Yeah Bro you got what the song was about. It was a general "taking the meek" at boy band group songs of the era. Eminem had already fired shots to boy band and so when the media tried to say D12 was like one they came out with this comic response to the media
The boy band bit was a rip on Nsync and the bit with Bizarre was meant to be a Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake rip from the awards where lets say JJ has a wardrobe malfunction 😂
Love that ending, classic Eminem and D12 taking the piss out of themselves. You have to respect self deprecation as one of the safest and funniest forms of modern comedy, it doesn't harm anyone else so unless you are going to sue yourself for defamation..

I live in Detroit and saw them perform this live. It was great seeing the boy band line and dance. In between the chorus lines the entire crowd would yell “F Marshall”.
Em wasn't dissing the band. At the time nobody knew who D12 was in mainstream so he was using his popularity to promote D12. It worked because I became a fan.

We are still waiting for Marshall to drop “My Salsa”. Anytime he does an Ask me anything or takes fan questions, someone always asks when he is going to release it. It’s so weird but low key fire. Anytime I make salsa I can’t help but sing that hook. It’s almost as bad as “Remember but Me”, whenever I log in to a website and tick the box remember me, I have to do the super aggressive hook.

I love how this whole thing was basically a dig at the boy bands of the day. One thing em and the boys were never afraid of was satire. Gotta respect it!
Great reaction! I’m an ‘older’ hip hop fan - having grown up in the late 80’s and remember when Em first dropped Infinite/SSLP/MMLP etc - and they were epic! But these kind of tracks always made me laugh! The hard hitting stuff was mind blowing at the time, but these tracks gave some light relief - while still showing how creative he is! I feel like Em lost a huge part of himself and his sense of humour when he lost Proof, understandably. He was never quite as care free again! I know he was drinking and abusing drugs at the time too, but you used to be able to see the humour so clearly - I feel like it’s a rarity now! Although seems to be back in writing if Side B is anything to go by, it was just fun! There are a couple of interviews I love where Em is genuinely having fun though, the best one is with Royce for Bad meets Evil - probs 7 or 8 years old now, if anyone’s not seen this you need to watch it! ‘Someone’ gave Em and Royce control of a live stream and the results are hilarious! My son says it’s like me trying to use social media! Em says, there would be no music making if he was allowed to sit around on his iPad all day! (And that’s after he tries to pretend he’s been kidnapped and holds up ‘help me’ signs to the camera!) There’s also a short-ish video online - looks like it’s just recorded on a phone, where Em is with Mr Porter and Royce and they’re talking about what words should not be rapped any more! Stuff like ‘using skills to pay the bills’ ‘Bodies like John Gotti’ Etc etc
Not to mention the Latin single. His reactions cracked me up. Life is about asking the right questions and "why?" would ruin the jokes here. Remember the boy bands, the people that called D12 Eminem's band and go with it! Loved this reaction video. 😂
I always felt like Bizzarre didn’t say “The lead singer of my band” in his version of the chorus because he wasn’t actually the lead singer and that’s why the other dudes were laughing.
I saw them preform live. After this song they did how come. And after em walks up to bizarre and was like Em- bizarre, for a minute and 45 seconds, how did it feel to be the lead singer of the band? Bizarre- motherfucker, I'm still the lead singer of the band!
@@rondutertre3367 I think there was at least four top shelf rappers in D12 and I haven't even heard most of the early Bugz tapes, etc.... I've also seen them live twice, they were great! At least one of the guys was there every time I've seen Em as well.
@@scottallencarr bugz was great. After he passed away, Em took his spot. But D12 was Proofs group. That's the reason the song stepping Stones pissed me off. Marshall had no right to cancel D12. I don't think DeShaun would have liked that... I'm sure he would have wanted the group to continue
@@rondutertre3367 wtf are you on about? D12 died with Proof and everyone knew the minute they heard Proof died. A song about the situation in 2018 in no way 'canceled' D12.
This track was of course all in good fun, I think all of them were quite appreciative of the fact that their careers were pretty much carried by the "lead singer of the band". Still, Eminem does seem to be quite sad about the influence of Proof's death on the group dynamic, and guilty about how things changed and eventually ended. Stepping Stone would be a neat track to check out, that one describes Eminem's feelings looking back on D12.
Congratulations for picking that reference to Timberlake/Jackson's wardrobe malfunction. That seems somehow to have popularized youtube a lot back then as well, so a milestone in TV to VoD/Digital Midia transition.
Actually that was Eminem making fun of Kelis. She had a song called My milkshake where the hook went " My milkshake brings all the boys in the yard" And Em made a parody with " My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance"
When you mentioned that Ja Rule part, I chuckled. This song came out in the midst of the beef with Ja Rule, so I don't doubt for a second he was taking a shot with that. The green outfit is a double shot at Janet and Lil Kim when the latter had one of her tits out at the '99 VMAs, and Janet being exposed at the Super Bowl. That's How People Get Fucked Up, Bitch and 40oz from D12 are good ones.

The song is satire aimed at people who looked at D12 as a group with Em as the lead instead of viewing them the same way WuTang is regarded. That why Proofs line mentioned 90/10%, it wasnt about money is was about recognition from the public. If you havent already, pleas react to D12 - Shit On You. It's one of my favorites
