You have to be in awe of that lineup: Buk, Audley, Greg Leisz, Gabe Witcher, Benmont, Booker T, Terrence Higgns & Don Was backing Emmylou & Lanois. That's a staggering amount of pop music history and talent in one spot. Sheesh.
@Brendan Brady - IF it's still available on YT, check out the Farm Aid where Lanois and his band back Willie. They did a killer version of "The Maker" and "Darkness Upon The Earth".
First time I saw Willie was summer 1980, outdoors in Sacremento. Last 45 minutes of his 3 hour set Willie shared the stage with Merle Haggard, final 20 minutes they shared the stage with Emmylou and Lacy J Dalton. Those three had done full sets earlier. I was 18 then. During my "gap year" before that term existed. The day of music was so great that for years it ruined my appreciation of lesser performers.
