I sing this song hoping you'll all find out The man who wrote the yardbird suite Leave you no doubt tell you about Charles Yardbird Parker was his name The facts He carved his name in history A sax for his axe His improvisation was miraculous Mastermind of rhythm was he He blew notes that nobody had ever blown before Till then, Blew ‘em as they’d never been. So often true as genius seems to do He's suffered his life through but gave us the Yardbird suite All because he never stopped blowing When he had the miserable woes he seem to pour out his heart and make each person listening feel they never know what being low down could be He knew that blowing happy music going to set him free He blew and blew and blew until he had to change his hatta sound he had that long before we heard when he was just a boy in Kansas city So pretty After he came to New York town All of the local jazz were listening in admiration But long before his new sounds were round the nation Bird deserves the credit for stimulating Renaissance of Jazz It makes us very happy to announce A goodly portion of his best works reincarnated Half a treat Hurry right out and get yourself some yardbird suite (copied to another comment on yt)
One definition of virtuosity is to do something that is very difficult but to make it look easy. I bet if you as her she'll tell ya it ain't easy. Most of what some people refer to as talent is actually the result of a lot of hard work.
You two are absolutely fantastic! I LOVE the way you comp behind her so lyrically! As a pianist myself I adore accompanying vocalists. You two are a match made in heaven ❤😊
There's a lot a very good stuff on YT...and then there are things that override that ...on another level...this is world class never heard of you guys ...but I should have ..BRAVO!!
Hi guys, you've just gained à new follower. I've just discovered you and you inspiré me, I'm learning jazz at 66 in France. I realize the song is really difficult to sing and scat especially at that speed. Bravo ! À réal pleasure.
Yo! Hey Emmet/Veronica... Greetings from mid-Missouri. Emmet - you sound great; not sure about that scatting; maybe leave that to V. and you stick to the piano? (Just a thought.) Hope you both are well, healthy and maintaining. Best from Columbia/"We Always Swing" Jazz Series. - Jon
