Embracing Natural Hair: 7-Year Journey from Wigs and Weaves 

You approached this with such compassion. 🥰 I’m Generation X. When I was was young, my mom hot combed my hair over the stove. Then in 4th or 5th grade I got a Jheri curl. Then in 7th grade I got a relaxer, and continued to till I was 35 years old. No matter the method, the psychological message was the same…my natural kinks were not to be seen. I’ve been natural for 10 years and I’ve never worn a wig, or any attachments of any kind…just me and my kinks. What a journey it is! A lot of generational curses and deep wounds regarding how a woman views her hair and beauty will have to get dealt with when us older ladies go natural. My hair is longer and thicker than it’s ever been! I chose to agree with God, when He formed me in my mother’s womb, He saw it as good. I hope you continue to inspire other women to lay down the wigs, to stop covering up what God gave them, no matter what others may think about it. Great topic! 💕🌺

I am on day 120 of wearing my natural hair. I stopped any type of added hair. The first month was very challenging but now I am feeling more and more comfortable. Congratulations to you 🎉. 8 years is amazing. I hope to get to your level of confidence also. Thanks for uploading.

I am transitioning from wig to natural hair, i wore wigs for 8 years bc i got tired of doing my hair. Now i have lost most of my hair. I thought my hair would grow long. But now i had to cut alot of hair off, to star all over. I am devastated bc i had a full head of hair and now barely any. Just hope i can grow it back. Alot of the old school products dont work anymore,bc they have been changed.😢😢
