The Loss and Curse of Reference, live from Tokyo Japan 2023. Black Metal, Emperor band, Emperor Live, Drumcam, Drum Cam, Drumming. Pearl Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, Trick Pedals, Footblaster, Vic Firth
Emperor live shows are quality over quantity for sure. They always sound really on point, think they must rehearse a fair bit. Ihsahn has really taken care of his vocals too, he sounds amazing still. Saw them in London last year and I've got tickets to see them in Scotland & Ireland next year too.
The riffs are played more cleanly now. The nuances jump out a little more, give me a higher appreciation of the sense of flow in the melodies. These songs are still powerful after all these years. They have aged well…
@@trommnorse I’m sure the clarity is due to the advances made in recording technology. These guys were never sloppy players to me so I guess I used the wrong words initially but it’s unquestionable to my ears that I can discern the riffing much better now than the original recording which I still adore beyond words…
I think it’s partly the playing and partly more refined amp settings, mixing, micing, etc. When you’re a young musician in a scene that fetishizes rawness and primitive production, you can practice your instrument all day but still have no idea how to ensure your band sounds good and clear and evenly audible in a live setting-you might not even care. I’m sure these guys have learned a lot in the 20+ years since they first toured on this album. As for the original recoding, blurry primitive production was the aesthetic of Norwegian black metal of the time. Their third record IX Equilibrium sounded amazing and very clear, and black metal fans immediately hated it without giving the material (some of which, esp the first 3 tracks, is quite strong!) a chance
Awesome footage! You look much more comfortable behind the kit compared to 2-3 years ago. Must be the hair ;) Super impressive to see all the "jazzy" details in your drumming in this song!
was thinking the same, the lack of touring imo, but here, god damn he's breathes confidence. Great to see one of the greats perfecting his craft even at 50, cause this 2023 rendition of this classic is just great, it gives me motivation at 40 to keep going.
To me Trym and Hellhammer have always been on a higher level then many other BM drummers, and one of the reasons for that is that they take inspiration from a lot of different music, especially jazz etc
For me the best and complete song of all entire black metal scene. It's have all the details,.also the video clip I love to much. Thanks you Trim for uploading more songs.
Trym is a fantasticdrummer, quite relaxed. What I don't understand is how the hell he's comfortable playing with his snare and ride cymbal so freakin' low
Going to see the mighty Emperor in June when they hit New York. Fantastic vid and a truly mind blowing performance from one of the best Black Metal drummers of all time. Hail Trym!! Hail the mighty Emperor!! 🤘🤘
For me you were always was and always be black metal`s number 1 drummer. Not only for the unique drumming techniques, but also for your composition skills which are above and beyond, especially for such complicated rhythms as Emperor's.
Mister Trym T, you damn rule i cant recount the number of full evenings i went through to appease depression watching continuously your subtly empowering bewitching drum playing, especially the black and white rehearsals of "acclamation" and "with strenght". I am a guitarist but you are the one giving me the longing to start the drumming experience
