So happy to see that you are now doing video tutorials. Makes it so much easier to use designs when one can see exactly how to do it.

Thanks so much for the videos. I like to leave a little of soluble stabilize ron the design for a stiffer result and have used starch to stiffen. Experiment using 2 layers of stabilizer to the result you want. I like the idea of slipping a snowflake into a card and I bet it would make a wonderful gift tag or decoration. Snowflakes are great for winter birthdays, so don't just think Christmas.

Hi Deb! I finally got to meet you in person!....sorta! Thanks for this tutorial. I can't WAIT to try them. Guess I better order the stabilizer bc I've never seen it here in San Antonio. Thanks for all your help the past couple years. I love my new hobby!

Thank you so much for these videos! So professionally done and easy to listen to and follow. I never got to take classes with the purchase of my embroidery machine because I moved far away from the dealer I bought it from so its been hard learning how to self teach myself with the few books out there. This is so helpful!

I did not know I COULD USE 40 Wt poly/rayon. I'm heading to Embroidery Library to buy patterns :)

+Lisamarie Livingstone That's great! We provide color change sheets for every design on the site, and that sheet lists the thread weight used in the design. Most often you'll see that 40 weight rayon is listed, but when working with freestanding lace designs, other weights can be used also. Enjoy!

I have found that using two layers of the water soluble stabilizer insures a good result.

Gene Black If it's working for you, then keep on doing that! I find that using a sharp sewing needle is foolproof.

Hey Deb, Thank you for all of the educational videos. All of your designs and videos are the best. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us I do have a quick question. What is the difference between rayon thread vs polyester thread. Especially for FSL? I thank you for your time 😊
@EmbroideryLibraryEL
@EmbroideryLibraryEL 7 лет назад
Hello! We stitch with rayon thread because it has a nicer sheen, and has provided better results for us. Mainly it is a personal preference. Thanks!

if using same thread as top, don't you have to adjust bobbin tension as there usually 60 or 90 weight?
@EmbroideryLibraryEL
@EmbroideryLibraryEL 5 месяцев назад
This would vary based on the machine that you use. Each machine requires slightly different settings for bobbin and top needle tension. We have other great videos on tension that can be found here: www.youtube.com/@EmbroideryLibraryEL/search?query=tension

I have been unable to do freestanding lace on my Baby Lock Ellageo' . I have used the 75/11 needles, 40 wt. rayon thread and Sulky Ultra Solvy water soluble stabilizer and it still jams up my machine. Any suggestions? By the way, I love the Embroiderylibrary.com website. Always shop there for my designs and embroidery ideas. Never been disappointed.
@EmbroideryLibraryEL
@EmbroideryLibraryEL 8 лет назад
+Jennifer Brummitt Hi Jennifer! Try Vilene, a fibrous water-soluble stabilizer. Make sure you're using a sharp sewing needle, not an embroidery needle. And, check your machine's thread tension. If it's off a little bit, that can lead to jamming. I'm so glad that you like our website! Just a note about that - it's www.emblibrary.com. If you have other questions about embroidering lace, send them along with your order number to our customer service team: stitch@emblibrary.com. Thanks!

Hello, please could you write me what is that the background material? On which vyšije the applique and then dissolve in the water. I don't speak the language so I can't translate it in the video. I tried a plastic foil of the soluble, but after washing, embroidery a terrible lost shape and didn't go back. Or it can be influenced?Thank you for the write-off of Petra

Hello! We used water-soluble stabilizer (brand examples are Vilene or Sulky Ultra Solvy). Thanks!

what tempeature is your water supposed to be
@EmbroideryLibraryEL
@EmbroideryLibraryEL 8 лет назад
+Melissa Hollis It depends on the stabilizer. Generally I use water hot from the tap for Vilene and Sulky Ultra Solvy, but your stabilizer's packaging should have the official instructions.

why do you press the freestanding lace?
@EmbroideryLibraryEL
@EmbroideryLibraryEL 9 лет назад
ginger0174 When the freestanding lace is soaking, it tends to curl. It can remain curled when air-drying, too. Pressing will flatten it out for display and use.
