_____ _____ _____ _____ Just like these lines there are many imaginative strings that human beings keep bouncing on to FEEL different feelings u found it comedic? So ur still young. For even if i bath a 1 year old child in mud the 1 year old will laugh but i know its not water hes bathing in its mud. So u need to grow to understand the character or the movie itself & not laugh at a man splitting in million pieces as i can easily say i find it funny to imagine PSCRAZYPRO blowing in million pieces
@@words007 nah, he laughed at it because of shitpost memes, for example your profile picture, people see the main character of American psycho and go "He's literally me" , this also goes for characters who are villains or who are sad
have you guys noticed dr. manhattan's face when dan says "don't even think about it"? even tho he is really stoic we can subtly tell he's showing some remorse, because as time for him moves simultaneously (and he was not suffering the delays caused by the taquions anymore) at that point he knew he had already killed rorschach.
On top of that, he knew that Rorschach would choose to die, Doctor Manhattan doesn’t just see the future, he sees what the future potentially could be, and there, he saw that Rorschach would accept no alternative than to die. Even time froze in the proximity between him and Rorschach before he killed Rorschach.
Of course, Dr. M also can see the future again, which means that Rorschach's diary must not lead to widespread revelation of the truth even though he sent it off somewhere where it might get published.
I think a lot of people miss the point of this scene. Rorschach, who was the most ruthless and brutal of all the heroes, ended up being the most principled, moral and honest of them all. He knew what was done was wrong, and was going to expose them all for it, regardless of the consequences. Yet, in contrast, the remaining Heroes who were supposed to be honourbound and morallly obligated murdered him to hide the truth and sided with the villain. The question posed is what is good or evil, and do the ends justify the means and you have to ask yourself, would you have sided with Rorschach or the others ?
doing what is morally right but would end up with millions or billions dead, or do what is morally wrong and end up with years of peace that results in millions or billions alive. A good man does what he hated and suffers but knows would save more lives, A selfish man only cares if he can sleep at night In this specific case, Rorschach is selfish, he only cared about himself, because he had people like Dr. Manhattan that actually knows the future in any other case, the best case scenario is a Question Mark, because no one can really know if sacrificing Millions would save Billions , so in any other case, it would have been an Gamble with a best case scenario, unfortunately in this Movie, we had Cheaters that knew exactly what will happen with the sacrifice of the Millions so the best one to make that decision is an actual God Like Being that makes the decision like a God of who lives and who dies.
@@sollnoll9271, on this planet right now I wouldn't, our elites and politicians can't even feed the billions we have, not to mention the blatant slavery
Playing God. Could this be a good thing? I don't know what the truth is. What I feel, I know: the one who was human here is Rorschach. He fought so that the innocent would not be killed and the innocent would not suffer. The others either played God or were cowards to stand up to protect the needy. There's a good one here. Rorschach But. The rest are not bad. Rather, he is deluded and on the wrong path. This is my opinion from my feelings.
The best part of this is in the subtlety, when Rorschach was captured he cried out for the police to give him back his face. He views his two identities as separate much like batman. Walter Kovacs can be manipulated, he can be hurt he can even be killed, but to him Rorschach is immortal. Rorschach cannot be made to feel fear or pain. When he intentionally pulls off his mask and hat in the face of death he is doing two things. Firstly he is allowing himself feelings in his last seconds, something that would have been possible if he was Rorschach; he wants to be human and face his death with real human emotions. Secondly he is signaling that Rorschach has gone leaving only Walter behind; in effect he makes sure Jon kills the man Walter and not the 'spirit'/'identity'/'idea' that is Rorschach and so he secures its immortality.
You can see in Manhattan’s face he didn’t want to do it. He was always fond of Rorschach and the level of respect was there. Strange, for a being that supposedly feels nothing, you can feel what he felt before he obliterated Walter
He never needed to do it. Manhattan is a coward in all of this, especially considering his powers. This narrative by Ozymandis and Manhattan is an absolute fallacy.
@@InVinoVeratas Why? Everyone knew that telling the truth would mean those millions of people died for nothing, and the world might end. Every single one of them knew that keeping the truth hidden was the only way forward. Rorschach knew it, too, but his character does not compromise. Ever. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't. So he realizes that he'll have to die, which is why he tells Manhattan to "do it".
My favorite part is that his blood splatter is a rorshach test, but to most people it looks like an angel. Which is fitting since, despite being a killer, he was to most noble of them all
Ozy was right about a few things. But he was especially right about Dr. Manhattan. I appreciate that he, the comedian and Rorscharc agree about that; that Manhattan could have done more but didn't
U know whats funny? He could have easily brung back the one pregnant woman bc she wasn’t shot in the brain but rather her abdomen so in all reality bringing her back especially with his powers would be as simple as re assembling her atoms especially since bc her brain didnt get shot she would easily recover with little to no effect on her and her baby.hell this dude even said that a dead person is virtually the same as a live one meaning he should understand not only how easy it should be to fix for him but it realistically should have been a peace of cake. Overall, manhattan man somehow masters the art of being a omnipotent being and a absolute moron at the same time
@@iamkingbullet6165 He thinks he is disconnected from humanity, yet he's still shackled to the human nature he strives to distance himself from. He's omnipotent, sure, but still has a human mind, bound to the same vices as the rest of us.
This is easily better than Avengers and Definitely one of my all time favorite films! It's an Underrated Masterpiece that I think didn't get enough praise as I think it should , people complained that it hard to follow , and it ultra violent and dark but they missed the philosophical part of the movie and what the movie was trying to tell.
Also I think before watching this movie you will need to read the Graphic novel , because then it would be easy to follow the movie and you will understand the characters more and you already know what you getting yourself in too.
"Convenient" I love this movie, what an absolute masterpiece. I wish people would have appreciated it more. But like most art, the present never illuminates. The fog always clears after a few years.
I liked The Director’s Cut a little better. TBH, this was not for one movie. I don’t mind almost 4 hours long, but mileage varies. I just feel the plot flowed better with the deleted scenes put back such as Doctor Manhattan sitting in the empty studio before leaving for Mars.
@@AdrianFahrenheitTepes Oh man I need to watch the directors cut because the movie did seem as if some things were missing. Ya I can definitely watch four hours worth of Watchmen that sounds like a blast.
this movie is a horrible representation on the comics, they explicitely do what the comic maker hated, and he stated that he never wants to be represented by this movie, as he hate is how they represented his comic, so no, i dont think its a masterpiece
They say the writer of the graphic novel refused to watch the movie. I remember seeing the previews of this movie in the theaters and said to myself, how can they consolidate such a huge story into one movie? They did an incredible job in my opinion. Most movies can’t develop the characters in such a short time frame. This movie did and the characters were very memorable.
@@Sharrias Moore didn't expect him to be so well liked. He made him a conspiracy nut, right wing, violent, unhygienic, etc. He was meant to be a satire character that was given an "abhorrent personality" He said he didn't expect the audience to relate to Rorschach so much (has he never met a comic fan lmao?}
Instead of teleporting Ror somewhere, Dr decided to kill him. From 1 perspective - he knew that letting Ror live with the pain of failure and against his own principles would be a torment for him. From another though, it shows that his last piece of humanity is gone with Ror's death - and even though TV series told us otherwise, I do still think that this was not a mercy kill. More like a closure for the Dr..
I don’t think it shows Dr Man’s humanity is gone, I think quite the opposite since he realizes this may be what it takes to unite the human race and bring peace, and that’s why he is okay letting it happen, because he knows the evils and cruelties of the world better than anyone, he even went to live off world to get away from it, even a “god” such as himself had to be explained the nature of it, and then he understood. Kill a few million to save billions.
a masterclass on voice delivery and screen presence. fuckin love this movie. every minute. thank you to cast and crew for this absolute lightning in a bottle
Don't you think Rorschach is stupid? If he really wanted to let the world know the truth, he could have kept silent in the face of Manhattan and then tell-it-all later. He instead chose vanity and decided to flaunt his righteousness, thereby losing his ultimate objective. Such persons usually don't live long, and are better off dead, lest they threaten another meaningful plan or life.
@@jamesl2590 He refused to betray his morals like that. He mailed his journal to the journalist, so he didn't care if he died. He would rather have died than live in "Veidt's new utopia"
@@Colayith He should have lived to fight him and see the fruits before he rest. Suicide doesn't increase the chance of the truth coming to light. What if the journalist doesn't agree with him? I see a hysterical virtue signaling person, not a true principled person.
+Nasus The Curator Of Sands It's an instant death and, more importantly, what does it leave behind in the snow? A Rorschach's blot. As a death, it's better than simply disintegrating into nothing or just a lifeless body.
But it doesn't, the future holds his journal, none of them even knew he kept one or that he knew the truth and made sure to leave it in a place where someone would read it, and they do.
Rorshach was the only redeeming thing in this movie. The cynical righteous outlaw till the very end. "Never compromise, not even in the face of Armageddon" is an amazing quote.
@Hank He could have teleproted him away.. Imprisoned him in a false reality He could have done anything he has God-like powers. I think the point is what ozymandius said ,he could have done more he just did not care enough. It's like Dr. Manhattan had no humanity left, This was the final nail in the coffin of his ties to mankind
I love this movie. Not enough attention is given to the fact that this film had some of the best subtle moments of absolutely outstanding storytelling. Something that Zack Snyder is best at is showing and not telling. Rather than being provided with a detailed story as to what is happening in this moment, we are shown it. Roarshach is completely unable to accept the fact that Vight just murdered billions of people in an attempt to give humanity a target in Manhattan. He can't allow humanity to be bought into the idea of compromising and avoiding their cruel and dangerous natures, because to him, that is the reality of what humanity truly is. And Manhattan understands that despite the fact that what Vight did is horrible, and beyond reprehensible, there's no denying the effectiveness of duping humanity into believing he was responsible for what happened, allowing humanity to focus their attention on coming together rather than falling apart in nuclear Holocaust.
he is great at showing what he likes, not what the comic was suposed to show, like the start of the movie, the comedian is suposed to die in a pathetic, stupid and disgusting way, in the movie he dies fighting like a hero, and he has super strenght, when he is suposed to be a normal human, no super powers, they also show the scene of the rape in a sexy and erotic way, when in the comic its not at all like that, so he is saying hey fuck she was so hot he just had to rape her right? they also completly fuck up the ending, the comic maker explicitly said that he hated that every movie had a random explosion without any meaning, and he explicitly did what the comic maker hated, a explosion without a meaning, when in the comic its suposed to be a alien invasion, not only that but every character has fucking super powers, when in the comic they are suposed to be normal humans that try to fight crime, but they fail miserably, because they are not special and they will finally fail
Ugh. I hated how I felt after watching this movie. Powerful beings manipulating people, Sacrificing lives who were stripped of their already limited free will just to do what they think is best for an uncertain future generation that will have no idea of what was lost. Doesn’t sound all to strange when you think about the powerful beings in Washington or Moscow.
Decisions need to be made and that's why we have elected leaders. Imagine having to choose between dropping a bomb on a terrorist who could potentially kill thousands who just so happens to be at a wedding or not. Sacrifice potentially 10 or 15 people to get one guy who could harm thousands?
This was a rational murder. Rorschach could not live in a world where justice doesn't exist, where a lie is the only thing keeping the peace, Rorschach would have never kept the secret, and Dr Manhattan knew it. The death of rorschach was an act of mercy
@@benedictcumberbatch4275 nope. The whole point is rocharch being unable to deal with the fact that injustice was done to save people, he's doing this in order to ignore the contradiction in his ideology which is that as long as he doesn't compromise justice will be served. He was safe already he's the one who wanted to die.
Jackie Earle Haley is incredibly underrated, he played this role to perfection. One of my favorite anti heroes, dude believed in truth, justice and morals. He was willing to die for it, and he did.
@@iamkingbullet6165 Not for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie and I like it a lot. But some people praise it a little TOO hard. Same thing with The Dark Knight. It's a good movie, but one of the greatest films of all time? No...lol
Snyder did a pretty good job of making an 'unmakeable' movie. He gets a lot of shit, and lord knows some of it is deserved. But this and his first film, the 'Dawn' remake were good.
I will admit I like the change that was made from the comics because it never sat well with that everyone but Rorschach went along with this. As we see in the beginning everyone said ok, but him, once he died for what he believed that sent the others to realize this was wrong and maybe we should tell the truth.
This is a common theme of well thought out series - "who is right and who is wrong and does sacrificing lives, morality, even humanity justify the means to the outcome" Star Wars - Clone Wars uses the similar theme Palpatine and the Sith brought about the extinction of the Jedi with a Civil War that ended the Republic and rise of the Empire - under a certain kind of peace. Yes, the Sith sacrificed tens of billions of lives throughout the centuries to ensure the destruction of the Jedi - but it also brought an end of a form of government which saw two different planetary and solar system types - Inner and Outer, which the former profited off of the Outer systems. The Empire ended this system - dedicating both Inner and Outer to the Empire instead of whatever was the politically motivated "bribed" the Senate. Yes the Empire created weapons of mass destruction and killed billions - but they were possibly in preparation for the Vong invasion that would happen decades later under the New Republic. Yes the Sith introduced a galactic civil war -- it brought about more change to the galaxy than the Jedi ever did (by this time they had chosen to do nothing in galactic affairs). Almost every single time - I do side with the Sith and believe the Republic and the Jedi needed to go. - Here, I would hate the lie. I would hate knowing how it came to be. I would hate knowing all those lives were sacrificed under false pretenses. Yet - I would allow it to stand. It is a common thing the governments do for the common civilian - we do not need to know everything that is right and wrong. Majority only want to live our daily lives. Without the threat of nuclear war. If the truth comes out decades later, let it be. Then we can make our own conclusions whether we judge those who made those decisions. But if that truth was to sever the needed peace that was brought about a lie, I will ensure that lie remains until it no longer matters in regards to current world affairs. Dr. M did the right thing -- sucks it had to be a friend.
People love to think they have the ability to make hard decisions with lives in the balance. As a retail worker, I've watched people almost have an anxiety attack because they can't choose shampoo. Also, Ive said this about the Empire for years. The Empire was right. There was stability and prosperity under Imperial rule. Anyone who has read the old EU knows the Republic, after the fall of the Empire, fell into infighting and never established itself. This left it open to countless wars and in the end more people died because of it. In hindsight, Luke basically helped destroy the galaxy.
what's so funny is this scene...which is almost exactly true to the comic...cements Rorshach in the public conciousness as a hero...as a moral being who can tell good form evil and refuses to compromise. which is exactly what Moore DIDN"T want to do. He was, in fact, trying for the opposite effect. So who is more twisted, the author or the character? Hint: it's the guy that wrote a pornographic fanfiction turning Alice from Alice in wonderland into an aging bisexual pedophile.
Sort of poetic that Ozy says his, not some comic book villain who tells his plan just for it to be stopped and he activated the bomb 35 mins ago n then Dr finds out Ozy plan n then kills Walter but we find out Walter aint no comic book villain either and has a journal to be discovered. No one is getting off for their crime
So what happens when humanity figures it was “just a prank bro”? Surely they will have completely rational and normal reactions right? It couldn’t possibly start even more violence and bloodshed
Does he need to explode him though? Like couldn't he just stop his heart without destroying his body? Seems a bit extreme, especially for an old friend.
Rorshach was the only one who cynically acted as if humanity wasnt even worth saving. And the only one not to accept the murder and lie by Veidt because even after all his personal cynicism - he still loved them.
There's a point, far out there when the structures fail you, and the rules aren't weapons anymore, they're... shackles letting the bad guy get ahead. One day... you may face such a moment of crisis. And in that moment, I hope you have a friend like I did, to plunge their hands into the filth so that you can keep yours clean! - Jim Gordon
Rorschach didn’t have to tell anyone anything. He already let the story out. He could’ve just stayed quiet and Dr. Manhattan wouldn’t have killed him. He died for nothing.
IMO, it's a conflict between Walter Kovacs and Rorschach. Rorschach wanted the truth to come out even if it meant humanity would destroy itself. Walter Kovacs wanted to keep the secret and let humanity have a chance to do better. That's why he took his mask off in the end. That sacrifice was made by Walter Kovacs.
By dying then everyone would think well the one that would spill the beans is dead but the truth won't get out. So they wouldn't trace Rorschach's last days to make sure he didn't have a contingency plan to still get the info out and Dr Manhattan left the universe so he didn't see the full outcome
kills Rorshack because he cares about humanity's future then IMMEDIATELY 2 seconds later says, "fuck this planet i'm leaving this galaxy" Dr Manhattan? more like Dr Hypocrite
I think him killing Rorshack is supposed to be the final nail in the coffin for his humanity . He could have telelported rorshack away.He has god like powers . He just no longer cared about the earth as it was way too complicated for him.
@@benedictcumberbatch4275 There would always be new leaders who would keep it going. It would not have the effect of such a massive loss of life. The ppl needed to fear a massive exsistential threat to unite aganst
Dr. Manhattan lost touch with his humanity until his girl reminded him of the good side of people. Comparing the beauty of the individual as extraordinary as thermodynamic miracles. That of course played a role for his return to caring about people. If you notice his face once Rorschach says to kill him he feels really bad about doing that. He realized that Rorschach was in pain. It almost became a mercy killing for Dr. Manhattan as well.
