I really think she was a good Christine for me. I liked Sarah too, but Emmy wins it out. It was just her voice was so angelic and Pure, and her emotions and acting were great and it felt real. just my opinion.
One of my favorite interviews with her! I love how she went into intimate detail on the challenges of this role. You could tell she felt honored to play it. She was so passionate and attached to this character. I thought she did a wonderful portrayal of the iconic character. Plus she's everything I want to be. Bright, friendly, talented & beautiful.
a beautiful movie that reminds me of my grandma and her love for this movie. I can't help but cry towards the end of the film. I get goosebumps during the whole film.
Empathy is a very imperative concept for acting. Being able to imagine being in someone else's shoes really helps you get into character with the role you're playing! :)
I didn't know there was a sequel to this amazing movie until I read it here. I looked it up immediatly but it is only a filmed musical. I too would absolutely LOVE to see the 2004 cast make a movie sequel to phantom of the opera I did love the musical too, but i'd rather see Gerard Butler as the phantom :)
In Leroux's book Erik is in his mid 50's and Christine is in her early 20's and Raoul is 20. Christine had a fixation with her daddy so it's not surprising that Christine would be attracted to an older man.
THANK YOU! someone who realizes is wasn't sarah brightman. Lots of people say and think that sarah brightman was the first Christine she saw, but that wasn't the case; jackie just loved sarah brightman because she was the first Christine. (personally, I prefer Emmy Rossum and sierra Boggess) :)
@lulucanigri Actually she was 16 when she auditioned & was cast in the film. She was 17 during the filming of the production. She was 18 when this interview occured. Now she'll turn 24 this September. So that would make Gerry 34 during the film. He'll turn 41 in November. Hope that helps with the math. :)
my family has always compared my relationship i had with my ex who was older than me to the phantom and Christine, they must never know of this video it revels her age
Jackie Evancho was 7 years old when she watched Emmy Rossum in POTO. and from that time on she was determined she was going to be a singer. Now at 13 she is a star in her own right. All because she was so influenced by Emmy's performance.
Well remember Broadway actors are different from movie actors they always over act to project to the audience cause thats how you act in the theater. My favorite Christine is from the movie. But the shows is ten times better cause its the original nothing can beat that. You know Phantom returning to Broadway without Ramin they casted a black singer which is so cool and groundbreaking for this show. I also like Love Never Dies the sequel to Phantom. Gerard's phantom always gave me the creeps especially when she tears off his mask that is so no nasty and gruesome and I wish they had cut that out and its part of the story I know but still it took me two or three times of watching it to get used to looking at I. Ramin was not nearly as gruesome looking or creepy. But do not have favorite. Anyways I like both versions and I hope to it on stage one day its favorite musical next to the The Music Man and Annie.
Well when they drop threw the floor the lighting was bad but when she first pulls off the mask the lighting is good and you can his bad eye very well it just freaked me out the first couple of watches but I think they want you to be freaked out for it to be affective. But I'm torn between which one I like better the stage show or the film each version is good the film is more realistic but the stage show was filmed live. So the live aspect is good cause it sounds better and its the original its the Broadway show with the current cast members who do the show. So im torn between the two and then there is Love Never Dies which is the sequel but it features yet different cast.
