Judith is a baby. Completely unaware of the reality of what's going on and even if she was aware she would have never experienced the world before the walkers. Beth believed in them. She had hope they would all make it, they could save the world. That the world is worth saving and making the effort to live and not just survive. That's a hope the other's lack. She was hope. In just a few days of being alone with her Daryl's attitude changed, he was letting himself believe just a little bit in her hope. Judith doesn't do that. That's why Beth's death was so saddening. Like I said, she was hope. With her death, hope is dead.
I hate how people think Beth was a useless character. Who was the one who took care of Judith 99% of the time, even during hard times (Rick when Lori died, when an illness took place during the prison). Who was the one who sang just to give a little bit of hope to people? Etc? And even with this, she still could've developed more as a character. It's sad.
+Jordan Bowen Beth was becoming strong. She was weak like Carol, and then they both became strong. But Beth died. And Emily's singing is the best! So don't dis my senpai!
If Emily Kinney cries, the whole world who loves TWD cries with her. They underestimated her, she, Beth Greene was potentially a great character on the show with a lot of chemistry with Daryl AND a symbol of hope for every suicidal survivor... Today I still miss her so much.
I'm still not over Beth dying! She brought an innocence to the harsh world they live in. She was never negative. Even when her character was cold hearted, like when her boyfriend died and she didn't seem to care that much, she never said anything negative. She said she was glad she got to know him. It wasn't much but it was something positive in a horrible situation. She kept her innocence in a world of death.
Beth was the only nurturer in a group of killers and survivalists. Even when she was a very minor character I was drawn to her, and she quickly became my favorite after the prison arc ended. Strong, badass women like Michonne and Maggie are obviously needed in a show like this, but to me Beth was compelling because she showed what it was to be a strong woman without having to be cold blooded or great with weapons. Her strength was her compassion and her faith in people, and it rubbed off on the others in the group, most notably Daryl. No death on the show thus far has torn me as much as this one did.
I feel like people like to say she’s a bad character because she’s not a badass, but most people wouldn’t be during a zombie apocalypse. Beth’s arc is the one I felt I could most closely relate to, so seeing her get killed off made me lose a big connection with the show.
Still after 7 years I can’t get over Beth’s death. She was the most innocent most hartwarming character. I would always feel sorry for her cause she looked so innocent and tiny 🥺 I just wanted to protect her
When she was explaining about how difficult it was shooting the episode and she was looking down all I felt was instant sadness. I love Emily and her character Beth.
If Beth wasn't dead, Magguie would be happier even tho Glenn Is dead, Daryl, would be happier Too algo he would be better, as character, CONCLUSION: BETH DIDNT HAD TO DIE
Okay so, the directors never wanted to kill off Glenn. They tried to find ways to not kill him, in the end, they said they couldn't save him because too many storylines depended on it. Maggie's and Daryl's in specific. If Beth didn't die and Negan instead killed her (keeping Glenn alive.) Daryl would be terribly sad, still blame himself for it (it'd be an even bigger impact too.) Maggie's would have less of an impact but at the core, it'd be the same.
The character deserved a better end. Especially when you know what happens to Noah, for whom she pointlessly threw her life away. Emmy Kinney is a national treasure. I love her whole everything and her music.
Of all the movies, TV shows and whatnot I've seen in my 51 years, Beth's death hit me the hardest. Seeing this interview (years after watching the episode) I now see that Emily's soul is in Beth. There's a sweetness, sincerity, and innocence she projects. I mean, I frickin' balled when she died. I'm a grown ass man sobbing at a fictional character. Daryl carrying her out, Maggie collapsing, the music (Coda), just absolutely heart wrenching perfection. Bravo to you, Emily. We all cried with you.
She is do adorable, that "oh no" was heartbreaking. Wasn't a big fan of her character in the beginning, but @ the time of her death she was one of my favorites. Her arc from being weak & worthless to who she turned into was brilliant. R.I.P Beth 🌻
Killing Beth was stupid. They should've killed Tara, that weak ass priest or even Rositta, but not Beth. I would've liked to have seen her hang out with Noah & they both lived.
+Adam Pearson I totally agree with you about Judith. They have to either kill her or kill off Maggie. I can't see the writers taking us on a journey with another post-apocoloptic pregnant woman since we went through that with Lori. Not to mention I think it's stupid they have Judith covered with the "walker poncho" while Sam is whining as they maneuver through a herd of walkers. WTF????????????
Judith is just there. I think Negan should kill her despite the darkness of that. That, or she accidentally goes missing while someone was meant to be babysitting her and she is found as a walker baby
sda1225 Yes, let's kill characters that were just introduced and then complain about those deaths being very pointless. was sad about Beth's death. But it's important for Maggie's development and besides, people with hope and/or happiness typically die.
Awww, she is a real sweetheart. I adored her character and that had a lot to do with her singing. Her voice had so much hope & tenderness, in times of great difficulty. She will always be a vital part of TWD. I am very fond of the earlier years of this show. I still can not believe they killed Glenn.
Watching this in 2020 KNOWING that this was the beginning of the end for the popularity of TWD. Glen and Beth were too much too quickly, really hurt the show imho.
That's why I love this show so much, the actors and actresses put so much emotional depth into their characters. It really is hard to see anyone die on a tv show when you've grown that kind of emotional attachment. I've been devastated by each and every death on the walking dead, it's a sad day when one of my beloved characters gets knocked off.
Haven't watched since about 5 episodes after Beth died. The show lost the innocence that grounded it and she had the best arc on the show from meek background to a hero - people love an underdog and it was a blast watching her evolve.
3:14 Robert Kirkman "First of all I've changed my mind. You're coming back." Now it appears Robert said it in jest, but he was actually telling the truth. Beth _did_ come back. Kinda. Sorta. He did bring Beth back. And Lizzie. And Mika. And Bob. And the Governor. For one episode anyway.
OMG I started crying when she broke. I love her character so much and I love her too and seeing her that this was so hard for her too, I can't... I just want to hug her. She will always be one of my favorite characters, her death broke me. 😭😩 I will never get over this, her character still had so much potential. Beth you will always be in my heart.
oh and when kirkman said I changed my mind"... My reaction was "screw you" 😒😒 I'm so mad guys, I'm catching up with the show so I watched this episode like 4 days ago and I still not ok, I'm so sad.
I named an acoustic guitar that I still have and play “Beth” after ur character died, in her memory :( I wish they never killed her off, her connection with Daryl and her amazing arch made her such an interesting character. RIP Beth Greene and all the others (I stopped watching TWD like after the next 2-3 seasons came out bc the show just kept going downhill...
She literally is almost crying because she’s been on set for like a while now ik it’s not like too long but it was a good 4 seasons she as there and aww she’s way too precious I cantt she actually became so close to the cast🥺
One of the hardest episodes to watch.. absolutely loved seeing Emily on the show, I remember when she was singing “Be good” when her and Norman Reedus were inside the house with the piano I rewinded it 3 or 4 times.. then downloaded the youtube snippet on my phone so I could listen to it at school😩😩 She was my favourite female character, and in my top 5 favourite characters in the whole show, I was devastated when I saw the end of the episode.. I remember making a facebook post about it, always wish “Beth” would have been apart of the show for longer! Curious to know if she would’ve turned out like carol did in the later seasons.
I hate how people say beth is weak stop it right now! beth was a strong girl she was brave and gave people hope. she tries her best on everything she does and she has her hope she took care of Judith 99% of the time when Lori and rick couldn't, beth is a strong women and she can accomplish anything but I just get tired at how people say Beth's weak or Beth's more useless the Judith cut it out! Emily could feel bad if she read that stuff! treat people the way you want to be treated so I bet you wouldn't want somebody to call you weak or useless st stop that crap right now!!! I
Still think she was one of the best characters in the show and a really excellent last episode (and for me, the best episode of the show with her singing episode with Darryl)
Man:( Those tears are killing me:( Sometimes I am so mad at the writers for killing her so early... WHY?? Just why?? But she is always there for me...Alive... She is our sweet Beth. #LoveYou💘💘💘
I'm glad they gave you a heads up, that shows they really appreciate you! I'm sad you left. They were really starting to develop your character, and I was really enjoying it! Hope to see you in twd in some way shape or form! Loved your music on the show!
I love you Emily. Haven't listened to your music music but I loved your character. Your characters death broke me for anything that will happen in any kind of show. Nothing will surprise anymore because you have resognatated with me so much.
If her character was still alive, i could imagine her huge role in the Whisperers, imgine her rescuing Magna's group, maybe in keeping alexandria safe too. Ugh many lost opportunities.
+aine71 Yeah 14.6 million viewers is not a lot of people, at all. The ship is sinking, and fast. Before you know it it will be down to like 13 million, that's not even enough people to fit in my living room.
Beth didn't deserve to die, not the way she did in season 5. I get it, it was all about proving that Beth could do more than just being a burden as Dawn and the TWD viewers saw her. It feels more like her death was a bad attempt at a tearjerk rather than a contribution to Maggie's growth as the "Widow". Wasted potential that's how i saw it.
Same it is very upsetting and her death was so forced and very stupid and was not helping the plot When whe finally became a useful character and her arc with Daryl was one of s4 best parts imo to the show in season 4 they just decided to kill her in season 5?! Worst decision imo
beth as a character and as a real life actress did such an amazing job on the walking dead i haven't cried that much then when i cried at the hospital where my mom passed away watching beth on the twd it was an honor watching her she was not a bad character at all i'd loved watching her and maggie and herschel got rest scott wilson's life just seeing them act together it was a true blessing watching them work off each other and when beth died i was very sad maggie keeps losing people left and right her father beth glenn glenn's death was supoer emotional for me because i think everyone fell in love with glenn and maggie and to kill her husband off before giving birth it was the wrong thing to do thank you emily for bringing sunshine to the show you will be missed dearly
