im 61 years old and have had a few small strokes,my health has slowed Me down and I now embrace My new situation, My Faith is Strong and I love My life today.😊

I love winter , every aspect of it . I love fall and slowly gliding into the short days . Spring is soft and fresh . Summer is hard , the light is invasive, the heat can really push you down … but the water gives refreshing and coolness . 🤗

Wonderful, helpful video. Very similar to the life that Masae and I have at our Utah cabin over Palisade Lake. 2 malamute dogs we dogsled in the winter, 11 cats, a mountain full of wildlife who are our neighbors and friends, big garden with fresh food year-round, and daily hikes and runs in the mountains. The "real life." Grateful and fortunate. We now try to rescue my Afghan interpreters/military battle buddies, and as we bring them out we bring them here and they are getting a taste of that life as well.

thank you and your husband, the dogs and chickens for brightening up my days throughout this year that is passing.. some of those days had been in difficult times and just watching your videos helps bring me back to focus and on the LORD.. some months I like to save the videos to watch and I can watch a few in a row... I loved watching you and your husband have an embrace, its not forced for the video, its real love you both share and it shows in the videos... my daughter, she isnt with the LORD but she has seen miracles, her mother healing from damage of witchcraft and even tho she said don't talk religion, she tends to ask me questions which I will take any door into her heart to share his love.. one time she asked me, MUM, if they had to sacrifice animals for their sins, then why would they sin? ( we are weak and need his strength) and I was amazed when I was talking to her about creation, when Yahweh separated the light from the darkness, I asked her what she thought this meant? and she replied, thats easy, god separated Lucifer from the world, he's the darkness.. I think because she has seen miracles she knows in her heart he's real.. if someone is having issues or someone is sick, im the first person she comes too to pray for these people. its like a gift of joy hearing her ask me this.. she knows im a prayer warrior too. but id say to her, it has to be "let his will be done in whom we trust" I said to her its like praying for someone that has lung issues, I can pray for then but its their choice if they continue to smoke.. why would god heal them for them to continue with what causes their issue.. and seeing my son stop drinking was answering my constant prayer, he no longer consumes alcohol... when my daughter heard this, she looked at me and smiled, then later, she said to me alone, you prayed for this didnt you? I just smiled and hugged her.. no more words were needed.. so please keep praying for others because its real.. I think my prayers changed when I now place my armour on in Ephesians 6;10-18.. its not automatic, we need to pray for this and I believe it also helps protect our prayers... reading Daniel 10 showed me this... his prayer was held up and there was a fight in heaven for 21 days by the spiritual evils... I dont know why im sharing this but I do know more people need to understand prayer is your personal relationship in silence.. enjoy your winter and im enjoying our summer.. bless you all and show compassion, forgive and rejoice... no one is promised to no-one so enjoy the moments, stay conscious im mind.. ✨🥀🙏

Blessed feast of Christmas! I don't know why, but I feel compelled to leave you a comment. I first saw your videos, probably 6 years ago. My husband and I came from non-denominational backgrounds and found ourselves led into the messianic world for 7 years. Ultimately, God brought us out of that and to Orthodox Christianity, and honestly, it was like the truth searching, the digging was towards this end. Glory to God. The answer to the feasts, the scriptures, the tradition. The root of the ancient church and the faith of the Apostles. It might be something you'd be interested looking in to and even if it is not, be blessed and have a very Happy New Year! By the way, the ancient church knew when Christ was born because they knew when he was conceived. The Church celebrates the feast of the Annunciation March 25, 9 months before Christmas. Totally agree & understand about fake things- food- people- businesses of life that people run in circles not realizing what truly matters in life but yet they get coughs up in the world- I got off that wheel 20 years ago & moved out of the noise of the city to the woods- I can say I’m a lot calmer peaceful & have my mind together than before & I owe it all to Jesus bc HE is what brought me near to HIM- now I have a personal relationship with the Lord to see things & the world in a different perspective

I love that book too, the whole series is wonderful. It makes you feel grounded I think the word would be and it fills you with such good feelings, which is an important thing, to fill our minds with good things. The Long Winter is a tough book to read when you consider that they were starving and Carrie never truly recovered. I often wonder what that meant. Malnutrition but what did it permanently do to her? Anyways, they're all good books. I would love them in hard cover
