Yes...what a great Ambassador for America. She shows the world how good citizens act. I have never heard a bad word spoken about her. Probably due to her mom and dad. Her dad was a prisoner of war during the Korean war.
Great version of a great song. The line "Gotta keep rockin' while I still can....Got a two pack habit and a motel tan," is one of my favorites of all time. There is one thing missing on this arrangement and that is a tele twanging between the lines. If Albert was there he would have knocked it out of the park. As it is with Emmylou playing Sally Rose it is pretty great.
I think this was a tv special for the nashville netwok, early 1991.it would sure be great if they released this as a dvd. I'd buy 2 copies in case I lost 1 mozizgod is right, walls of time is PHENOMINAL, the usual standard of quality for every thing ELH touches.
It was live at the Ryman Auditorium. I had the live show on cassette and wore it out. She played a lot of Bill Monroe songs because he was in the auditorium.

Yeah, I've seen a real short clip where she's dancing with Monroe, on stage. It's only 2-3 seconds, but the stage and all the clothes they're wearing looks like the pictures from the " Live at the Ryman" CD liner. I'm not surprised you wore out your copy of the tape, but I'm very happy to learn that such a thing does exist. Maybe I can find one. Emmylou really has the Midas touch doesn't she? I've been listening to her for about 36 years now, and she still sounds wonderful !!!
Thanks Lisa. I can hardly see him back there. You must be related. He and his pappy both died too young. On the upside their chosen careers allow hem to live forever on CDs and on youtube.
@momrobare Actually I've seen the year for this video being 1990,1991 and 1992. LOL. But it is an actual video. Don't know if it's available in DVD format or not.
@texasmusician I agree - She is a genius on choosing and covering great music, but this loses the essence of the song. Can't think iof any other song of hers where I would say that.
