@@maladjustedmalcontent1532 I'm in Texas, the state that leads the nation in massacres. The Republicans control the state legislature. Many decades ago the legislature should have raised the minimum age to buy any long gun (rifle, shotgun) to 21. Despite the massacres by killers using AR-15s, such as Sutherland Springs & Uvalde, the Republicans have refused to enact any common sense gun safety solutions here. On Christmas cards by many Texas Republican legislators, the family photo typically is of everyone in the family (parents on down to little kids) posing with a gun, such as AR-15s & larger caliber semiautomatic rifles. Sometimes posing with large machine guns.

“Tragedy & Truth In Uvalde”, a poem - Slaughter raging. Children pleading for rescue. Time was of the essence. What did the officers do? They showed little urgency. Officer safety. That was their highest priority. While the gunman’s bullets flew. They knew what they should do. But they chose not to. While blood flowed fast & free. Lives lost in tragedy. In the death rooms. In Uvalde. The truth the whole world can see.

@CascadianFyn - I own guns. Your 2nd sentence is preposterous. The U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that reasonable restrictions, such as restrictions on age of purchase, are Constitutional. By your loco statement, a kindergarten kid could legally buy an AR-15. Or after a murderer is released from prison he could legally amass an arsenal. Reckless people like you are part of the problem, not part of the solution. No massacres in America are by bare hands. That's why common sense gun safety solutions are needed & Constitutional. You would be singing a different tune if 1 of your family members had been slaughtered by a teenager wielding an AR-15 in a rampage. And you are a callous-hearted wretch for spewing your recklessness at a video of folks who are expressing their personal loss. You have sunk into dishonor.

School shootings are horribly tragic, but they aren't leading cause of guns deaths or violence. In 2023 there were 43, 000 related gun deaths. In 2023, 35% of gun deaths were homicides, 56% were suicides, nearly 4% were unintentional shootings, 3% were police shootings and less than 2% were mass shootings, according to the report. It also is not the number killer of children because those numbers include the age bracket 18-24, which happens to the leading age bracket of black teens and young adults being killed by guns. Which accounts for almost 36% of all gun homicides.

@@georgepatton6195 It's common knowledge that school massacres are not the leading cause of gun deaths in the U.S. That said, those massacres surely have a substantial adverse emotional impact upon students nationwide. Anxiety about the possibility of being murdered by a gunman wielding an AR-15 is a substantial factor why the rate of homeschooling has been rising for years. In my home state of Texas, the state that leads the nation in massacres, the rate of homeschooling continues to rise, even though many parents have said that they are not well qualified to do so, but they do it anyway because of anxiety about a potential shooting at school.
