Em came from living in a trailer with a drunk mom and no dad to being the greatest rapper of all time. He deserves everything he's got. Not a lot of artists nowadays can't say that.
Every single person in that audience under the age of 50 probably listened to that song in their darkest moments before fame and fortune. That’s why Eminem got a standing ovation.
People don’t understand Eminem came from nothing. Like nothing. He not only educated himself but worked his ass off to make it to the bigger stage. Guy is a legend
When the movie 8 MILE came out; that year it was nominated and won the Oscar for best original song. Em was asked to perform it live. For whatever he declines, and came to regret that decision. Now in 2020 he had the opportunity to rock the establishment...
This was pathetic. Room full of zombies. And why Is Eminem rapping the same old song? Blow their minds with something new. I don't understand why Eminem would want to perform in front of a bunch of sitting people anyways. Oscars is fucking hilarious.
You can’t fault a generation that is older and hasn’t been exposed to Eminem or any other aspect of culture? Are you as familiar with Frank Sinatra? Elvis? Or any number of other artists from back in the day that you may not have been exposed to? Keep things in perspective please.
Eminem is the live example that anyone can become successful from nothing and that you can heal from anything if you have really the will to do so. Thank you Eminem ❤
@@faisalali2001 No, he said that he was so young at that time and he wasn't satisfied about the idea of a performance at the oscars, and also he had just performed it at the grammys in that period of time.😌 in my opinion as a stan, he was right, this surprise after 20 years is the best, and iconic and brings back memories.😍🥰🥰🥶💯👌👏
oh man...when I see that I get a little sentimental. Eminem had to go through so much and spend a lot of hard moments in the shadows, but look at where he has come and how wonderfully his daughter has grown up. I bow respectfully🙏🏻
@@UndyingStory31 he’s a legend, if you don’t like his music fine… but he’s a legend. I don’t like a lot of crap, but I can appreciate the talent of the artist even if it’s not for me
@@brownboy5229 yep for best original song. It was the first hip-hop song to ever win an Oscar. Since then three 6 mafia and common won Oscars for their songs but em was the first rapper to do it. Eminem won an Oscar before Leo and brad pitt. Life is weird.
Am I the only one who feels so proud to be rapping along with him? Took me months to learn the lyrics. One of my ultimate dreams is to attend his concert and rap with him.
@@tiagoevaristo3644 Bro most people know 0 songs of Dre. The vast majority of the world population know Eminem and his songs more than the rest of the rappers combined.
I find it funny when the music during the footage rolling they didn’t think it was a live music set until the bass started up talk about a surprise performance 😂🙌🙌👍👍🎶🎶🎶
Eminem is one of the best things that ever came out of Detroit city. Stands up for what he believes in and he's worked his arse off!! This gal is proud of Eminem is from my State....
True, same with Blame Canada from South Park being nominated, which btw should have won, and was even performed at the oscars that year by Robin Williams. @@nicolenuraishah4347
Dude seriously. Why is the crowd so loud compared to Eminem? Its like they had a mic literally in the crowd at 70% and Eminem at 30% with the beat at 50% or some shit.
Can you imagine how he felt with the whole crowd singing his lyrics and a standing ovation!! Good for him, Eminem deserves to feel this love all the time
"Lose Yourself" is so popular because it's a song that transcends the genre of rap. Its themes of overcoming adversity and seizing opportunities are universal, and its driving beat and infectious energy make it a song that people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy. The opening is known world wide you know word for word the song and its singer is idolised and I am an English woman but this song spoke to me in such a way it changed my life literally instead of hiding what I wanted and doing what I was told it made me take a long hard look at what I was willingly allowing people to treat me and from the moment I heard this it was one of those EUREKA thoughts and my life did a 180 and I have never been more happier and settled now than anytime in my life, just by been ME and doing what I want to do. Through errors and wrong turns and listening to others tell me I am no good. This song lit a fire that is still burning. So for me this is my anthem and always will be
@@stonerthoosie Man runs like 5 miles a day... His cardio health is fuckin' insane. Probably better than any rapper out there honestly. Probably one of the best in the music industry... He ain't getting out of breath from rapping. Maybe being on such a grand stage as the Oscars, plus given his history with the Oscars, maybe he was a little bit worked up.
He's actually very brave to perform this song totally live in his age, it is definitely one of the most difficult. And he still managed it extremely well, hat down.
It's wild. The 2003 Grammys performance was him in his prime, and the audience was pretty dead honestly. Where as in this, he's clearly older and not quite as capable of doing it perfectly or without a backing track, but he's doing great all things considered, but THIS was the performance he got a standing ovation for. Just goes to show how his legacy is alive and that people respect the hell out of him
Did he perform at the 2003 Oscars? I was under the impression that he didn’t even show up in 2003 because he was positive he wouldn’t win and then Barbara Streisand announced him as the winner and someone else accepted on his behalf. Hence why the academy asked if he would perform in 2020, because he didn’t perform in 2003
That's grammys, not oscar .. And in this performance he perform alone usually he have his backing/backup vocal with him right.. but since oscar use orchestra maybe thats why no backing vocal here..
It wasn’t “dead”, you’re just used to loud screaming diehard fans at his concerts, the Oscars are a more formal setting so of course they aren’t going to be going crazy. But they gave him a standing ovation at the end which shows they liked it
@@dy-fathiyana3385 I think his best friend used to do the backup for him to let him breath, but he is dead now and it probably didn’t feel right to Em for doing the Grammy’s without him
@@fadlogic To all who have questions why my channel description is the way it is: Then KNOW this: We are allowed to judge, even called to judge, ourselves and others. No one personal level, yes, that right we have not, but in general and giving out RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT is allowed to do. And not just allowed, expected to do so. John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Bible says: Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Dude everyone respects him. They were just living the song and did not want to disturb the performance by their claps and singing along. And also everyone stands up and claps at the end of the performance.
I actually like the fact that he has a vocal backing track going and he doesn't try to bullshit people. He RUNS with that backing track and doesn't try to hide the fact that he's not ALWAYS on the mic.
В тот момент который говорит о том что какой он человек исполнитель и артист когда о нем говорят доктор рефи цент и много вот этих которых крутых рэперов американских говорят и привозной от того вот кто он есть красавчик.
The fact that everyone from young teens to old 70+ are singing along to his song is awesome. I don't know where music these days would be without Eminem.
He's great, he's amazing, one of the best... but please don't overcook it. I'm pretty sure the world music would still be almost the same without him. There's much more than this style of music.
@@slimshady-ec8zq Oh, absolutely... when you start your very objective comment with "you know nothing about music" - which is kind of impossible, since even a 1 y.o. knows, in broad terms, already about music - there's this inviting vibe to hold an enriching conversation which, no doubt, will at the end have brought a lot of knowledge and humanity into the conversation. I'd like to point out that, yes, definitely, without him Mexican regional music would be totally different, as well as traditional Japanese music, not to mention orchestral compositions and bands like Rammstein and U2, they'd be out of business without Em. Adele definitely made a huge turn once she started rapping and trying her HipHop moves...
The success isn't the tens of millions of records sold. Or the being the no. 1 rapper of all time... No, he raised a great girl, stayed out of the spotlight and aged like perfectly... Thats true Success
Without Eminem I don't even know where I'd be, This dude is gonna be 50 years old in 3 months and is still inspiring people through his music and words and his quotes, When I first listened to an Eminem song I instantly knew I'd be hooked on his songs, Eminem has saved me from my addiction and I'm glad he is still making rap music to this day and inspiring millions if not billions of people even to this day, This dudes legacy will never be forgotten since he has saved Hip Hop as a Genre, And when he eventually passes away there wont be an Artist that will come close to Eminem's talent and skill. ''It's okay to lose people, but never lose yourself'' - Eminem I hope to whoever is reading this just know that I wish you luck in whatever you're trying to become or overcome and stay humble and peaceful, We're all gonna make it one day if we believe hard enough and take enough action to what we want to become or overcome. @@jeffbrown8117 it’s not about that - it’s about the moment, the venue and the time this happened on live tv. I’m sure he has had many great live performances.
The crowd is weak, they’re witnessing a once in a life time opportunity millions of people wish to see Marshall at least once in they’re lives but never get the chance. If i was in the audience I would be standing up and lip rapping every word. 😳🙏🏾😭🙌🏾
Oh yes. This song, that film, was a moment in art/music performance history. Everyone in attendance knew that film was truly influential, and the song basically summed up not only the film character’s journey, but the artist’s struggle. It was brilliantly done, and we haven’t seen anything quite as uniquely special since then. I think it’s great that he came back to perform. Better late than never, and because he waited so long to make his appearance, an entire generation of people knew the lyrics for it, too. 🤩
