Every single one of Emmanuel Sejourné's pieces are so unbelievably good omg. This is one of the best marimba pieces I've ever heard, and this recording especially sends it over the edge and into my top 5 or even 3. I mean, 1:02 and the chords at 1:41 are just SO GOOD, I cannot get enough of the music here. And the similarity between 3:01 and 3:25 is just awesome as well as the growth between the 2 places. Also, the playing in this recording is just completely flawless. The perfect rhythmic accuracy in the middle section is amazing to listen to, and the rolls in the slower sections are absolutely angelic despite the really bad audio quality lol. The only thing I could possibly say about this piece is that the transition into the section starting at 2:21 is kinda weird and doesn't really mesh great with the end of the previous part. Also, I think it would be more awesome if the end of the buildup at 1:51 was like an octave lower or something because it feels like sort of an empty ending to the coolest chord escalation ever starting at 1:41. Also, I think it's really cool how similar this piece is to Northern Lights by Eric Ewazen. I had planned to start learning another marimba piece later this year, but after hearing this I'm considering putting that one aside to learn and try to play this near-absolute masterpiece.
