Thanks for this video. I think I will do this for my grand children's Christmas ornaments this year. I will try. I have my great grand twins due Dec 2nd so I now I have double the projects for them. LOL It will be a joy to do this.
Hi Anna. Great tutorial. I am also stitching in our RV this week. We are in Ocean City at Ocean Mist RV Resort. I have tried fabric coloring using different techniques with various results. I like the method of mixing embroidery with crayon dyeing. Will be trying it!
is it foggy? it was so foggy when we were there...don't miss Gig Harbor or La Conner...the museum in La Conner has a absolutely beautiful Japanese applique exhibit. I think this method has real potential :) have fun!
love that!!! Although class are fun for the social aspect and you do learn so much...it can get expensive and passing on ones knowledge allows more of us to enjoy!
How to find your continued work on the bell. I’d like to see how your did the stitch and finished the bell. Also, what is that which is holing your needle ? I’m newer to embroidery and wonder if I need whatever that is. Lol
I gifted that piece so no longer have it to show❤️ I am guessing that I am using an embroidery hoop… there is a huge variety and I have several different kinds to fit my needs❤️
Great tutorial on the coloring effects,,,but I'm wondering which Crayola crayons you're using, fabric crayons ? washable crayons? or the regular school crayons? maybe I missed that info,,,ha ha, I'll have to watch again 😄
Regular Crayola crayons. Because you use so much more white than other colors, Hallmark was selling single white crayons last year. Nice to have several extras.
from what I learned at Crabapple Hill it is permanent. As for laundering...most of these are wall hangings and will never be laundered but I suppose if you used the technique on a quilt that will be laundered I would try is on a test piece with mild soap and delicate cycle :) let me know!

I followed your video and then created a colored embroidery from a free coloring page. Can’t figure out how to upload a photo of it for you. Perhaps G could help?
Why not fuse the pellon to the back of the fabric before coloring so that the fabric won't move while coloring? It helps stabilize the fabric to make it easier to do the coloring.
this is a good idea...but what I have noticed is that the tiny bumpy service of the Pellon does show through when coloring. I like it because it looks a little textured.

I think you can get them at office supplies, some quilt shops and for sure mail order from Crabapple Hill Studios...the important thing is to be sure it is the ultra fine :)
