Loved this little side story at the end of X and Y. Sure, it's a kids game but Emma was the perfect character for this. Her backstory of no family but her little Espurr, and then Looker taking her under his wing and caring for her. All the while working on a project for the now broken Team Flare unbeknownst to her and gamer. This arrangement really brought back the feelings I got from the simple story. The strong piano at the beginning gives the mysterious feel that the side story contained as you, the player. dove deeper into what Team Flare was, and how their remnants still remained. Then the strings come in and create a beautiful counter melody giving a sad feel to the song just as Emma's story was sad and you could really empathize for the character. Then the strings fall silent leaving only then mystery as the player ponders what is really happening on their world. Then the strings que in again eventually singing two parts. A violin/viola part with the rest beneath. The separate part Emma's feelings for what she became and what she did. The underlying strings is the sadness of the head scientist, Xerosic, as his work finally came to an end. The entire song all resolving on one beat, the end of our written story in X and Y, bringing yet another beautifully crafted game, and piece, to an end.
This part of the game hit me with the feels like almost every video game tries to do to me *coughs* walking dead But in all seriousness most games do indeed hit me with the feels
Its been years since I last listened to this song. Since then I grew to think that a pure instrumental could not put a bottomless pit in my stomach and hit me in the feels like that. I have been reminded that this is incorrect.
Looker is really an interesting character, when I first play Pokemon platinum I thought that he is just a nuisance but time pass by after x and y I realize he was a great character I feel sorry for him having amnesia in Oras.
To me this song and Emotion from Black and White are tied for the think about life type of songs. Also while N was more pushed out for story which was great i still think Emma was somewhat missed potential which is unfortunate.
