A sparkling three stone custom ring we just finished up. Designed in house using CAD so that this 2.01 carat emerald cut, natural F color, VS1 clarity diamond center stone would fit perfectly into the ring. Framed to each side of the center stone is a pair of trapezoid cut, colorless, VS clarity, natural diamonds, each weighing .48 & .49 carats for a total ring diamond weight of 2.98 carats.
A European ring shank (squarish bottom) with a heavier counter balanced bottom reduces rolling on the finger. The two side diamonds are each secured in a bar setting to showcase their trapezoid shape. The center emerald cut diamond is secured in a four, single claw prongs shaped to complement the cutting direction of the center diamond.
The ring is cast in a newly developed 95% platinum "hard" alloy and densified using hot isostatic pressing (HIP) helping to eliminate microscopic voids (porosity) within the casting. The combination of this platinum alloy with HIP produces a superior platinum alloy that is 64% harder (vs. Plat/iridium) than other platinum alloys currently used in commercial jewelry. This increased platium hardness helps the ring maintain a polish longer, improves durability and reduces wear, thus enhancing the longevity of the jewelry.
