The bling ring was a real group of teens. The movie sort of changes their names some and it's loosely based. But the events in the film were pretty much real. They were called the Bling ring because they would go into famous people's houses and steal material possessions and were quite obsessed with celebrity culture. They stole from Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr, Rachel Bilson and many more. They were sort of stupid about it though. Because they would "brag" about getting a way with it. They would often times wear clothes and jewelry they stole out. And were caught by the police because of things like posting on social media. It happened in 2008 and 2009. It's said they robbed Hilton the most. And went to her house five times.

Not all teenagers have the same personality or way of thinking or doing things, especially when comparing a teenager in the USA to a teenager in the UK. I have been a teenager, but I have never understood the attitude and the way teenagers act, like the character that Emma had to play. So I can relate exactly to Emma's thoughts.
